The first week of conference cross division contests. While Friday projects a high of 70 degrees, it should feel like fall for the first time this season by kickoff.

Friday
Eisenhower (0-7) at Lanphier (0-7)
The battle of the Panthers versus the Lions will result in someone getting their 1st win. The Panthers have played somewhat better this season. Eisenhower 40 Lanphier 18. Massey prediction: Eisenhower 41 Lanphier 22.

Southeast (1-6) at U High (5-2)
The Spartans got their 1st win last week but don't expect them to go back-to-back against the Pioneers. U High 55 Southeast 14. Massey prediction: U High 48 Southeast 13.

Lincoin (4-3) at QND (6-1)
When Lincoln has played teams with a winning record this season, they have been outscored 172-7. QND, along with U High, has been the biggest positive surprise of the conference. The Raiders should win comfortably and also have a great chance to go 8-1. QND 42 Lincoln 7. Massey prediction: QND 42 Lincoln 7.

MacArthur (2-5) at Jacksonville (4-3)
These schools have battled closely several times recently, including a playoff deciding Week 9 contest in 2021 and a 1-point outcome last year. The Crimsons have been clearly better this season and have a great chance to get their 5th win at home with their strong running attack. After seeing Mac last week, they are in a bit of a rebuilding mode. Jacksonville 33 MacArthur 12. Massey prediction: Jacksonville 36 MacArthur 26.

Chatham (5-2) at SHG (5-2)
The Game of the Week. This matchup looked a lot different three weeks ago, after Chatham walloped Rochester and QND did the same to SHG. Since then, the Titans have underperformed twice on the road struggling to finish off MacArthur in Week 5 until the 4th Quarter and losing by three scores to U High in Week 6. SHG looked their best of the season last week in pulling away from Springfield in the 2nd half with a strong running game and winning 35-7. I've mentioned this several times before but am still unaware of the status of Titan WR Blake Lehnen who has been out injured most of the season. Should he play, Lehnen is an extra weapon for Chatham. SHG's defense performed very well last week and will get back their two starting DE's who were serving a 1-game suspension in Week 7. They need another strong defensive effort. There is a definite Cyclone win scenario here, especially since the game is at KL Stadium and the Cycs have dominated the series since Chatham last won in 2019. The Titans biggest advantage is having QB Colten Knoedler, who will be making his 20th career start. Properly protected, he will pick apart a defense. This is a QB driven league. I think Knoedler makes enough plays to pull out a narrow Chatham win. Chatham 27 SHG 23. Massey prediction: SHG 35 Chatham 28.

Saturday
Rochester (5-2) at Springfield (5-2)
Rochester's 2nd Saturday game of the season, coming off back-to-back shutouts of Eisenhower and MacArthur. Springfield had a tough loss to SHG last week but is playoff eligible and has the capability to score lots of points having an experienced QB, good Receivers, and a hard-running big back. Derek has mostly gone with Tanner Beal at QB since the injuries to Zulauf and Carlson but has also used Sophomore JP Leonard at times in both the last two games. Each team is hoping to have the opportunity to get 7 wins, which makes getting a 1st round home playoff game more likely. Rochester 39 Springfield 14. Massey prediction: Rochester 42 Springfield 7.

Taking the weak schedule Springfield has had thus far, 20-29 overall, and the quality of opponents they've beaten, 9-26, and comparing it to the overall ranking of their schedule, an average 261st rated team....I think Rochester puts a clock on them as well.

Rochester's overall opponent record is 28-20 and their defeated opponent's record is 17-18. They play an opponent with an overall rating of 162, losing only to 4th ranked Cardinal Ritter and 66th ranked Glenwood.

The common opponent being MacArthur, whom Springfield beat 21-7 and Rochester had a running clock after the 1st possession of the 2nd half.

This is due to be another short game on the District 186 field.

That said, Mac did find some openings down field. But those were quickly sealed off when Buecker adapted and the Rockets turned them into 2 picks.

This will be my final post of the '24 season.

The weekly CS8 thread has become a platform for continuous non-football back and forth arguments that show no sign of ending.

Last year, we had Gross Noises lobbing insults left and right. This year has, at times, rivaled the worst of GN.

The feedback from the rest of the board is in. Look at the Week 7 comments from the non-CS8 posters. It's a mix of those asking (and not for the 1st time) for this to stop or wishing a pox on all involved in more expressive terms. Has had no impact.

