Week 4 Matchups

West Division
SHG (2-1) at QND (2-1)
Lanphier (0-3) at Jacksonville (2-1)
Springfield (3-0) at Southeast (0-3) game at Memorial Stadium

East Division
Rochester (2-1) at Chatham (2-1)
Eisenhower (0-3) at MacArthur (1-2) game 5pm Friday
Lincoln (2-1) at U High (2-1)

Due to the Raiders stronger than expected start, the QND/SHG game is more interesting now than it seemed a month ago. SHG made a move last week that will pay dividends going forward IMO. By going with the Sophomore QB, they now have someone who can develop over the next 2+ years. Was Gabe Green the last Cyclone QB to start as a Sophomore? Also, moving the Senior QB to RB takes advantage of his speed and gives their other RB, who also is a big part of the defense, a chance to get some breaks.

Last year, Chatham QB Colton Knoedler had a solid first half throwing against Rochester and got the Titans within 21-14 late in the 2nd. Rochester got a last second TD that was helped by a fluke play where Bryan Zulauf completed a pass while being taken down for a possible sack. The skies really opened up at halftime and the Rockets took over in the 2nd half. Derek's QB by committee worked well against Lincoln but it will be a sterner test at Chatham Friday.

It's finally here... and I have to miss it. I'll hopefully be able to watch the livestream while in Georgia.

This is the week we all pray for a miracle.

Agree totally with your analysis, Rocket. It was the best decision possible to go with the sophmore at QB and move the senior to RB. He can also line up as a receiver and catch passes out of the backfield. Yes, he is the first sophmore to start at QB since Gabe Green. Before that go back to 2002 and Eric Peterman did it but not at the start of the season. Still with all that, it is a very young Cyclone team, with sophmores all over the place on both sides of the ball, and also a freshman at center, which to my recollection has never happened before going back 40 plus years. I don't have much of an idea of how good QND is but I'm sure their fans will be loud and that stadium will be rocking on Friday night. A tough task for a young team but we shall see. I liked the way the Cyclone defense stepped up in the second half Friday night and shut down the run, after getting pushed around pretty good in the first half by a big and physical Jacksonville O line.
