Week 9 Matchups and a few observations
SHG (8-0) at Southeast (1-7) game to be played at SHG w/Southeast the home team
Rochester (7-1) at MacArthur (5-3)
U High (3-5) at Jacksonville (5-3)
Eisenhower (1-7) at Chatham (6-2)
Springfield (3-5) at Lanphier (1-7) game Saturday at Southeast
Southeast has some talent and returned an experienced QB and RB this season but are now going to finish 1-8 and tied for last in the conference.
The Southeast-Eisenhower game drew absolutely no local coverage. I have no idea how the game played out and didn’t get a score until about 10:30 last night. I know they were a combined 1-13 going in but it seemed to end up being a pretty good game.
Jacksonville will likely end up 6-3, but they didn’t show well at all against Rochester last night. Whether they end up in 4A or 5A, they will need to be much better to have a chance at getting out of the first round. I will say the same for Mac, who should be in 5A. A win is a win but last night was a poor performance. Remember U High lost to Springfield at home earlier this year by 3 scores.
Chatham should get a 6A home game with their 7-2 record. I think they have a reasonable chance to get to the second round but am unsure if they can go any farther.
After giving up 62 points to SHG opening night, the Rocket defense has given up only 70 points over the next seven weeks.
