Warren Township welcomes back a tremendous amount of returning starters (19) for the 2024 season including 10 starters back on offense. Warren Township was able to get the passing game clikcing especially later in the 2023 season and senior QB Jack Wolf (6-foot-4, 190 pounds) looks like a kid who's ready for a big season this fall. Wolf has a big arm, great size and overall tools and if the Blue Devils have a consistent play action passing game this fall....look out.

Looking or a sleeper name to watch this fall for Warren Township? Warren Township junior DB Chris McBride is a terrific all around athlete and defender who could very well develop into the program's next high level recruit.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Warren Township Blue Devils

Warren Township and head coach Bryan McNulty has build the Blue Devils program into a state power in Class 8A and also state wide. Warren Township head coach Bryan McNulty has posted an impressive 81-27 record in 10 seasons. The Blue Devils have missed the IHSA state playoff field just once (2016) in those 10 seasons.

The biggest question facing Warren Township this summer?

Can the Blue Devils beat the elite names in the 8A bracket and win a state title in 2024? The Blue Devils always wind up running into a buzzsaw in 8A, including taking on 8A power Lincoln Way East in three out of the program's last four state playoff appearances. Can Warren Township get over the hump this season? You can always expect a few things from the Blue Devils...they will play very hard nosed defense, have a ton of speed and athletes and they play very fast and physical. The Warren Township roster is strong this coming season and if the offense can continue to be effective and balanced while the defense does what it always does....this team can play with and against everyone here in 8A.

Impact Player for Moline

Moline will welcome back a very experienced starting lineup on both sides of the field this fall and a few players will be asked to make significant contributions this fall. Moline senior RB/LB Adrian Cooper (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) is a multi-year starter and high level athlete for the Maroons. Look for Cooper to again be a major impact player on both sided of the football in 2024.

Looking or a sleeper name to watch this fall for Moline? Moline junior OL Brody Basala (6-foot-4, 280 pounds) has the frame and look of a young player who will continue to gain recruiting traction this fall for the Maroons.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Moline Maroons

Moline and head coach Mike Morrissey is looking to bounce back from 4-5 regular season in 2023 which saw the Maroons lose a handful of tight games (Geneseo/Sterling) that with a win would have gotten Moline into the playoff field. Moline head coach Mike Morrissey is entering his 8th season as the Maroons head coach and has a 45-23 record at Moline.

The biggest question facing Moline this summer?

Can the Maroons close out and win tight games this coming season? Moline will welcome back 16 returning starters (8 offense 7 defense) and includes several multi-year starters in the fold. I get the feeling that the Maroons will not need much motivation to turn things around this fall and get back to its winning ways this fall.

Preseason Ranking? EDGYTIM Class 7A Preseason Top 10 consideration

2024 EDGYTIM Preliminary Class 7A Top 10 poll

1. Chicago Mount Carmel -
Sure the Caravan graduated an amazing senior class which set the bar incredibly high for all incoming classes for the next several years. The Caravan offense welcomes back just a handful of returning starters, but senior QB Jack Elliott (Vanderbilt) is one heck of a place to begin reloading. Elliott also will lean on returning senior TE Danyil Taylor back this fall along with OL Nick Lewanski plus junior OL Lamont Miller. The Mount Carmel defense will need to reload a bit as well, but junior 4 star ranked DE Braeden Jones is back and also keep an eye on senior DB Havy Payne (EIU) and senior LB Michael Mucha. Again the Caravan will need tp break in several new faces and names....but the overall talent level has never been as high or as deep as this current roster.

2. Edwardsville - Edwardsville long time assistant coach and new first year head coach Kelsey Pickering will take over the Tigers program in very good shape this season. The Tigers welcome back an impressive 16 returning starters for the 2024 season (9 offense 6 defense) and again features several impressive athletes back on both sides of the football. The Edwardsville offense will lean on 4 starters back on the offensive line this season in junior Aaron Kunz, junior Lucas Kunz pl;us senior Hayden Volz and junior Roman Janek and a strong running game with senuor RB Steven Moore Jr. and senior RB Patrick Chism. The Tigers defense is anchored by senior 4 star ranked DE Iose Epenesa (6-foot-5, 250 pounds) who is one of the top recruits in the nation this summer. Edwardsville has some questions to answer this summer including at QB and on the defensive line, but again the Tigers more often than not have answers in house.

3. Downers Grove North - The Trojans had a terrific in 2023 making it to the 7A state title game before losing to Mount Carmel in the state game. DGN and head coach Joe Hornei will rely on 14 returning starters back including 9 on the offendive side of the football. The Downers Grove North offense begins with junior 3 star ranked QB Owen Lansu who is already holding Power 4 offers this summer and who will look towards senior WR Charlie Cruse along with junior WR Oliver Thulin plus junior WR Matt Troha plus four starters are back on the Trojans offensive line. The defense for Downers Grove North will have experience back at linebacker and in the secondary, as senior LB/TE Joe Edwards is a name to watch along with senior LB Weston Waughop and senior LB Jack Gregorio.

