BYRON at MONTINI?

I did not attend the game last year so I have no first-hand knowledge to share regarding the location. However, both the IHSA ScoreZone and Massey indicate the game was played in Lombard.

I remember reading the quote from the Byron coach. Still, that does not account for the one-point win over Dixon this year. They defeated Dixon by 43 points last year. In both seasons, the loss to Byron was Dixon's only loss during the regular season.

Also, the statement by the Byron coach has no bearing on the fact that Montini seems significantly improved this year, compared to last year.

When all is said and done, Byron is still the defending champion and that should not be overlooked. It is very difficult to defeat a team with the heart of a champion.
Yep, my mistake.

Also, Considine missed multiple games this year.

Dixon is also improved this year and I believe is one of the favorites in 4A.

Game was at Byron last year.

Byron coach has already said back ups were better last year, which is why they put up so many points.

BYRON at MONTINI?

The '99 quarter final game sticks out to me 16-14 JCA after Morris last minute FG goes wide right. JCA walked to the title after that.

Then there was the '05 quarter final game thst involved the RB from Morris that will not be named for fear of making the JCA faithful break out in a cold sweat.
BetelDergo, BetelDergo, BetelDergo...... Nope, nothing happened!

Morgan Park at Metamora

Copy that, should I am for 12:30-1pm in order to get a spot in the lot
All.... Back in the day when Coach Ryan was around the fans were really crazy and got to the stadium hours early. Metamora football while still successful is not at that level and fan attendance I'm told is down. Last time I made the trip was many years ago when the team I follow SHG was playing them. I got there a couple hours early and made it into the lot. That was during Coach Ryan's run.

They haven't had a second round game at home since 2016. I would think the place will be packed. The earlier the better. Ratsy

WB6 Week 11 Playoff preview

Moline @ Quincy: Played week 4 to the tune of a 43-21 Quincy win. But sucky that two of the three remaining WB6 teams play each other round 2, but tis the way of things. Last time these two teams played, it was in Moline. Now, Quincy gets to host. Always harder to play a team the second time around in a season. Moline needs to get a few stops on defense early and the offense needs to hold on to the ball for some long grinding drives. The less time Quincy’s offense can put their flying circus on the field, the more chance for the Maroons. For Quincy, the defense needs to play tough in the trenches against Moline’s ground and pound and get the ball in their offense’s hands as often as possible. Quincy’s offense can not come out sluggish like it did last week. I think Moline can play Quincy tighter this time around, but Quincy still has too much firepower to overcome.

Prediction: Quincy by 2 touchdowns

Geneseo @ Depaul Prep: After railroading through the number 1 seed (yeah, yeah, I know), Geneseo gets a much sterner test against Depaul. Depaul overwhelmed Chicago Dyett 48-8 last week. Depaul looks like they are a fast, athletic spread team with a quarterback who can both sling the rock and take off and beat you with his legs. Their only big loss of the season was to Loyola, but other than that, their other two losses were close affairs (including a 41-38 tilt against St. Francis). Geneseo has not handled athletic teams very well this year and will need to rely on their ground game to limit the amount of game time their defense spends running after athletes. Still a very winnable game for the Leafs.

Prediction: Depaul by a touchdown
With DePaul prep I would not overlook the physicality of the Rams.....big strong physical up front on both sides of the football

CS8 Playoffs Thread - Done and Dusted, Just Like Maroa...

This week is taking forever, isn't it?

ALAH @ QND - Personally, I'm taking the homer pick, duh. But by how much? Idk.. Arthur is going to have a rather large chip on it's shoulder from a year ago. 4-5 QND took a few punches early last year in Round 1, then came out in the 2nd half swinging themselves. They were quite salty when the dust settled last year... And by "they" I mean the Knights. Will never forget the mom complaining to a police officer while leaving last year about "how dirty and physical" those Catholic kids were... 🤣 QND needs to avoid looking ahead to next week. The Macon County Condoms can wait...
QND 41 ALAH 20

Olney @ U-High - I can't convince myself at this time that Olney has a chance. I think U-High poses a real threat to the Tigers' defense, who to this point have seen otherwise pedestrian offenses by comparison with U-High's. With the exception of Casey-Westfield that conference of Olney's was pretty awful. I feel like we see this a lot, right? Team is the big fish in a small fish pond, they meet an average fish from a bigger pond and the average fish wins. You understand... moving on!
U-High 49 Olney 13

JCA @ SHG - Sorry Cycs... the good news is, next year you'll return a ton of talent and you'll still be below 5A for the playoffs. Hoorah!
JCA 42 SHG 14

Glenwood @ Oak Forest - I know next to nothing about Oak Forest other than I think it's where Kyle Funkhouser went to school. That's the type of name I just don't often forget. Anyways, football... I'll take the mighty Titans by two scores... IF the offense gets rolling. If they stall early like they have this year, ruh roh Raggy!
Glenwood 35 Oak Forest 21
Watching the Arthur/North Mac game I see a very tough, hard nosed Knight team. It should be an interesting game but Da Raduha's should handle business.
