Bears

Never said I was the source. Here you go and decipher it as you wish.

If you were going to interview would you want an in person or virtual? Enough said this take was totally speculative. Sports Mockery! I wouldn’t read to much into this report. McCarthy just may be the Bears next HC. I am surprised Pete Carrol isn’t being mentioned. I still like him, he’s younger than a 61 McCarthy ! 😂

They'll interview more in person, but they can't if that candidates team is still playing until after this weekend.

Dude, you love the rumor mill.

It’s an NFL organization…no one has any idea what direction they or any other NFL org is heading in.
The Bears have no idea what they are doing and they are sure to screw it up. It’s the Bears dysfunctional top management team.
They would be better to higher an outside recruiter to hire the HC. 😂

They've tried that

I was thinking they did just wasn’t sure. Nothing can help them!
IMy top 3 are Johnson, NcCarthy & Carrol in no particular order.they will probably hire someone nobody wants not even the other teams. 😂
Gotta go Johnson, Monken, Brady

I vote for Johnson.

In other news, the Bears just interviewed their 47th candidate.
Why are people upset that they're interviewing so many candidates? Don't you want the Bears to get it right?

If the Bears had interviewed 3 guys and already made a hire people would be talking about how they rushed the process.

You follow the Bears and still believe they give a crap about optics?

They said they have a plan and to trust them. When you interview everyone and their brother is sure comes off like you have no plan.

I like Johnson, Carroll and Kingsbury

Meh, northern burbs, western burbs, same thing. Either way I'd take him in a heartbeat for the Bears next coach.

No one knows how any of these candidates will do as a HC, but what if they fail? Were they a bad coach or was it on the Bears?

Johnson interviewed for HC positions in 2023 and 2024 and rumor is he interviews terribly. Some coaches are amazing coordinators, but don't have what it takes to be a HC. Perfect example is Vic Fangio, one of the best DC's to ever do it but was an awful HC.

I'm sure people here will lose their minds in one way or another no matter who they hire before he even coaches a game. I find it funny how upset people are getting just over who they interview and how many interviews they've done. It's like you want to be mad about something.

Huh? I want to be mad about something?

And Monken is from Wheeling
Gotta go Johnson, Monken, Brady
Interesting. You would rather go with these guys that really have no head coaching experience. Monken? He was the HC at Southern Miss for 3 years record of 13-25.

So true. I don’t trust the Bears brass but so what I realize we have no control over who they hire. Most likely they screw the pooch again based on past hires. A4 from what I seen about Monken he has only been a HC in college and his record was 13-25. Not good. I am not saying he can’t do well with the Bears but seems like it would be a stretch with the Bears organization. Why are you so high on him?

He was 13-25, but you need to dig deeper into that record. He was 1-11 year one, 3-9 year two, and 9-5 year three before making the jump to the NFL. Plus I'm not going to get too hung up on a 3 year coaching stint with a bad college team 12 years ago. I like him because of what he's done with Lamar and being the OC on back to back national title teams at Georgia.

No one has HC experience until they do. Kyle Shannahan was never a HC before the 49ers, Mike Tomlin was never a HC before the Steelers. Mike McCarthy got his first HC job at GB. Just because someone has experience doesn't guarantee success.

Agree but there is no guarantee. You seem pretty set on him and I was just asking why. Yes losing record in college is not the end all and yes that first couple years was brutal. The Bears certainly don’t have a winning record the last few years. Is he a strong enough leader to change the culture and everything else as a head coach? Maybe but maybe not. On paper he would not be my first choice, but it’s a crap shoot.

And now reports we asked to interview Mike Tomlin.

Is there anything we do where we don’t mess it up and make fools of ourselves?
I don't get why you're so against exploring all possible options. They can't interview coaches in person who's teams are still playing until next week so what's the harm in reaching out in the meantime?

How should the HC interview process have gone in your eyes?

For once…we agree

Idk how many examples to the question one can give, but here's another one. Would you rather someone looking for minerals/oil/gold whatever to just dig random holes hoping they would find what they are looking for, or would you like them to do some research and have a plan on where to dig? Seems to me like one has a much better chance to succeed

So what's the acceptable number of interviews that would have satisfied you?

The Bears have their top candidates, but there's no guarantee they land one of their top guys so they need to have a backup plan. Why not make contact with those guys now instead of scrambling if they don't land their top guy?

People are saying they're wasting their time, but how is it wasting their time when it is literally their job to find a new coach?

I get it 4A but if they have a limited number why not start serious negotiations. Why keep interviewing others that you know are not going to be your guy? If I am a coach they interviewed and felt it was a really good interview leaving, what does that say to them when they here they are interviewing someone that really has no chance. Enter their interim coach! 😂

PS: They promote that interim coach! 😂
At that point I am no longer a Bears fan and Caleb Williams needs to ask for a trade. Damn

The Packers OC. Again, so what? So how many interviews is the appropriate number for you?
This one is dumb. He’s the OC who doesn’t call plays.

He has no chance.

Bears leadership kept saying you can trust us bc we have a great process. When you interview everyone from all walks of life…it says…” we have no process”.

You want them to start negotiating with a candidate they've only interviewed through Zoom?

At this point they don't know who the guy will be. Say Johnson is their #1 guy, what if he signs with another team? Would you rather have their next choice be someone they've already spoken with once or start the process over from square one?