4. Brother Rice The Crusaders are looking for bigger and better things this season and welcome back several key names from a season ago. The Brother Rice defense has several key names to watch led by senior 4 star ranked LB Christian Pierce plus senior DT Charlie Stec and junior DT King Liggins. The Crusaders offense also has key names to watch including senior WR Jimmie Maxson III (North Dakota) along with senior RB Tyler Lofton (Illinois State) and this is a hungry Brother Rice team looking for bug things this fall.

5. Batavia The Bulldogs and veteran head coach Dennis Piron graduated a pretty senior heavy roster this past spring, yet Batavia never rebuilds they simply reload. The offense will need to replace several key names especially in the offensive skills, but keep an eye on senior WR Isaiah Brown plus junior OL Ryan Myers who is already holding D1 offer this summer. The defense also welcomes back junior LB Jacob Jansey along with senior DB/RB Chase Osbourn and the defense is always a streength fore the Bulldogs year in and year out.

6. St. Rita The Mustangs and head coach Martin Hopkins welcome back 12 returning starters this summer including 7 names back on defense. The Mustangs will look towards a steady passing game led by junior QB Steven Armbruster along with senior QB Tom Kelly while senior RB Nick Herman looks ready for a big 2024 season. St Rita junior WR/DB Walter Jones is a speedy game breaker receiver to watch this fall. The Mustangs defense ha sstrength at linebacker in senior James Kingsbury along with senior LB Justin Buckner and senior DL JP Danaher.

7. Hersey The Huskies have a handful of major impact names this summer in senior 3 star ranked QB Colton Gumino (UCLA) and senior 3 star ranked TE Logan Farrell (North Carolina) and the offense could carry this team along ways this fall.

8. Normal Community The Ironmen are coming off a very strong 2023 season as head coach Jason Drengwitz led Normal Community to the Class 7A state semifinal round. Normal Community will relu heavily this season on senior QB Kyle Beaty who had an all state caliber season for the Ironmen and his two main weapons this fall include senior RB Calen Taylor along with senior WR MarQuan Gary while senior OL Bradyn Mazanowski will be a key in rebuilding the Ironmen offensive line this summer. This program has continues to make real progress over the past handful of seasons, yet the Ironmen's depth will also be tested this summer.

9. Quincy The Blue Devils and head coach Rich Little had a tremendous run in 2023 for about 11 weeks but then ran into Class 7A state champion Mount Carmel who beat Quincy in Quincy 61-14 to end the season. The good news for the Blue Devils is standout QB Bradyn Little is back this fall and a handful of his key target are also back in senior RB Jeraius Rice along with senior WR Ty Hammers. The Quincy defense also brings back some key names in junior DL/OL Todd Smith (6-foot-5, 260 pounds) plus senior S/WR Rico Clay (Illinois State).

10. Wheaton South The Tigers and head coach Sean Norris has a nice core of returning starters back for this season on both sides of the football The Tigers offense is led by multi-tear starting QB senior Luca Carbonaro along with senior TE Brady Goken, senior WR Amari Williams (NIU) and several impressive athletes to watch this summer. Look for the Tigers to be one of a handful of Dukane Confernence schools

My 5 7A Teams Who Just Missed:

St. Charles North -
The North Stars are one of a handful of teams in the always tough DuKane conference worth considerations here. St Charles North and head coach Rob Pomazak has a stellar signal caller in senior QB Ethan Plumb who's a name to watch this fall.

Prospect- The Knights and head coach Dan DeBoeuf also has continued to get the Prospect Knights to the upper tier of the Mid Suburban East and should be ready to again challenge for a conference title this fall.

Bradley- The Boilermakers and veteran head coach Craig Kohl are coming off a 7-4 season in 2023 and Bradley along with the rest of the Southwest Suburban Red teams will get a new regular season test in the newly combined SWS/Dukane...survive that schedule and this could be a very dangerous team again this fall imn the post-season.

Yorkville The Foxes and head coach Dan McGuire has continued to build up this program each season and Yorkville might have one of it's better overall rosters this coming season. The Foxes also get tested come playoff time playing in the mainly 8A sized Southwest Prairie West conference.

Lincoln Way West The Warriors have also been positive strides over the past handful of seasons under head coach Luke Lokanc and the roster has some serious talent led by senior LB Josh Veldman (Northwestern) along with senior WR Austin Rowswell and a big and physical line play.

Lets Talk 8A: Preliminary EDGYTIM Class 8A Preseason Top 10

2024 EDGYTIM Preliminary Class 8A Top 10 poll

1. Loyola Academy
- Pretty hard to not rank the back to back defending 8A state champion Ramblers here. Loyola is again stacked with talent especially in the offensive slills department led by senior QB Ryan Fitzgerald (Iowa PWO) RB Drew MacPherson (Iowa) along with a starting senior WR corp that has talent and impressive skills. The offensive line reloads along with the D line and while the defense is light on experience, they are heavy on potential. Senior S Donovan Robinson (Washington) will become a major impact leader for the Ramblers defense this fall.

2. Lincoln Way East- The Griffins remain at the elite level in 8A. Adding in transfer 4 star ranked junior QB Jonas Williams this winter from Bolingbrook is huge and could provide the Griffins offense a new gear or two that they haven't had in....forever? The East offense also has playmakers led by senior TE Trey Zvonar (Miami of Ohio) along with senior RB Zion Gist (Western Michigan) and a receiver group that also has speed, hands and skills. The line play remains strong again and the defense is also a bit inexperienced but that never seems to be a huge issue for this program that just finds a way.

