Bears

Yeah, it's pretty simple. The more he runs, the greater the chance is in his being injured, thus shortening his career. These guys know the risks. You want to play the flashy style? Then sooner or later you will pay the penalty. Remember...this isn't college football. These are NFL players delivering those hits.
Bears fans need to understand Fields has never been a running QB. He can run when needed but he is not a LaMar Jackson or Michael Vick. If the Bears start trying to make him a running QB it will spell doom for Fields. Fields was drafted by the Bears because he could move to avoid a pass rush etc. If they continue to design running plays for him like they did in this last game it’s eventually not going to end well. IMO

If we can get 10 years out of him in this type of offense that'd be awesome.
10 YEARS??!!! What the F are you smoking?! The Bears haven't had a QB who lasted 10 years since good old Sid Luckman played the position! Were you around back then? Neither was I. I think MC63 is probably the only guy on this board who remembers Luckman. Of course MC63 was around 30 years old at the time. 😂 😂 😂

Keep building through the draft.

I feel the Bears had 3 of the 4 best players on the field Monday.

Fields, R Smith and Brisker. Udon from the Patriots was a beast.

Many of us in Chicago aren’t used to seeing a team built from the ground up. I like what he’s doing. It’s going to be painful but so has been being a Bears fan.

This team has huge cap space and a lot of picks. That’s how you get this sort of thing figured out. Who knows, in a bid awful NFC they could be a playoff team next year.

It’s the NFL, they for sure “could” be a playoff team next year.

Lake you are right. I think the last time was the 85 Bears. Then after they won the SB they let them go so they didn’t have to pay them. Lol

Great points but zero truth to them. Fields is a true dual threat. His passing is getting better and his legs are lethal. He didn’t need to run much in Columbus with all of that talent around him.

Fields and the Bears are fun to watch. Fields could be special with a few more pieces… line help and a true go get it WR…

A loss that almost feels like a win.
Agreed.

Good thing we got 125m cap space to work with this off-season. Will be interesting come spring time.

I get it and agree. I just want him to last. IMO He has turned the corner. I am a stickler with my own 3 years of improvement but he he is moving in the right direction! I am loving it! Go Bears!!! I know they lost today but they are moving in the right direction. 😊

I love his progress and improvement too.

But running that much in the NFL is risky. I will feel better if they can draft two more great offensive linemen in the next draft.

I hear you but the line wasn’t the problem today. The defense gave up 35 points. This needs to be addressed. Just saying. 😊

That’s the sow the Bears will reap rest of season from trading the best LB in the league. Defense won’t be pretty moving forward ROS, but at least Fields is finally improving.

Agree. He’s one tough SOB and you can tell that he’s starting to get some relaxation in his game. It’s slowing down, he’s seeing things that he didn’t see two months ago or last year, and he has a coaching staff that is playing to his strengths.

I know almost nothing about football, but what I do know is that if this special athlete keeps running for a 100 plus yards a game he’ll be out off football in 5 years. I see his game getting better as a passer and I’d rather see him become great back there picking apart defenses. Call me crazy.

Sanborn with a nice game. A couple sacks and a handful of tackles. Kmet with a pair of touchdowns. Keeping to the plan of developing Fields will maintaining draft position.

This season is done great to see the Bears score 30. Not great that Fields is running so much, not great the Bears defense gives up 31 to a crap team. Any who next season will be interesting with all the draft picks. 👍

And the $100 million in cap room. Should be able to get some weapons and linemen

Name a running QB to win a Super Bowl
He is running out of necessity because he has so few playmakers and his line stinks at pass protection. When they upgrade the receivers and line then we can judge him but his throwing has looked much improved the last 4 weeks.

So with this talent pool what would you have him do? Hat is your solution? Let him sit back there and get his brains beat in because “running quarterbacks aren’t legit?”

There is no pleasing some people I swear

My thinking is long term. If Fields is the answer then my concern is he cannot read a defense or go through his progressions. If his Primary target isn't there then he takes off instead of finding someone else. While that has been entertaining right now, how sustainable is that?

He needs help, obviously but the fact that he resorts to running above all else scares me.

Pretty sure no one is open and the protection is breaking down. He seems to try to give them a chance before taking off.

Team is bad with some potential on offense. Regarding the last two weeks (Miami/Dallas), I was wondering if Eberflus was, indeed, worth his salt. I am not saying he should be fired, but he is a defensive-minded guy.

One would think he'd be able to come up with at least, ONE scheme/package to make ONE stop with the puke talent he has. Just ONE. Having typing this off my chest, I have accepted a 4-5 win season with a solid R1 pick.

Picked Fields off waivers two weeks ago in my FFL, and he alone has averaged 45.00 points from the QB position. Unfortunately, I played against Mahomes this week, so it was a wash.

Some times you may be correct but if you see the film, watch all of the replays. He is absolutely amazing, but if his first instinct isn't there he runs. There's no 2nd or 3rd option, it's either the first guy or run. That's not long term success
