I read these recent posts and I just shake my head at some of them. To me, it's funny how some of you couldn't wait very long to run Cutler and Trubisky out of town. The same people who did that are now saying we have to look at the entire offense. Hell, I was saying that back in the Cutler and Trubisky days. I said back then, no QB could win with that offense and especially the O-line, and the same holds true today. What the hell has changed?
I will be the first to say the O-line is a complete and total mess. It's amazing this team has won a single game. Thank you defense. If this keeps up, I'll tell you what's going to happen. In time, the fans will turn on Fields just like they have done to every QB before him. And regardless of how he plays it won't be all his fault. But it will happen anyway.
Fields is NOT going to reach his true potential as long as he is with this team and these coaches, GMs (and there will be more) and especially these owners. I personally don't think he is ready to play at this level week to week. Not yet anyway. I said that somewhere else in this or another thread earlier. I haven't seen anything out of him yet that makes me think otherwise. But, he's not in a good system with competent coaches. That's the real problem with him.
The 49ers have had their struggles, but I won't be surprised if they come here and win. The offense puts too much pressure on the defense to hold teams to 17 points or less a game. With yesterday's score, the Bears have given up an average of 23 points a game. But the Bears are scoring an average of 14 points a game. Who in hell wins who scores 14 points a game? The real sad thing is, time for this defense to win is being wasted by an embarrassing offense.