3. Maine South The Hawks and veteran head coach Dave Inserra also has plenty of firepower again in 2024 and some key areass of strength this summer. The offense got a big season in 2023 from QB Constantine Coines who was pressed into the starting job after a 1st game injury to the starter. Coines is battling with sophomore QB Jameson Purcell who is one of several major D1 recruits in a loaded QB class. The Hawks will also rely on senior RB Mike Dullumo, and Dullmo will operate behind a big strong and very physical O line with 4 returning starter back. The Hawks defense will be a bit inexperienced but the talent looks to be there this summer and was impressive in 7on7 play. Maine South senior DL Tyler Fortis is a leader who can be an impact defender for the Hawks.

4. York The Dukes this winter saw the sudden departure of former head coach Mike Fitzgerald to Marist. In steps longtime York DC Don Geslomino as the new man in charge and look for the Dukes to reload and to still remain a team to beat in the West Suburban Silver in 2024. No question the Dukes have some relaiding to do at some key spots, but look for players such as Notre Dame commit 4 star OL/DL Joseph Reiff to lead the way along with a roster that has as much depth and underclassmen talent as any in this loaded conference.

5. Glenbard West The Hitters also look impressive this summer and the Hilltoppers have firepower (Mason Ellens) and playmakers (Terion Oriental) as well as a big strong O Line (Northwestern commit OT Michael OConnell) and a defense that's always a calling card.

6. Warren Township- The Blue Devils always have speed and athletes and that no question a strength again this fall. The Blue Devils welcome back 19 returning starters back (10 offense 9 defense) and keep an eye out on senior QB Jack Wolf, senior RB/DB X'Zavion Montgomery, RB Aaron Stewart plus the entire starting linebacker group and secondary return from a season ago.

7. Barrington The Broncos and veteran head coach Joe Sanchez and staff does as good of a job as any program in the state of reloading year in and year out. The Broncos offense will reload a bit behind senior QB Nick Pempert while the defense will welcome back a ton of experienced returning starters from a season ago led by senior DE/OLB Jack Burzynski.

8. Naperville Central The Redhawks have looked good this summer and is one of several teams that will have a big regular season schedule to overcome in 2024. The talent level looks promising this summer.
Senior QB Sebi Hayes (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) is a name to watch along with incoming transfer senior WR DeShaun Williams plus a defense that welcomes back 7 returning starters led by senior DE Jake Stanish (Miami of Ohio).

9. St. Ignatius All the Wolfpack and head coach Matt Miller has done is overcome every obstacle they have faced, win games and become a very dangerous post-season team no one wants to face. St Ignatius welcomes back an impressive 12 returning starters led by QB Jack Wazung who is an impressive triggerman in the Wolfpack's impressive triple option run game.

10. Palatine The Pirates and head coach Corey Olson played several underclassmen in 2023 and this will be a team with a ton of talented players all over the starting lineup. Keep an eyr on junior OL Tony Balanganayi who already has Power 4 offers along with senior OG Parker Brault (Marshall) plus senior OL Evan Downer while senior 4 star ranked DE Jaylen Williams has the tools to have a major senior season for the Pirates.

My 5 8A Teams Who Just Missed:

Marist The Redhawks had a very rare down season in 2023 and I don't expect that to happen again this fall. Back is former Redhawks head coach and OC Mike Fitzgerald and look for the Redhawks offense to ramp things upo considerably this fall. Senior DE Brad Fitzgibbon (Iowa) is a key impact player along with senior DE Achilles Anderson.

One Southwest Suburban Blue Team: Take your pick between say Homewood-Flossmoor, Lockport and/or Sandburg who seems to be a favorite dark horse pick for those in the know this summer.

One DuPage Valley Team: Naperville North, Neuqua Valley or maybe Waubonsie Valley or DeKalb? I can't decide yet but someone here will emerge from the pack this fall.

One Southwest Prairie West Team: Minooka always has numbers and size. Oswego is always big, strong and physical. Plainfield North can run with any team in the state week in and week out. Go ahead pick one....I dare ya!

One West Suburban Silver Team: Lyons Township? Hinsdale Central? How about OPRF? Again someone out of this group is going to emerge.

Joliet Catholic welcomes back a roster loaded weith experience on bith sides of the football this summer. Joliet Catholic has four starters back on the offensive line and all four will play on Saturdays next season. JCA senior OL Jake Jakovich along with senior OL Michael Lynch and senior OL Cam Juricich all have D1 level; sixe and potential and will continue to draw increased recruiting attention this fall.

Looking or a sleeper name to watch this fall for Joliet Catholic? Joliet Catholic junior QB Lucas Similuck (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) is an impressive multi-sport athlete who saw considerable time under center in 2023 and is a name who could have a big breakout season for the Hillmen this fall.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers

Joliet Catholic and head coach Jake Jaworski is looking to build on it's Class 5A second place finish in 2023 and 10-4 record. JCA and head coach Jake Jaworski has posted an impressive 59-21 record in 7 seasons including leading the Hilltoppers to IHSA state football titles in 2021 (4A) and in 2018 (5a). Joliet Catholic has won 15 IHSA state football titles in school history and is tied with the most amount of IHSA state football titles with Chicago Mount Carmel (15) entering the 2024 season.

