Bears

I know the officiating was brutal, but consecutive off-side calls? This is a very undisciplined team and that should reflect on the players, but the coaches as well.

No flag for 12 men on the field because it was the ELEVENTH man running off. If I'm Nagy, I'm cringing when the official let the whole world know. They are in over their heads.

At least, we know this is the end of the road with this coaching staff.

Question is? What about Pace? I feel he's to blame for this as anyone else.

Those offside penalties (all 6 of them or so) were a real signal that the inmates are running the asylum. Pace and Nagy both need to be ushered out of town. ASAP.

Yah the officiating was really bad and what made it worse is that it was obvious bad. When the guys in the booth and the official they have with them or former official are all ragging on the crew you know it’s bad.

That said, the discipline of this team is way off the tracks. Consistently lining up offsides, another late hit another taunting penalty (whether you agree or not, by the letter of the rule it was) that comes to the coach and his staff.

With all that, what I saw out of QB1 last night was that of a young man who continues to get better. He TD pass to Mooney was a big time NFL throw. He was clearly the best QB on the field last night and it wasn’t close.

Before everyone gets crazy here, the Bears played three awful quarters offensively and one real good quarter. AND, they lost. The sample size is quite small.

Why did they try a 65 yard FG? Santos doesn’t have the leg for that and that’s not a diss on him. Throw the Hail Mary, the coaching staff is so incompetent. I know it 99% wouldn’t have made a difference but he wasn’t making a 65 yarder outdoors in PIT.

If you’re saying Fields wasn’t good then what would you call Roethlisberger? Yah the offense was spotty but the kid was real real good last night

I'm a Steelers fan, and I'll say they are not a great team. Roethisberger is a tiny fraction of what he used to be. It probably says a whole lot about Tomlin that they are 17-7 the last 2 seasons.

Last FG attempt was a hell of a kick. Heinz Field is very challenging for kickers, and it would have been good from 64 1/2.

Did anyone think Nagy's time out usage at end of game to ice the kicker was stupid. The kicker had already made two from 50+ and the kick amounted to a chip shot for him. There was 30secs on clock so rather than prepare to get in field position with a timeout in his pocket, he wasted it icing the kicker. I just thought that showed his lack of game awareness and confidence in his team's ability to get down into FG range.

Heck, how long did it take the Steelers on their drive? 45 secs. or so

They were going to wind the clock so he had no choice but to call the TO. The clock stopped on a measurement.

The clock was not stopping. Steelers would have let it run down to 3 seconds and call timeout. Nagy had to call timeout to save as much time as possible. I thought the returner not running the ball out was a mistake.

I am not a Steelers fan. But here are some observations I have seen over the years with Roethlisberger and that team, along with the Bears.

1. Roethlisberger has a way of winning ugly games. Whether it's awful weather or an ugly game itself, I have seen him win a lot more than he has lost. Case in point last night. No, he isn't very athletic, but he knows how to win.

2. The last time the Steelers lost at home on a Monday night was in 1991. Guess who their head coach was. Nope not Tomlin. Nope, not Bill Cowher. Yep, it was Chuck Noll in his last year as HC. The streak continues.

3. Now that we're talking head coaches. In that 30 year stretch of home wins on Monday night, the Steelers have had a total of three head coaches. Since 1991 the Bears have had seven. And in Mike Tomlin's tenure alone, the Bears have had four head coaches.

4. The Bears have no continuity in that organization at all with head coaches and GMs. Didn't Matt Forte just say that a short while ago?

5. Now we have a bunch of you singing the same tune..."FIRE THE HC AND GM!!" Fire them and do what? Hire who? This is easy to say. But if or when Nagy and Pace are gone, the Bears will hire some other schmucks and we'll wait a few years and all of you same ones will be writing the same things you are writing now. Which were the same things you were writing in 2017, 2014 and probably 2012. And who knows? probably before that too.

6. Finally the last three head coaches of the Steelers have each won 149 games or more and all three are in the top 21 in lifetime wins. They find these guys and they stick with them. But, I guess that's what happens when you have a football team run by football people or owners smart enough to hire football people.

I didn't mention Roethlisberger in my post. Yeah, I'd say Fields was better than Big Ben. But Big Ben got the W. I like Fields. But let's give him some real game experience before we put him in the HOF ok? I would much rather see him develop in the pocket than to just see him have to run from the danger of a collapsing pocket. I suspect you would too. The wins are what count. I don't want to keep saying, "yeah. Fields played well...but the Bears lost."

One would have to assume Chris Tabor told him Cairo had a chance. He was standing right next to him when the decision was made.

He was good.
Unrelated, the Steelers are garbage.
If the Steelers are garbage, I can't imagine what you call the Bears. First of all the Steelers are in a better division top to bottom. The Steelers have a tougher schedule ahead with, LAC, CIN, BAL twice, TEN, KC and CLE. The remaining schedule for the Bears is easier with DET, MIN twice, NYG. And with the comparison in schedules left I'll bet the Steelers end up with a better record than the Bears.

Stop just stop. He had the best game of his half season career. No one mentioned HOF but to not recognize what he did last night and the continued improvement is just not right. The kid is getting better with a horrible offensive line and an offense without any skill players other than Montgomery.

After Big Ben started taking on sacks in the 2nd half, I thought the Bears might "end" him in a prime time game like they ended Favre in 2010.

I didn't say the guy hasn't improved. He has. I don't agree at all that the Bears have no skill players other than Montgomery. I think Mooney is a good player. I think Robinson is a good player and Kmet had a good game. We'll see how they all progress.

My point was regardless of whether Fields outplayed Roethlisberger or not, Big Ben got the W. But, why don't you ask Roethlisberger how he feels about being outplayed by Fields? My guess is, he would follow up your question with a question of his own that would sound something like, "who won?"

I'd like nothing more than to see Fields succeed because it would lead to wins. The fact is, the bar is so low in Chicago at QB, that anytime a guy has as much as a good quarter, half or game we have to call it a great success. No disrespect to Fields with that last comment either.

Please just get it over w and fire Nagy now. This is unforgivable.

Nagy should be fired in the locker room. Wastes a timeout on an extra point. Then accepts a penalty instead of making it 4th down.
