Bears

How many undrafted QBs succeed in the NFL? Now do being undrafted and a rookie? Looking good in the preseason against guys who aren’t in the NFL is not the sane as a regular season game.
I'll turn that around. How many QBs drafted in the first round coming out of big schools fail at the NFL level? We seem to be watching one right now in a Bears uniform. No one cares where they went to school once a guy puts an NFL uniform on.

Until the Bears fix the issues up front, nothing will change. If they get 2 or 3 first round picks next year, spend them all on the O Line. That immediately makes your whole team better. Your offense stays on the field for more than 3 plays each drive. Your defense gets a rest. Your punter isn't getting more touches than your #1 receiver. Your D Line gets better going against better competition at practice. Etc.
For those of you wanting to get a chance at Caleb Williams, not a chance. He already said he's going to potentially go back to USC if he's not a fan of the teams at the top of the draft. He's not a fan of Da Bears...

Like I said, cut #29 right now! I don't care if he's a rookie.

The crappy defense is working very hard towards mediocrity and #29 ruins it.

He's killing this team now. Put someone else out there.
Boy is this ever a "Chicago type" comment. 😂 😂 OK, let's cut the guy. Then just whom would you put in? Don't say "anyone" because that doesn't work in that league. That "crappy" defense held TB to 20 points and it gave the offense a chance to win. Yeah, TB moved the ball. But last time I checked, the team with the most points at the end of the game wins. To me it's amazing TB didn't score 40 points.

The guy is a rookie and part of being a rookie is learning the NFL game regardless of what the position is. Anyone who was paying any attention to this game before kickoff knew guys like Chris Godwin and Mike Evans were going to give the Bears trouble. Hell they're making Baker Mayfield look good. Evans is a 10 year veteran who has over 10,000 receiving yards and has been to the pro bowl four times. Do you think it's possible the guy knows how to work rookies?

Yeah, Tyrique Stevenson could have had a better game. But, you don't cut him solely on one bad game. I am sure every rookie DB has his bad games. If Stevenson is in his third or fourth year your statement makes more sense.

Well considering 27/32 starting NFL QBs played Power 5 football and 4 others played D1 and 1 played 1AA the odds of an undrafted D2 rookie being passable as a starter are pretty slim. The level you play at in college does matter.

I go by the 3 year plan. I see know improvement. Time to move on. I honestly can’t watch this anymore. It’s brutal. Time to change the channel. Too many needs on this team. 10 draft picks and we might be worse. That’s hard to do but somehow this management was able to fumble it again this year. Did you see where I said the Bucs suck. I mean they really are not good, they are also in rebuild mode. Some how they look better than the Bears.
And herein lies the problem, Corey. Ever few years the Bears spend a lot of money on a QB or use a first round draft pick to select one. a.k.a., Cutler, Trubisky and now Fields. Which makes me wonder why they don't draft one in the low rounds even if they have a starter or someone like Fields...a first round pick. Tom Brady was a low round draft pick. Anyone could have selected him. Most of the time the low picks don't work out. But, the Bears have wasted first round picks on QBs when they could have drafted other position players in those spots.

But in fairness, it isn't just "when" they draft a guy, it's "who's" doing the drafting!

I can't disagree with that. But it isn't fool proof either. You don't just say "well he played DII football. He won't make it at this level." You find out if a guy will make it or not by putting him in the game and seeing.

I said that this year about drafting all o line.

He didn't say any such thing. His dad did. Eventually, he's going to run out of eligibility. Then what if he's not a fan of the top teams?

That's so ridiculous.

From rookie Darnell Wright: "Like when I’m set, I’m not getting off on the snap count," Wright told NBC Sports Chicago of his issues. "Forgetting the snap count at the line and stuff. Going against somebody like Shaq Barrett and if I don’t know the snap count or I forget the snap count or the cadence, I’m already behind the eight ball.”

How the hell do you forget or not know the snap count????

Shaq Barrett knew the snap count.

Nope! I already cut him.

Right now not even Bears fans are a fan of the Bears. Caleb is smart to say what he is saying. He has another year left so he can be picky. I hate to say it but the Bears don’t deserve him. They ruin QBs, they truly have no idea on what they are doing, hence 10 draft picks this year and they are worse than before. Flat out embarrassing for the city of Chicago.

Correct
I mean this year they took an offense lineman first. They went for what perceived needs rather than talent. I said it before they don’t have any idea on what they are doing. Complete idiots .

Shit watch the ball for god sakes. When the ball moves you move. What the heck is wrong with our freaking coaches? Terrible just terrible.

The Bears were the worst team in the NFL last year, and they will be close to that gain this year. I don't really see any reason for optimism in any regard, the organization just sucks.

The guy that tweeted this doesn’t have a sparkling reputation for being exactly a straight shooter. Very National Enquirer esq. I for one will wait and see from an actual journalist.
Had a similar tweet yesterday saying his house AND Halas Hall were raided. Bears said nothing happened at Halas Hall, so I guess today's "fix" is to just say his house.

The entire way this story has been handled is sketchy, which just leads to more twitter speculation about the real story. We'll see.

Brad Biggs, Bears reporter for Tribune who is a respected journalist tweeted this nugget yesterday that “We have been under the assumption that William’s leave week 2 was NOT health and family related”. Read into it what you may, but this does not sound good at all.

My uniformed speculation is that as the defensive play caller he has fixed games, and the fact that over the last 13 games (all losses) Bears opponents scored have 25+ points is my evidence.

Don't think this is it at all. Your logic is flawed because the defense wasn't always responsible for those 25+ points. "D" only gave up 20 last game and how many of the last 13 games did opposing defenses have a TD or set up an extremely short field for their offense, or the Bears inept offense not being able to move the ball set up short fields for opponents?

I'm thinking he's been doing inappropriate things with his no-no parts. Think Mel Tucker level.

As long as we are throwing crap against the wall....

If we're picking ways that he might be a horrible person, Bears fan need to root for "inappropriate things with his no-no parts" over "fixing games". Bears are looking at having 2 picks in the top 10 of the draft next spring. "Fixing games" might lead to NFL removing those picks.... Similar to Miami last draft for violating "the integrity of the game".

Yeah, I'm just so tired of that being what it is. I'm hoping for something more original.

As per the two first round draft picks, I think if the NFL has a coach who is fixing games with how deep they are presently in bed with the gambling sites, the least of their worries might be the 2024 draft.

The league being in bed with gambling sites is exactly why they wouldn't want a coach fixing games, it would cost them too much and the punishment would be the greatest any team has ever seen.

I really don't see any chance this is the case. He resigned voluntarily and if he was fixing games and the league had even a sniff that he was it would have blown up by now and the investigation would be the leading news.

Pat Mcafee said today HIS sources said that Williams home DID get raided. Like him or not he’s got a $150M contract tied to his name. He isn’t saying that unless its rock solid source.