The biggest question facing JCA this summer?

Can the Hilltoppers survive an always rugged regulkar season schedule, find at least 5 wins and then get on a post-season roll? JCA welcomes back an impressive 15 returning starters (8 offense 7 defense) this summer and also has some key underclassmen names to watch this fall. Again the regular season schedule in the CCL/ESCC Green is rough and includes the likes of Oswego, Fenwick, Marist along with Nazareth Academy, Mount Carmel and Providence Catholic. It may sound cliche...but the Hillmen will need to play it's A game for 9 weeks this regular season.

Preseason Ranking? Chicagoland Preseason Top 30 and Class 4A Preseason Top 10 consideration

Let's Talk 7A: Teams Under Consideration for the EDGYTIM Preseason Top 10 poll

Steve Soucie 2024 Preseason Classification Guide for Class 7A

Teams Under Consideration for the Preseason Class 7A Top 10?

Hersey- The Huskies have some major dudes in senior QB Colton FGumino and senior TE/DE Logan Farrell (North Carolina) and if they can rebuild the OL and a few other spots this could be a dangerous team in 2024.

Batavia-Will be a bit younger in 2-024 especially on the offensive line but the talent level is never in short supply at Batavia. This seems to me to have a sneaky good Bulldog season feel to it.....keep an eye on junior OT Ryan Myers and junior LB Jacob Jansey and senior S Chase Osborne,

Bradley- Another team that always seems to out perform most "expert" opinions. Keep an eye on senior to be Gavin Kohl who is a talented multi-positional athlete. for the Boilers this fall.

Brother Rice A VERY young team in 2023 is back with a tom of starters with CCL/ESCC conference seat time. The Crusaders also have plenty of star power including senior 4 star ranked LB Christian Pierce and on the rise 2026 DT King Liggins.

Mount Carmel- The defending 7A state champs will be younger this season, but the overall depth and talent level has never been as strong in my opinion. Vanderbilt commit QB Jack Elliott leads the Caravan offensive attack along with senior TE/WR Danyil Taylor Jr. and the defense has some nbig time names with junior 3 star ranked DE Braden Jones plus on the rise 2026 DE Joey Quinn plus DB Havy Payne is a key this fall alojmg with sen ior LB Michael Mucha.

St. Rita- The Mustangs will graduate some key names, but the replacements saw significant action in 2023. The quarterback position seems to be a battle between senior Steven Armbruster along with senior Tom Perry both who saw playing time last season. St Rita senior RB Nick Herman had a nice 2023 season and is a capable and versatile weapon. The defense welcomes back 7 starters and will be led by senior LB James Kingsbury along with senior DE JP Danaher and LB Justin Buckner.

Downers Grove North The 2023 7A runner up Trojan will lean heavily on junior 3 star QB Owen Lansu who's having a big off season. Also the Trojans welcome back some key playmakersd led by senior WR/S Charlie Cruse, senior TE/DE Joe Edwards along with senior LB Jack Gregorio as a tone setter on defnse. .

Edwardsville- Edwardsville new head coach Kelsey Pickering has been a longtime assistant so the Tigers hit the ground running this winter. EVille welcomes back 16 returning starters (9 offense 6 defense) for 2024 and is led by senior 4 star ranked TE/DE Iose Epenesa who has Power 4 offers from everyone. The offense brings back 4 starting OL plus senior RB Patrick Chism and senior RB Steven Moore Jr. are very capable threats in the run game.

Hoffman Estates The Hawks will welcome back 13 returning starters (7 offense 6 defense) and Minnesota commit QB/LB Nate Cleveland is an impact player on both sides of the football and will have 4 starting OL back blocking for him this season.

Prospect The Knights and head coach Dan DeBoeuf welcome back 10 returning starters (6 offense 4 defenseZ) and senior QB Jack Skoog had a very solid 2023 season for the Knights. I as also impressed with senior RB Noah Easter last fall along with senior WR Nick Carlucci for the Knights.

Lincoln Way West The Warriors will reload this fall and West this summer has been impressive in 7on7. West has some higher level names in senior 3 star LB Josh Veldman (Northwstern) along with senior WR Austin Rowswell and this team moight has as much depth than I've seen for some time.

Lincoln Way Central - For my money..,.Central HC Dave Woodburn in his first season was the Will County area head coach of the year last season. The Knights welcome back 11 starters and for the most part need to find some kley playmakers lost to graduation, but the program sure looked to be in good shape last fall. Senior OL Chris Biel (6-foot-4, 275 pounds) is a name to along with and up and coming junior WR Lucas Anderson and junior WR Luke Tingley.

Normal Community- The Ironmen had a big 20923 season and welcome back some key names and leaders from that team this summer. Senior QB Kyle Petty has a big arm and talent and his main receiver Mar'quan Gary (Illinois State) is a b ig time threat. Also senior OL Bradyn Mazanowski anchors the NCHS offensive line this fall.

Quincy- The Blue Devils welcome back some key names a swell this fall led by senior QB Bradyn Little along with senior RB Jeraius Rice plus senior WR Ty Hammers. The biggest task for the Blue Devils this summer? Putting away the lopsided home playoff loss to eventual 7A state champion Mount Carmel and moving forward this fall.

