In the interest of retaining a tradition, I propose to announce a winner of The King's Challenge as well as the winner of two other categories. This will be done in a manner designed to save a large amount of time and therefore make the process manageable. If it cannot be done successfully in the abbreviated manner, then the attempt will be ended. This contest is not affiliated with Edgy's bracket challenge and therefore has no effect on the awards he will be providing in association with his contest.
Here are the three categories:
1) The King's Challenge - The top aggregate point total for classes 8A, 7A, 6A and 5A combined.
2) The Small School Champion - The top aggregate point total for classes 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A combined.
3) The Overall Champion - The top aggregate point total for all eight classes.
The Process - The brackets of ten contestants will be reviewed and totaled. These contestants will be the individual winners for each of the eight classes, plus the bracket for Tim O'Halloran, plus the bracket of Pierre Garesche. Of these ten contestants, the highest point total in each of the three categories described above will be posted by 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28th. (Self Reporting) Anyone wishing to compete in this challenge will need to add up their own point totals for one or more of the three categories described above. If, and only if, your point total(s) matches or exceeds the point total previously posted by me for that category, then please post your point total as a reply to my post. Please include the name you used for your brackets if it is different than the name displayed in your reply. Contestants will have two days to self-report their qualifying point total(s). Replies must be posted by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30th. I will review the replies and audit the possible winners for accuracy. The top point total for each of the three categories will be posted sometime on or before Friday, December 2nd. The tie breaker will be whichever complete set of brackets was submitted first.
Key Aspects - First, you will need to self-report your qualifying score in order to be considered. Second, please only report a qualifying score that meets or exceeds the previously posted score. I hope to need only to audit a handful of scores in each category, not review 20 to 30 posts showing scores that did not match the top score already posted.
Finally, if someone is planning to do a full compilation and list in relation to The King's Challenge, as was done in the past, I will gladly step aside in deference to their work. Please just let me know.
