Bears

I haven't heard anyone say something about what Eberfool may have been thinking. Someone may have brought this point up and I didn't hear or read it. During the last drive they decided to let the clock run down instead of trying to get a few more yards and move the FG attempt up. I have to wonder if maybe Eberfool trusted his kicking game more than his offense.

I don't think he can win either way. If they run a pass play and Williams throws a pick, or suppose he gets sacked for a 10 yard loss or more? Now you have a long FG to make. Suppose they run and the back gets hit and coughs up the football? There would be huge criticism if one of those scenarios occurred. The Bears don't have a good offense. But they do have a good kicking game, a very good kicker and a successful FG from that distance is very common in the league.

I really can't fault Eberflus on how the game ended. You send in your FG team and they are expected to execute. It wasn't like this was a 55 yard attempt. GB made a play and the Bears didn't.

He said that in his press conference and doubled down on it.
Of all his "questionable" coaching missteps I can at least find his logic. Many times I don't see his logic.
Yes, it is a relatively basic kick in this NFL but Santos doesn't have the huge leg that many in the league have now. He tops out at around 53 yards. With his "shorter" distance his kicks have a lower trajectory something GB coaches said postgame. Also, the D is givcing max effort on that last second FG block as opposed to midgame...Manely mentioned that point on post game.
I would have gone with another run play but I don't have my job on the line. At this point it almost seems like whatever he choses to do is the wrong choice lol.

Never said it was all on him, but at this is factual data, not just "oh the coaches suck".
It is beyond me how anyone can throw a rookie QB under the bus after 10 games. Especially when the guy gets no protection when passing. They just throw the guy in there with very little preseason playing time and expect a Rookie Of The Year performance and with some of the play calling? Yeah outside the new OC, the coaches DO suck. Especially the HC. BTW do you still think this is a playoff team?

Seems to be working out ok for Daniels and Nix. Hell even Maye has looked better in limited action on a terrible team.

Funny how everyone was ready to anoint him before he took a single snap, but when he's not good then we can't judge him based on only 10 games.

I am not going to make excuses for Williams when he doesn't play well. But both the QBs you mention are also on better teams. The Bears, as an organization, suck! It was said right in the beginning that Williams will struggle at times. But the fact is, whatever happened during the last game, in the end Williams got his team in position to win that game, period. That is any QBs job.

Look at today's Sun Times article written by Rick Morrissey. It is a very good article about "why in the hell didn't the Bears make a pitch to hire Jim Harbaugh?" Eberfool should have been let go at the end of last season, AND if not, should have been fired weeks ago.

Yes, I agree when the QB plays badly, it needs to be part of the conversation. But this guy alone isn't the reason they offense is bad. He has a bunch of stiffs trying to block for him.

When it comes down to it, the real reason this team continues to suck starts with ownership and the organization. Read that article if you get a chance. BTW the Chargers were horrible last year and they are now 7-3 and currently a playoff team. Like Harbaugh or not, the guy knows how to win football games. That is all I care about.

And finally I will ask you again. Do you still think the Bears are a playoff team? Answer the question.

I’m not sure we can ask a whole lot more out of Williams. The sack in OT was bad but he was amazing again n the fourth quarter
Can we get a new coach? I am so over this nonsense. Eberflus is a defensive coach but can’t seem to inspire the players. We make dumb mistakes constantly and can’t stop anyone. It’s definitely not the Bears defense we’re used to having.

I think the next coach is already there.

Yeah, let's give a coordinator with no HC experience or consistent results the edge over a proven HC like Vrabel or others.

Being a good coordinator doesn't make you a good HC. Especially OCs

Bears had a chance to get a good HC and they passed on Harbaugh. Terrible organization and that's where all the failures start.

Don't hang this season on the defense. In the big picture they are doing their job. They are giving up an average of 19 points a game. No matter whose defense it is, teams will give up more points than their average now and then. The Bears have given up 22 or more points only twice this year. I would like you to find another team that can say that and still only have four wins.

Bears and AH come to agreement on taxes on AH property, but Bears say focus is still on lakefront stadium.
What are we doing here?
There's no way the Bears leave the opportunity to have whatever they want on the racetrack property in favor of the lakefront restrictions

They are not the defense we thought they would be. It’s disappointing that we can’t stop the run until the red zone. We don’t put enough pressure on the QB when we know it’s a pass play. The defense needs an identity. Eberfool can’t motivate players. I am sure this has something to do with the lack of focus.

They are top 10 in scoring defense and yards/game. They are 11 in rushing yards allowed per game. A top 10 defense is what was expected and that's what they are.

I was disappointed in the D on Sunday, not their best performance, but overall can’t complain.
That is exactly it. No matter how good a defense is they are going to have some bad games. It's a long season and a short one at the same time. But if it wasn't for this defense the Bears might not have two wins.

Wins and losses are what come first. And points scored and given up are what most directly lead to wins and losses. I don't care if the Bears give up yards as long as it isn't leading to a lot of points scored. And at this point in the season it hasn't.

Again I will point you to the fact that the Bears are giving up only 19 points per game and ask you once again, show me another team that has given on average less than 20 points a game but has only four wins. The defense isn't the problem here. What more do you want? I will take an average of less than 20 points a game and be happy with it.

The problem is where they are trending.
Trending? Well. let's take a look at that. In the last five games the Bears have given up an average of 23.2 points. That is not awful. However, in that same span they have scored an average of 14.6 points per game. I don't care how good your defense is, you are not going to win in the NFL if you're scoring 14 points a game. Again, the defense really isn't the bigger problem.

The last two game haven't been great for the D.
I'd have to look up, but they have given up way too many 3rd and long when they could have gotten off the field.