Hononegah- The Indians year in and year out are pretty much the prohibitive favorites from the NIC-10 and will be again this preseason. Sure....I'll ask the annual question....just how good are the NIC-10 tams in the overall 7A field? Time will tell.

St Charles North- The North Stars always seem to have talent and 2024 looks much the same. Senior QB Etahn Plumb is a big time athlete and signal caller who has the capabilities of posting a huge 2024 season. Junior WR/S Keaton Reinke is an impact player and the overqall numbers and depth remain solid here.

Wheaton Warrenville South- The Tigers always have a nice core of talented players and will also remain in contention in the Dukane conference as well as jn 7A this season. Senior WR/DB Amari Williams (NIU) is a speedy game breaker to watch this fall.

Wheaton North- The Falcons and head coach Joe Wardynski is looking to reload a bit this summer with just 8 starters back (4 offense 4 defense) but this program much like it's rival always finds a way to reload and compete. WR Rich Schilling is a name to watch this fall for the Falcons.

Andrew- Andrew head coach Adam Lewandowski will lean heavily this fall on a TBolt offense that welcomes back 9 returning starters. The TBolts will rely on senior 3 star ranked OG Michel McDonough (Illinois) along with senior Jacob Palucky as Andrew will look to power past all comers in 2024.

Yorkville Shhhh. The Foxes seem to just keep getting better and bette3r and the 2024 version sure ready for bigger thing. Keep an eye this fall on Yorkville senior S Luke Zook along with senior DE Bryce Griffin (Kent State) plus senior WR Dyllan Malone (NIU). Also incoming transfer ATH Hunter Niklos is a high level athlete wioth the tools to contribute sooner rather than late for the Foxes.

2024 Team 7on7 or Team Summer Camp?

June: Marian Catholic 11/11

Impact Player for TF South

TF South this summer will lean on a more experienced roster on both sides of the football. The Red Wolves will look towards senior RB Christian Streeter (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) who was a lead back and impact player in the TF South offense last season. Also TF South junior LB Zion Boateng (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) is another talented athlete who will continue to draw increased recruiting attention this summer and fall for the Red Wolves.

Looking or a sleeper name to watch this fall for TF South? TF South junior DB/WR Marvin Gaines is an underclassmen name to watch this summer and fall for TF South who has a chance to cdevelop into an impact name for the Red Wolves starting this season.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 TF South Red Wolves

TF South and veteran head coach Bob Padjen is looking to bounce back from a 3-6 record in 2023 which was also the second straight season posting a 3-6 record. Bob Padjen has posted a 34-30 record in seven seasons at TF South as the head coach. Padjen was also the TF South longtime defensive coordinator under his older brother Hall of Fame TF South head coach Tom Padjen in his tenure then took over from his older brother as the head coach.

The biggest question facing TF South this summer?

Can the Rebels turn things around and get back to it's winning ways in 2024? The Red Wolves will rely heavily on a very good and a very experienced coaching staff along with a starting lineup that has much more varsity playing experience. TF South also got off to a bad early start (0-4) ijn 2023 thewn was able to play much better football in the second half of the season. The South Suburban Blue is always a very solid conference and and should be again this fall, yet I get the feeling that South will make a better run this fall and find it's way back in the SSB conference race along with securing a state playoff spot.

Preseason Ranking? Not yet.

My Take: West Aurora Team 7on7

The annual West Aurora Team 7on7 was last Friday and featured several teams from Chicagoland along with a good showing from several Rockford area schools. West Aurora and head coach Nate Eimer has for the last several summers made the West Aurora campous one of the places to come and get some good work in between this 7on7 and the Big Butts Linemen Challenge in mid July. These events are always really well run and organizxed and despite the on and off drizzle the fields held up quite well all day.

West Aurora uses its turf stadium as well as its large grass practice field next to the stadium and this seemed to be a perfect sized for the amount of teams in this event.

I will return in Mid July for the West Aurora Bug Butts Linemen Challenge...which is always a great event loaded with talent.

So Who Stood Out?

Hononegah The Indians remain one of the best and most consistent winners in the NIC-10 year in and year out. The Indians here just look different compared to the rest of the Rockford area teams at this event.....Hononegah has a good sized roster, the kids obviously know where the weight room is and this was just a very solid all around team. Over the past few seasons I've made it my mission to get to know the NIC-10 better with covering live games at Harlem and Boylan...but Hononegah remains one program I want to get a better handle on this fall.

Wheaton Warrenville South- I've seen the Tigers a handful of time already this summer and I like what I see. This was a Tigers team that featured quite a bit of underclassmen talent in 2023 and senior QB Luca Carbonara looks locked in this summer and his main target is senior WR Amari Williams (NIU) who is a speedy, twitchy athlete. The WWS defense is also quick and athletic and overall if the line play can do it's part this team will win games this season.

Providence Catholic The Celtics and head coach Tyler Plants also went "young" in 2023 and this is a Celtics team that looks more and more capable of big things this fall. The Providence offense is led by junior QB Leo Slepski and Slepski has continued to grow and develop his game at an impressive level. Also the sheer amount of underclassmen/high level talent on this roster is impressive. Keep an eye on up and coming 2027 ATH Jaylin McMiller along with 2027 TE/DE Curtis Stubbs while 2026 WR/RB Xavier Coleman has the look of a high level D1 talent. The defense is also stacked and senior S Gavin Hagan is highly under recruited so far and the defense is also loaded with depth and experience.

