Three Friday night games, 1 forfeit, and 1 Saturday contest in Week 4. Springfield at SHG the game of the week.

Friday
Jacksonville (1-2) at Lanphier (0-3)
Forfeit win for Jacksonville due to COVID. Sounds like they cannot get a replacement game. Lanphier will hopefully return next week.

U High (1-2) at Southeast (2-1)
Big game for both teams and should be close. Both teams won by forfeit last week. Southeast has likely not been 3-1 in a long time. U High played well with Jacksonville for a half two weeks ago and would like to build on that effort. Normally would take Southeast at home but think U High has a little more offensive firepower. U High 24 Southeast 18

Rochester (2-1) at Eisenhower (0-3)
This game should give Rochester an opportunity to get their rotation running backs more carries and to work on the passing game that disappeared in the 2nd half against SHG. Hope Hank Beatty has to carry the ball as little as possible after 28 carries against SHG. Eisenhower has battled each week but has been running clocked the last two. Rochester 49 Eisenhower 7

Springfield (3-0) at SHG (2-1)
83-12 was the spring outcome in favor of SHG. Both teams remember that April contest. SHG was head and shoulders above the rest of the CS8 in the spring. They are still very dangerous but the conference is much more balanced now. Can Rashad Rochelle get his 3rd win in 4 tries against SHG and the 2nd at SHG? Ratsy can correct me, but I think Nazareth, Chatham, and Springfield are the only visiting teams that have ever won at Ken Leonard Stadium. After taking Rochester to the last minute, will SHG have any kind of let down? I wouldn’t be shocked if Springfield wins but expect SHG to come out on top in a shootout. At home, I think their defense finds a way to get 1 or 2 more stops than Springfield. The Cyclones do not want to see a Springfield postgame celebration. SHG 49 Springfield 40

Saturday
MacArthur (1-2) at Chatham (2-1)
Mac looked good Week 1 against U High and then has forfeited the last 2 weeks. This is a big game for them if they want to be playoff eligible. A 2 week layoff and playing at Chatham though puts Mac at a disadvantage. Chatham got a big win on the road against Jacksonville last week. They have a good mix of running and passing right now. Mac will test their defense but Chatham should go to 3-1. Chatham 38 Mac 22

All.... Indianapolis Cathedral in a non con. Boy were they good. It was going to be a two year deal. The next season the game would be in Indiana at Lucas Oil Stadium where the Fighting Irish played their home games. If I recall correctly a schedule conflict prevented it because Cathedral started the season one week earlier then Illinois teams and it didn't line up.

SHG scrambled to get a game to replace them and found another good one. Whitehaven out of Tenn. The Cyclones defeated them that year in town at Ken Leonard stadium. Ratsy

shg gave up 2 special teams touchdowns in that game. you'd think they could hire a decent special teams coordinator.

All..... Lol . A long time ago. All I really remember were the Rams had 20 or so in a row before the Cycs stopped that. Looking up Indy some things never change. 4-0 and ranked #2 in Indiana presently. The good ole days those non cons..... But now on to the Senators. Go Cyclones! Ratsy

SJR sports reporter predictions:
Southeast 21 U High 14
Rochester 65 Eisenhower 7
SHG 48 Springfield 45
Chatham 30 MacArthur 28

All Finals
SHG 52 Springfield 7. SHG scored the final 45 points, forced 5 turnovers, and really contained Rashad Rochelle. Springfield had at least a half dozen offsides or false start penalties and did a poor job of protecting Rochelle. Really impressive effort by the Cyclones in all phases to get a running clock over a ranked 6A team. QB Lott looked good again and his receivers get open and make plays. Power running attack worked well after Springfield had some early success stopping the outside run. Springfield had a shot to get within 31-14 early in the 3rd but fumbled at SHG’s goal line and never really threatened again.

U High 43 Southeast 21. Good win for U High at Southeast to go 2-2. Southeast falls to 2-2.

Rochester 54 Eisenhower 20. Rochester did get a running clock in the second half. Sounds like Hank Beatty had at least 3 TD throws in the 1st half. Doesn’t seem like the defense played particularly well. At home against Springfield next week, they will need to play better. In each of the previous games with Springfield, Rochelle has kept them in the game for a while by extending plays and making long runs. As rough a night as he had against SHG, he’ll want to bounce back next week.

Saturday Final
Chatham 42 MacArthur 34. On the road after two forfeit COVID weeks, Mac gave Chatham a battle but came up short. Chatham’s offense had 450 yards. Mac was also hurt by 14 penalties. Chatham’s defense did have problems with Mac’s passing game, giving up 275 yards and 4 TD’s. Mac now will likely need to beat both Springfield and Jacksonville to be playoff eligible.

shg should've had a running clock in the middle of the 3rd quarter but fumbled at the 1 going in and shs recovered for a touchback.

That was the only mistake of the night. Hats off to the players and coaches on a dominant performance. I wasn’t shocked SHG scored 52 but would have never imagined Springfield only getting one TD.
