Bears

I don’t think many people are selling Young as Mahomes but they are selling Young as 1st overall QB taken. I think on film, I would agree, but the small body frame Young has will have him elip to 2nd QB taken behind Stroud.

Drew Brees and K. Murray both small stature players but Murray has much more speed and is a thicker body type imo than Young.

I like Young, but if I were take a QB I would take Stroud first this year.

Would Carolina give up EDGE Burns, 9 overall, and a ‘24 1st? I think 9 overall might be the worst asset of this group.

Things are gonna start to get interesting with combine and team workouts. Someone could fall in love with the UF QB, will have all the measurables.
No chance UF QB is taken 1 overall. If anything him being available past the first few picks could hurt the Bears haul for 1 if a team falls in love with Richardson.

Malik Willis had same profile last yr and had discussions of being top 10 pick this time last yr, yet he was a 3rd rd pick in the worst QB class in decades. I’m not eaying Richardson is a bad prospect, just that I dont see any way he flies up the draft past all 3 top QBs currently ahead of him.

Just using him as an example, lots could change in the next few weeks on #1.

I wouldn't doubt that somewhere the McCaskeys had a toast last night just before 9:00 PM regarding the results. LOL!!

Big news today that likely affects Bears decision… Jalen Carter (one of the top 2 non QBs in draft) - has 2 warrants out for arrest from motor accident that killed a player and team staffer in January.

Apparently Carter was street racing. Car whose passengers died read at 104 MPH before crash.

I don't know if it's me or what. The further this idea of whom the Bears will draft or if they will trade down seems to get more muddled by the day.

They are for sure trading the pick. They question is when, who and how many trades.
It doesn't take long for my eyes to glaze over when reading all this crap. Hard to concentrate with the baseball season around the corner. Very hard for me to do football during the off season and when kickoff is months away. It's just me I guess.

Baseball? Last I checked the Sox still have Grandal at catcher. He can never throw anyone out on the base paths and defensively is horrible behind the plate.

The Sox kept their largest liability on the team which tells me they are not serious about winning.

Actually, the largest liability the Sox have is owner Jerry Reinsdorf. He's the guy who isn't serious about winning. Big time POS.

Reinsdorf paid the big money but didn't get his money's worth. Team had a lot of slackers with attitudes to match, which drove out Abreu.

Who they draft depends on who they pick up in free agency. But with the Panthers likely having a down year this season and the Bears in year 2 of the rebuild we are looking at possibly 2 top 10 picks in 2024. Great job with this.

Lovie Smith deserves a statue in Chicago for winning that meaningless game for the Texans in the final game of the season

I think they trade again. If a QB drops I bet they do
I don’t want them to trade the 9th pick. You can get an impact player in the top 10. Will Anderson or a Big DT or Top OT. We can use another impact player. So far the trade was good but let’s not trade for a bunch of low round non impact players, because we already have a bunch of those picks.

Extremely doubtful Anderson will drop to 9

Agreed - interesting to see what they do next week. Carter could also be there at 9

I think Carter is there at 9. Don't trade that pick away.

And I am the one that usually always wants the Bears to trade down with their draft picks to get more picks.

First of all, we are talking about the Bulls. Not the White Sox. Pippen got totally hosed by Reinsdorf. He purposely tore that team apart and none of those guys like or respect him.

Secondly, you must not have been paying attention to the Abreu situation. He said all along that he wanted to re-sign with the Sox but any offer talked about was insulting. Knowing Reinsdorf, I believe Abreu. Of course now that Abreu is in Houston... a team that is actually trying to AND winning...I am sure he will be much happier and I think he will have a solid year with a 1st place team as the Sox' struggles continue.

It will be very interesting to see what happens when Anderson's contract ends and he commands big money.

I have heard a few people saying the Cubs will win more games than the Sox this year. I don't think I am ready to jump on that train yet. But they do have my ear.

I think we all know just how bad the Bears have been when it comes to receivers. But I didn't realize D.J. Moore has more career receiving yards in five years than any other player on the Bears in history. Johnny Morris STILL leads all career receivers with 5059 yards. He is still the only one to amass 5000 yards. He isn't even in the top 250 receivers all time in the NFL. It's not a bad career for Morris but GEEZ!!

Here are more numbers. Fields was sacked on 14.75% of his drop backs in 2022. That is the most of any QB who threw at least 300 passes in a season since the AFL-NFL merger. The Bears' 20 sacks last season were the second fewest in franchise history since sacks became an official stat in 1982. There are a lot more but I guess that is part of the reason they were so bad last season.