Huntley The Red Raiders looked very smooth and very polished in early July and that's a good thing. Start on offense with senior QB Brayon Bower who is a multi year starter for the Red Raiders. The remaining offensive skills are a bit inexperienced this summer but again looked pretty good here overall. The Red Raiders welcome back 8 starters on defense (5 starters in the back 7) and this has the look of as team that will compete pretty well in the FVC in 2024.

Jacobs The Golden Eagles are another very solid team year in and year out and the 2024 version also welcome back quite a bit of experience for the 2024 season. Jacobs offense will rely on a strong group of running backs who will run behind an experience offensive line. Senior TE/DE PJ Barnes is easily one of the top names to watch in the FVC this fall and Barnes is also a bit under recruited at this stage from what I saw here on Friday. The Jacobs passing game was solid and made some nice plays here and it looks more and more like junior QB Connor Goehring (6-foot-4, 200 pounds) us yet another big, strong and talented signal caller to watch this fall.

Stevenson The Patriots also looked pretty solid here and should be in line for a better season in 2024. I hadn't seen the Patriots pretty much anywhere for the past few seasons. The Brent Becker era got off to a slow start in his first few seasons but the Patriots have seemed to turn things around with back to back state playoff appearances. Junior QB Aidan Crawley will be a multi-year starter in 2024 and is a nice run/pass threat in the Patriots offense and has several quality target in the backfield and in the receiver corps. The defense also has some play makers including senior LB Luke Nelson and I casn see the Patriots making another state playoff appearance this fall.

Rockford East- The majority of Rockford area teams I saw here on Friday didn't exactly blow me away (not named Hononegah).....Rockford East no question looks to have some talented kids and some real athletes this summer. I'm still working on getting more information on the East kids I saw but I would not be surprised to see East make a move up the NIC-10 standings in 2024.

Glenwood- I will focus much more on the Titans later this month when I go down to cover the Glenwood 7on7, but what I was able to watch here was promising, The Titans and head coach David Hay played a ton of underclassmen in 2023 and those kids no question made some noise and look like a team ready to make even more noise in 2024. QB Colten Knoedler throws a good ball and has an abundance of top receivers and backs including senior WR Gavin Simmons, senior TE Jonathon Helm and several underclassmen names to watch. More coming in mid July on the Titans here I promise.

West Aurora The home team is out of nthe Southwest Prairie and now back into the Upstate 8 conference, and this Blackhawks team shows some real promise this summer. Keep an eye on 2026 QB Mason Atkins (6-foot-3, 200 pounds) who shows a very strong arm with good touch and already looks college ready physically. Atkins main target will be senior 3 star ranked WR Terrence Smith who is set to make a college decision between either Iowa or Minnesota. Smith, who is also a top Hoops prospect has impressive size and length, good speed and his ability to win on jump balls is highly impressive.

Impact Player for Deerfield

Deerfield is welcoming back a very experienced, senior driven starting lineup on both sides of the football for the 2024 season. Deerfield senior TE Jack Berger (6-foot-4, 230 pounds) is a big, strong and pretty physical tight end who also possesses wide receiver skills and tools. Berrger has picked up several Group of 5/FCS recruiting attention and options this summer and should continue to add more looks this coming fall.

Looking or a sleeper name to watch this fall for Deerfield? Deerfield has two impressive skill position players to watch this fall in senior WR Zach Friedman (5-foot-11, 185 pounds) along with senior RB Quinn Schimanski (6-foot-1, 195 pounds).

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Deerfield Warriors

Deerfield and veteran head coach Steve Winiecki is looking to rebound from a 4-5 season in 2023 as the Warriors just missed out on making the IHSA state playoff field which saw Deerfield lost its last four games of the regular season. Deerfield head coach Steve Winiecki has posted a 145-100 record as the Warriors head coach for the past 25 seasons. The Warriors will also need to contend and compete better against the opposing teams in the Central Suburban South conference which is always front loaded year in and year out with the likes of Maine South, New Trier, Evanston and Glenbard South.

The biggest question facing Deerfield this summer?

Can the Warriors take the next big step, compete with and defeat some of the bigger names in the Central Suburban South this fall? Deerfield on paper sure looks like a team ready to take a few more steps higher this summer with 15 returning starters back (9 offense 6 defense). The talent level is also high this fall and the Warriors would do themselves well getting off to another strong early season start this fall. Overall I like this team and this should be a return to the post-season for Deerfield in 2024.

Impact Player for Washington

Washington and first year head coach Todd Stevens will rely on a nice core of returning starters this fall. Washington senior TE/DE Carter Prina (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) was an impact player in 2023 for the Panthers and is also a team leader on and off the field. Prina has the overall look and physical tools to play at a higher level in college next fall.

