WARREN 31, PALATINE 24 —- FINAL

Barrington is 4-3 against Warren in their last seven matchups going back 10 years. Including 1-0 in the playoffs. Barrington did not “take Warren off” of their non-conference schedule. And if they did, it wasn’t because they’re scared of them. They play Maine South now every year.
Who else? Warren plays M.S. let's see if Barrington can stop the run. If Mac runs the ball well. If Warren does lose it will be extremely physical. The game starts in the middle of 3Q. I have seen the last 7 games. When did Mac start coaching? That is what I care about.

Bones that would certainly be a huge upset especially if the student section starts chanting overrated. 😂 I was at a game a few years back where the Nook student section started chanting this and the Griffins woke up and put a beat down on them. It was at the Nook. It was the first time I had been to Minooka. Nice town and school.
Quite the upset it would be but since we fell off, The Nook has the juice now.

BYRON at MONTINI?

Im sure Montini's kids are thinking the same thing since mighty Byron has struggled this season. What Montini's players don't understand is Byron didn't have their main running back/Middle Linebacker for most of the season. Kids don't grasp what they can't see like adults and Im sure they read boards like these and seeing crazy posts where Montini is going to win by 3 scores. They will believe it because they see it. They will get a lesson in indoctrination vs. reality!!!!
Considine was healthy against Dixon.

His dad is the DC and had a nice podcast with Edgy earlier this year.

On it he mentioned that the first stringers this year are just as good as last years but the depth isn’t the same. Last year the backups came in and dominated and that’s why the scores were so bad last year.

Peoria Notre Dame 59 Rochester 58 … “Houston, we have a problem”

I don’t understand what any of this crap has to do with football. Never understood the reason kids feel the need to belittle teammates. I think one game suspension was light but I am not sure what a reasonable punishment should be in this situation. I have no ill will with Rockets or the coach. I don’t believe for a minute the coach wasn’t aware. It’s also weird these lessons aren’t learned from other programs/coaches being punished for the same type behavior. Remember NW.

ICE Playoffs Round 1 and Outlook

Recap:

I saw a 21-14 Manteno score in the 3rd Q on Friday night, which was surprising considering the accolades I heard about U-High. The Pioneers got their act together and won 41-14. I don’t think many expected Manteno to win.

It sounds like Peotone had their chances. An interception was thrown In the end zone right before half from the 6. They also had a couple other turnovers that proved to be too much to overcome. Lost 29-22 after taking a 22-21 lead in the 4th Q. Double edged sword as it was a loss for the league and it helped to create what appears to be worst case scenario for Wilmington’s future home/road situation.

Coal City it looked like gave up a score on Johnsburg opening possession, but methodically took control of the game on their way to a relatively ho hum 41-13 win. Coaler has an interesting matchup @ Boylan in Round 2.

Wilmington was never really tested by Stillman Valley. Wilmington first string defense was pretty dominant against the triple option, and the Wildcat offense did its thing. Both starting wingbacks over 100 yds. Fullback took his only carry 53 yds to the house. 42-7 as Stillman scored late after the clock was running. Wilmington will host Eureka next Saturday at 5.

New IHSA bylaw proposal seeks to eliminate Prep Bowl

Once again this year, the CPL has andvanced only 5 of 26 teams to the 2nd Round in the State Playoffs. Only 1 of those 5 teams defeated a non-CPL school to advance (Morgan Park). No widespread success against anyone other than the CPL itself. Even #1-seeded Whitney Young (9-0) barely escaped #32-seeded Kenwood (4-5) with a 13-12 victory in one of the several CPL-CPL matchups.
I get the broader point you are trying to make, but WY “barely escaping 4-5 Kenwood” isn’t making the point you think it’s making. Kenwood’s losses were to Naz, Franny, WY by the exact same score, the aforementioned Morgan Park, and Simeon.

WY and Kenwood both high quality teams.

WB6 Week 10 Playoff recap

Geneseo 42 @ Chicago Sullivan 0: Another year, another CPL team going undefeated and getting the number 1 seed only to get waxed by a WB6 team (Sterling did it to Payton last year). The Leaf’s defense did not allow Sullivan to get anything going at all and created a lot of short fields for the offense to run around and mostly through. It was 28-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and that was pretty much that.

Addison Trail 13 @ Moline 38: Moline took the opening kick off and hammered it’s way down the field, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Addison Trail would be able to move the ball in the 1st half but after the half, it was pretty much shut down. Moline did a very good job of controlling the ball on offense and creating negative plays or turn overs on defense.

