Just to keep this at the top: 17 years and older can register, and this is for ALL sports.

15 and 16 year olds can also register, but they can only do freshman games.

Stripes.....as a fellow official in a different sport and it being my first year. Do you know why the IHSA charges us to register when there is such a shortage of officials?

A portion of the fee covers the ArbiterSports platform enrollment, Rule and Case book publications, and association subsidies. I suspect the balance is to assure a shared interest in fulfilling commitments and managing those with serious intent.

I wish I had a better answer for you, but the post above spells out a good amount. I’ve had ideas on how to defray the costs, but it’s hard to break through.