Looking or a sleeper name to watch this fall for Washington? Washington junior WR Adrian Jones (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) has bounce back and forth between Washington, transferred to Bolingbrook last fall and is now back at Washington this season. Jones is a high level athlete and receiver who will draw much more serious recruiting attention and offers once his early season video hits the street. Jones, who also plays for Boom Midwest in the off season will be one of the best receiver names in the Class of 2026 in Illinois.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Washington Panthers

Washington will begin a new athletic era this fall as longtime AD Herb Knoblauch and Hall of Fame head football coach Darrell Crouch both retired after the 2023 season. The Panthers football program is left in good hands as longtime Washington DC Todd Stevens is now the head coach. The transition for Washington should be seamless and this Panthers team has a chance to make another state playoff run in 2024.

The biggest question facing Washington this summer?

Can the Panthers football program transition to a new head coach and keep up the winning tradition at Washington? I would be very surprised if the Panthers did not pick things up exactly where they left off last season and the new coaching transition will go well. Maybe the bigger questions is can the Panthers reload at a few key spots (LB/DB)?

Hinsdale Central junior 3 star ranked OL Gene Riordan is a talented and physically impressive name to watch in the Class of 2026. Riordan has already been adding several Power 4 offers and interest this summer.

Looking or a sleeper name to watch this fall for Hinsdale Central? Keep an eye on the both se nior OL Ryan McGarry along with senior Owen Stamer and senior Eisa Saleem who all have size, strength and play very physical football. All three senior linemen have the potential to play on Saturday's next fall.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Fremd Vikings

Hinsdale Central and head coach Brian Griffin is looking to improve on the Red Devils 3-6 record in 2023. Hinsdale Central head coach Brian Griffin has posted a 30-15 overall record in 5 seasons as the programs head coach and has led Central to the IHSA state playoffs in 2019 and 2021.

The biggest question facing Hinsdale Central this summer?

Can the Red Devils comes out of the gates quickly and withstand a loaded schedule especially in the first few weeks with taking on Naperville Central, Bolingbrook and Lyons Township all in the first three weeks of the regular season. The Red Devils offense looks good this summer and should be a key led by a big and very good offensive line. The defense will be a bit inexperienced but the talent is always there for Central.

Preseason Ranking? Preseason EDGYTIM Chicagoland Top 30 and Class 8A Preseason Top 10 poll consideration

My Take: Naperville North 7on7 and Linemen Challenge

The annual Naperville North Team 7on7 and Linemen Challenge Was last Thursday at North and featured several Top teams in Chicagoland. Naperville North and head coach Sean Drendel last year fired up these camps mainly because the overall lack of events...including the end of the always popular Wheaton South/Red Grange 7on7 which was an area staple under now retired WWS HC Ron Muhitch. Naperville North hosts a Tuesday night 7on7 league in June and this event was the finale.

Lots of teams covering lot of ground around the South/back portion of the athletic fields at NN on Thursday. I spent quite a bit of time watching some top team matchups in pool play. Maine South won the 7on7 portion and also the Linemen Challenge portion of this event. My overall impressions and thoughts on what I witnessed is below.

Overall? This was a big success and the organizers are already talking about expansion for 2025.

Naperville North - Again I've seen the Huskies in one fashion or another for several weeks now....so I didn't exactly spend a ton of time with them on Thursday. As I've mentioned before the Huskies will be strong offensively led by senior QB Jacob Bell (Ball State) a core of really impressive receivers led by senior Brock Pettaway, Ian McConnachie plus Nick Manzardo and a big and physical offensive line play. The defensive line has size and talent anchored by junior DT Gabriel Hill who is already a Power 4 recruit ffor the Huskies in the 2026 class.

Glenbard North The Panthers looked pretty solid here.....and this ia a program that when they can throw the football a bit they are usually pretty solid. Glenbard North looked to have a few very capable signal callers here, possesses a deep group of backs and receivers and just overall this was a team that started slow (0-3 in pool play) but was very competitive in every game against strong competition.

Maine South The Hawks won the 7on7 tournament and the Linemen Challenge and was also very impressive all day here. I watched the entire opening game against St Rita in 7on7 and the Hawks sophomore QB Jameson Purcell took a series or two to get up and rolling and was impressive the rest of the day. The Hawks always have a ton of skills and quality backs and receivers and that showed well here. The linemen are enormous upfront and average 6-foot-4, 270 pounds and besides size and weight this is also a very strong group that can also move. Senior OL Zak Stoilov, Eddie Daze along with Petar Strbac and senior DL Tyler Fortis all looked great here.

St Rita The Mustangs I was also able to see some good things here from the Mustangs. St Rita used a few different quarterbacks here including junior Steven Armbruster and senior Tom Perry and both showed well here. Junior WR Walter Jones was maybe the most impressive receiver I saw all day who made a ton of catches against a very good Maine South secondary. The Mustangs defense was also pretty solid hgere and the linebacker play will be a strength again this fall with the likes of senior James Kingsbury back along with senior Justin Buckner. I either didn't see or just missed the Mustangs linemen....again lots of kids spread over lots of area equals someone is not getting seen.