Argo 7 @ Quincy 49: Quincy started out slow on offense, not really getting going until the 2nd quarter. Quincy’s defense came ready from the get go, forcing multiple negative plays and several bad punts which gave the offense good field position. Once the offense got going, it was lights out as Quincy went into the half up 35-0 and launched the running clock soon after the start of the 2nd half.

Sterling 18 @ St. Francis 42: Watching St. Francis’ starters operate against Sterling was like watching a D3 college team play a high school team. Interestingly, the running clock was never launched in this one as the halftime score was 42-3 and St. Francis put mostly 2nd stringers in for the whole second half. I figure that worked for both sides as Sterling got to have some success and both teams got to get their young players more game time.

If it was legit only a couple of kids experiencing a tough financial stretch and some Mom's kicked in the cash for the rings, it it no different than if they paid those families' bills for a month, or made Christmas or a birthday happen. A helping Christian gesture. No harm, no foul, in my eyes. Would Jesus care?

Honestly, I really could not give a rat's ass (bad pun) about Bleachers because that seems like some soft hazing, that some kids looked forward to by taking the pain, sans shirts, a right of passage. The cookie thing ... gross, but it was there own cookie. Just don't shove that Oreo in too deep - and be sure to shower before!!!! And yes, I read the entire report - Senior 17 is a snitch!!! (Snitches get stiches, I always taught the girls!)

Wrestling matches - some as going one-on-ones in practice - a test of manhood. No blows thrown, just strength, balance and willpower. And I would guess you are putting stud against stud, turd on turn. Harmless.

THAT SAID - I could not, as an "adult" condone it. I'd in fact, admonish and strictly ban if I had even a hint, which I am sure D did. One game sitting seems light in that instance.

I have spoken!
I believe I have the same point of view as well. I was honestly curious in knowing the beliefs that others had about the incident. I respect @cornerrat and others for answering my questions, but wonder if their criticisms are clouded for their dislike of the Rocket program as a whole. Some people have the "burn the whole program down" philosophy. When that point of view is shared it makes me think they really aren't arguing for the benefit of the boys.

New IHSA bylaw proposal seeks to eliminate Prep Bowl

They do it in other states is Illinois that weak? Here in Tennessee we had major flooding & some schools played 4 games in 12 days to make up postponed games. Florida same with hurricanes. Ofc Illlinois didn’t play a season due to Covid & that spring crap was a joke.

Its not right in those states either. 20 years ago, IHSA eliminated midweek playoff games due to proven high injurty rates. Keep prep bowl, but ensure player safety is top of mind.

New IHSA bylaw proposal seeks to eliminate Prep Bowl

My biggest issue isn't prep bowl per se, but having kids play way too many games in way to short of a time. PLaying 3 games in 10 games isn't unusual. I am ok keeping prep bowl, but think there need to be some player health improvements.

New IHSA bylaw proposal seeks to eliminate Prep Bowl

Blue KevIL - you swung & missed big time with my comment…

I don’t see the PB as a competitive advantage. Your Sycamore boy does, along with WWS’ Clownbaby.

As is, why eliminate it then?
Not sure how it would appear from my post that I’m in favor of dropping the Prep Bowl because it gives a competitive advantage to anyone. I am not.
I agree with keeping the Prep Bowl.

I simply pointed out the fact that the CPL should be much better in the playoffs every season if the Prep Bowl actually did render a competitive advantage for the CPL. History & this season once again prove that the CPL gains zero advantage from the Prep Bowl. I also pointed out that the best and the brightest of the CCL are not the best and the brightest because of the Prep Bowl — these consistently successful schools rarely participate in the Prep Bowl anyway. They are the best and the brightest for many other reasons. The extra Prep Bowl prep is not one.

The Sycamore AD will see first hand this year for two rounds of the Playoffs that the CPL cannot compete with Sycamore football. The Prep Bowl will not have given either of their two opponents any competitive advantage whatsoever. This will prove that the ADs point is not valid. If the AD did have a valid point, we should see the opposite of the CPL performance every year. The Prep Bowl cannot benefit one participating league and then not benefit the other participating league at the same time. That logic is not sound.

I’m not a “Sycamore boy” - take one look at my posting history and it’ll be easy to figure out where my allegiance lies. If you have neither the time, nor the inclination… I am an alum, I root for, and I have coached dozens of young men over the past 30 years at the youth level who have gone on to play for the Fenwick Friars.
