CS8 Predictions-Week 6

Not sure if it would be a 3-way tie or if there is some kind of tie breaker.

The way the IHSA decides 3 way tiebreakers is the team that allowed the fewest points in games involving the three teams is selected as the conference representative for playoffs. Not sure if the CS8 operates under the same guidelines for determining a conference champion, though.

This happened in the 2018 season, I believe. Both Rochester 🏈 and Glenwood had 8–1 records. Rochester 🏈 was recognized by the IHSA as the conference champ.

All... SHG 66 Southeast 6. Leaving the parking lot now after that radio announcement. Nathans dogs and chilli sausce were a hit. Spartans down to maybe 24 players. That needs to stop.... Ratsy

Eisenhower had 28 total players on their sideline. It's pretty sad to watch these 5A schools have fewer players on their sideline than their classroom average. Even sadder was they had only 34 fans in the stands. And their quarterback's parents weren't there to reassure him as he was taken from the field with an injury.

I've seen larger visiting crowds at a Monday night JV game where the opponent was traveling more than an hour.

All.... Two stud defensive Cyclones players get the boot mixing it up with Southeast leading by 35 in the game with multiple Spartans getting thrown out as well. Perfect for week seven ... Ratsy

Southeast has always been good for talking smack and then getting their rear ends handed to them.

All.... Week six videos. Ratsy

Week 7 Matchups
QND (5-1) at Jacksonville (4-2)
SHG (4-2) at Springfield (5-1)
Lanphier (0-6) at Southeast (0-6)
Lincoln (4-2) at Chatham (4-2)
Rochester (4-2) at MacArthur (2-4)
U High (4-2) at Eisenhower (0-6)

Except for U High at Eisenhower, the Week 7 games all have potential to be interesting with several impacting the playoff picture.

If QND gets the road win, they have an excellent chance of going 8-1. The Crimsons will try to rebound at home after a tough loss to Springfield.

Since beating SHG in both 2018 and 2019, SHG has outscored the Senators 225-39 over the last four meetings. After becoming playoff eligible last week, the Senators continue their challenging end of season schedule with SHG followed by Rochester and Chatham.

Either the Lions or Spartans will get into the win column in the battle of the Northend vs Eastside.

Lincoln got a big win in Week 6. Their reward is to travel to Chatham and face the Titans coming off a rough loss at U High. It's Homecoming week in Chatham and expect them to have play much better.

If Rochester starts as slowly against MacArthur as they did against Eisenhower, they could be in for a real struggle regardless of the Generals 2-4 record.

Looking like it'll still be a bit steamy next Friday across the belt of IL...

Jacksonville, Decatur, Springfield... all the same at this point.
High 83, wind SSW 10-15

Rochester/Mac game is in Rochester.

Pretty sure the conference decides the tie breaker and not the IHSA.

The conference can decide who they call the conference champion, but IHSA determines who the conference rep is when it comes to the playoffs.

How does the conference champion get decided if U-High, Rochester, and Glenwood all end 4-1 in conference?
For the purpose of receiving the automatic bid to the playoffs, University High would be designated the conference champion by the IHSA. The IHSA has very specific rules for designating the conference champion for the purpose of receiving the automatic bid. In this case it would be a two-step process.

1) Remove Rochester from consideration because the Rockets gave up the most points in the head-to-head games they played against the two other teams they tied with. Rochester gave up a total of 75 points in the two games they played against Glenwood and University High. University High gave up a total of 51 points and Glenwood gave up a total of 50 points.

2) Once Rochester is removed from consideration, the IHSA will use the head-to-head result between University High and Glenwood for determining the conference champion. Since University High won that game, they will be designated the conference champion and will receive the automatic bid to the playoffs.

In reality, it should make little difference to the three teams. All three are likely to qualify for the playoffs and different criteria, than those described above, are used for seeding teams in the playoffs.

This is the order in which tiebreakers are determined. As of today, Chatham would be the conference champ.

That is what I read. There is a sentence in the opening paragraph that states "If, after any step is applied, only two teams remain, the head-to-head matchup determines the champion." I think, though, after rereading all the information, that your interpretation is the correct interpretation, not mine. I stand corrected. Only if, for example, both University High and Glenwood had given up 50 points in the two games would the head-to-head provision apply.

Thank you for the clarification.