I'm not going to tell anyone what they can/can't post. Just don't feel it's my place.

Perhaps by ending the platform that allows this back and forth to continue it will fizzle out. That may be a naive hope.

If nothing else, though, it might contain the back and forth to a single thread instead of having it jump from one to another each week all the way through Week 14.

Wishing all a great rest of the season and a Thanskgiving trip to ISU.

rocket nation please do not let that stop you I enjoy your weekly threat I do not comment on a lot of stuff but enjoy your thread please continue. I think maybe Edgy needs to impose a 30 ban on some maybe they will get the point. Some type of punishment is a must.

So sorry to hear this, thank you for all of your amazing work

All.... Rocketnation if you are still planning on attending the Cyclone/Chatham game and have time the rodents tailgate soiree will be going on. Stop by for a visit if the spirit takes you to do so. At the Griffin woods old soccer field grass area down at the end in the "corner" (of course!) where a pop up tent will be sitting and an SHG flag flying high. Plenty of parking. (ignore the Chatham flags and their contingent that will be whooping it up ☺️) A west side entrance to the stadium sits right off this area for easy access. Ratsy P.S. This morning on Sports radio 1450 Sammy mentioned tonight at the annual board meeting in Rochester some former players would be in attendance to speak. He provided no other details other then being informed about this last Friday.

Please reconsider rocketnation! Your content stands alone above all the rest in terms of quality, depth of analysis, and prognostication.

Perhaps if the two instigators can agree to knock it off for the rest of the season????
I agree to stop insulting Quincy as the Hell by Hannibal and admit I was wrong in not believing QND would hit .500 if Roamin stops celebrating his part in injuring players, falsely insinuatating people from Chatham and Rochester are bigots, trolling on a fanpage which supports our program, and spreading falsehoods about coaches or players.

I believe I attempted this twice, once with any actual sincerity, if I'm being honest with myself. As we can see it did me no good. Therefore I pushed on. For that part, I apologize to all. At the end of the day my true purpose for being here is information and conversation about high school football. Some will not believe that, and I am ok with that. I have been here much longer than any current confrontation with cigaros, and I'll remain beyond this point, if/as allowed.

I should have never let it get to this. I am guilty of instigating cigaros, on multiple occassons. In fairness, he never took two seconds to look up what the dictionary definition of "bigotry" is. I took far too much joy in his inability to comprehend why I was calling him such a word. It was never meant in a Westboro Baptist type of way... although it played out as such considering I chose to disclose my reasons for exiting Rochester* the town years ago. Unfortunately that experience definitely did involve some Westboro Baptist type of thinking. But that has nothing to do with cigaros, RocketNation, or any other Rochester* poster on this site that I'm aware of.

I am sorry, @AlabamaTimberwolf. I took advantage of your misunderstanding of the situation and used it to stir the pot even more with cigaros. You didn't deserve that. I hope you'll understand.

I am sorry, @cigaros. I'm sure you're a wonderful person, irl. I truly mean that. I wish every high school football program had more passionate dudes like you and RocketNation following their teams each season. I can't condone much of what you've responded with, and mine was far from saintly, but in the end I don't know you, and you obviously know little more than my name and whatever else you came up with in your investigation into my name. I don't doubt I'd likely meet you at a game and never be able to link you to the poster you are on this site. Meaning, I'm sure you're nothing like the monster we have both turned into these past few weeks. I know, personally, I am not. I'm confident you aren't either.

@rocketnation , I am sorry. I've hijacked seemingly every week of this. You put in far too much effort for me and anyone else to turn it into a pissing match each week. Thanks again for all your work and knowledge. I truly do appreciate it as a fan. I cannot undo what has been done, but I can shut the eff up about all the other nonsense and keep it strictly football.

I did finally do something both myself and cigaros should have done weeks ago, I clicked the "ignore" option next to his name. This should help facilitate peace moving forward.

Thanks.

We all stirred the pot but I didn't take anything personal. You have a passion for football just as well all do and we can move forward realizing that we hurt some that don't deserve that hurt. Nothing on social media should be taken personal and we call should be able to laugh at not only ourselves but others without malice!

All... An update on the board meeting that was to take place last night at 6:30pm with an expected standing room crowd. Heard this morning on Sports Radio 1450AM - AM Springfield that runs from 6 to 9 Monday through Friday hosted by Sammy. The first half hour they take a few calls and will comment on a myriad of subjects local and national. Then they go a regular format with guests and lots of commercials. Anyway..... Sammy right before they end the first half hour states the board meeting was cancelled. And then he adds something to the effect and that is all I'm going to say. Ratsy

All....Local area weather looks good for football Friday. A high of 70 in the afternoon mid to lower 50"s thoughout the game. Not much wind. Odd a split decision among the two projection services. for the Cyclone/Titan game at K.L. Field. Calpreps has Chatham 28 SHG 22 (62%). Massey showing SHG 35 Chatham 28 (61%). Titans are the favorite in my opinion and a close game would be fun to watch. SHG had four starters out last week when they played Springfield. The two DE's that had to sit out from getting the boot by the refs the previous week against Southeast will be back. The other two were a bit banged up and if back tomorrow would help in tying to keep this game close. We will see.... Ratsy

So what's the consensus say here? With Rochester not playing til Saturday I have a free Friday night. It's either going to be spent at KL Field or watching Maroa @ Williamsville. My initial take was that Glenwood is going to pull away and win by 3 scores or so, and thus I planned to go to Williamsville. Thoughts?

Frankly, I think the excitement will be bigger at the SHG game. People are counting the Cyclones out because they haven’t established a truly strong identity yet. But they are up-and-coming and looking better each week.. In the meantime, Chatham has seemed complacent. Rivalry week always boost intensity. And I don’t think Williamsville and Mara have that tension yet.

My insight into that was not enough board members who could attend the meeting. I will not speculate whether that was true or not. Possibly it could be the tensions were high. But that would be inappropriate speculation. That meeting has been postponed to next week. And I do not anticipate the tensions being any lower.

don't even think about this!!!!!!!!!!! see if edgy will lock your thread each week. maybe he'll let you post updates like the 1450 & sjr picks. @EdgyTim.

Personally, I think you chose correctly. I think W'ville v. MF should be the better game. Both of these will have that playoff feel though I'd guess. Both quality heavyweight bouts respectively. Glenwood could easily turn it on and win rather comfortably but like I've said, SHG is a waking beast. They're going to be a load the next two years with what they've got talent wise currently.

Man, I told my father two days ago QND is just lucky they caught SHG when they did. This group (SHG) was bound to catch fire at some point. They have the talent, it's there... But quick, I gotta give my guy Jack Cornell the respect he deserves here too, he outcoached John Allison for one night. I'm not saying that's a trend beginning, I'm saying this time, Big Jack made it happen.

That said, I like Chatham still, not to break your heart ratsy. I just think they've got superior experience to this point and the depth just doesn't seem to be there for SHG this season. Maybe some of those injuries you eluded to will correct some of that, but I was most shocked at how thin the Cycs were in certain areas "way back" in week 4. Lot has happened since then, and SHG has clearly trended in a much better direction since that night.

Praying, per the usual, the Raiders remain with the ultimate task in sight this week, we would prefer to avoid a slip-up at this point. 8-1 should have QND in a very nice place in the (assuming quads as always...) 2A south bracket.

QND in the gold tops, white pants, gold domes tonight. Think Boston College's gold top look... Easily my least favorite look for the Raiders. Also annoying when they do this against a team wearing all-white like Lincoln lol

Carried over from wk 7 thread. posted em in wrong place. My bad...

QND 7
Lincoln 0
End 1Q

QND defense 3 sacks, 6 hurries in 1Q. QND offense has been pedestrian thus far. Took opening kickoff down to Lincoln 27, stalled turned it over on downs. 2nd possession, methodical, run game doing the it's thing. Mueller 4 yd rush TD.

Another week, another special teams TD. Mueller 82 punt return to the house on 1st play from scrimmage of 2Q. Mueller's 2nd TD

QND 14
Lincoln 0
11:44 2Q

Ivan Hun is a monster... The big boy with some BURST! Breakaway speed... we'll omit that part of the clip. Drug down at the 2. Couple plays later, Hun leaps and scores... his 10th rushing TD of the season. XP snap was wonky, Joseph Doellman bails and scores...

QND 22
Lincoln 0

QND 28 (XP no good)