Lincoln Way East (2 teams)- The Top team offense was very strong here led by Bolingbrook to LWE transfer junior 4 star ranked QB Jonas Williams who was just highly impressive again. Williams plays smooth. cool and just doesn't panic in the pocket and remains both very accurate along with having the arm strength to fit the football into nearly impossible windows. The remaining skills are a plus led by senior TE Trey Zvonar (Miami Ohio) and senior RB Zion Gist (WMU) while the remaining receivers showed good hands and made some impressive catches. The East defense looks like the East defense from 20 years go in some ways. The linebackers are a bit undersized as always but just play like a major D1 defenders while the secondary is also capable and made some big stops at times. One of the best games I watch all day here was East beating St Francis in pool play on a last play stop at the goal line.

Hinsdale Central This was the second time this summer I've watched the Red Devils and again saw some good things and not much bad. Again per the Central staff they had some variousm kids missing due to other sport obligations....(very commonplace in June) so I did not watch as much as I wanted and hope to get caught up with them in July at the DGS 7on7. The offense is led by junior QB Riley Contreras who had a solid 2023 season and looks for a bigger year this fall. The line play also has good sixe and junior OT Gene Riordan is already blowing up this summer and had added several Power 4 offers so far this summer. Had a chance tpo talk to Gene a bit and he's a big, strong kid with a ton of upside.

Plainfield East - The Bengals gave everyone a test here including Lincoln Way East and had a lead on the Griffins for some time before losing a close game in pool play. Plainfield East senior starting QB Brandon Parades was not in attendance but the kids filling in at QB did a terrific job. East is a young team with a ton of spee and athletes on both sides of the football, they have a big time go to guy in senior WR Quinn Morris and I'm hoping for better days ahead for the Bengals and head coach Harvey Jackson.

Wheaton St Francis - Stacked. The Spartans are loaded again and have the making of making a state title run...but again this is still 7on7 and no trophys are handed out here so time will tell. Junior QB Brady Palmer is emerging as a top name to watch in a loaded 2026 QB class while the remainign receivers ands backs are impressive including senior WR Ian Willis (Illinois State) junior WR Zachary Washington along with junior WR Dario Milivojevic and junior TE Gavin Mueller who we featured here in Mid May as a name to watch. The defense also has talent and play makers and again this team will give several opponents fits this coming fall.

Neuqua Valley Still not getting a really good handle so far on the Wildcats. Liked what I've seen so far both times this summer. Solid efficient offense passing game good skills......defense also pretty much the same. I guess my hangup right now is who are the main guys? Impact players? NV always has a handful of key impact skill kids and no question senior OL Ryan Mascari is a leader but anyone else?

Metea Valley I've seen Metea Valley more this summer than any I can remember, It's also been great seeing legend Hall of Fame HC Paul Parpet working with MV along with his son/MV HC John Parpet. The Mustangs have some speed and some skills and here's hoping the move to the new combined DVC/SWS is a positive one for Metea Valley in 2024.

Minooka Minooka and head coach Matt Harding continues to look like they have quite a few posoitives in place for a potential run. The program has always had great overall numbers on all levels, a solid talent base and tremendous community support and new and much improved facilities. The Indians also look to have a potential future signal caller in the makings in junior lefty QB Zane Caves, a three sport athlete at 6-foot-5, 188 pounds. The Indians again have plenty of quality backs and receivers, a big offendsive line that will be a bit inexperienced to start the season but is also a group with big upside. The defense will also be solid and keep an eye on junior LB Brady Kozlowski alon g with junior S Nathan Gonzales.

Glenbard West I've seen the Hitters a few times this sumemr and again my main takeaway ois that the West offense will be capable of run and pass this fall and this offense might have as much explosiveness as any we've seen in a bit. Glenbard West senior WR/DB Mason Ellens (Iowa State) is one of a handful of big time impact names along with senior OT Michael OConnell (Northwestern) this season.

Naperville Central Very quietly the Redhawks are putting together a pretty solid team for 2024 and more and more names seem to be emerging this summer. Senior QB Sebi Hayes (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) is a big strong kid who throws an impressive ball. The Redhawks have some key playmakers led by incoming trnsfer senior WR DeShaun Williams along with senior WR Aiden Clark and the defense welcomes back 7 returning starters led by senior DE Jake Stanish (Miami of Ohio) along with the Nussmaum twins at linebacker and this is a team to watch as a nice sleeper type in 8A.

Let's Talk 5A: Teams Under Consideration for the Preseason Top 10

Still a work in progress. I will remove this when thisn story is edited and completed. Thanks

Let's Talk 5A: Teams Under Consideration for the Preseason Top 10

Morgan Park
The Mustangs have been the best team in the CPL for a handful of seasons and I don't see that changing for now (sorry Simeon/Kenwood etc). The Mustangs welcome back 16 returning starters (7 offense 9 defense) including some key multi-year impact names such as senior QB Marcus Thaxton, senior OLB/S Jovan Clark (Wyoming) along with senior WR/S Jahmare Washington (Wisconsin) and senior DB Ahmad Grayer.

Hillcrest The Hawks will also reload this sumemr and brings back several impact names. Hillcrest welcomes back 14 returning starters (9 offense 5 defense) including senior QB Gary Bradley, senior RB/DB Erimus Wright (South Dakota State) plus 4 starters back on the offensive line. The Hawks lost junior DE MaHale Blade to a transfer (Simeon) but keep an eye on junior DE Max Carmicle (6-foot-6, 215 pounds) a standout in Hoops and Football.

Prairie Ridge The Wolves welcome in longtime assistant coach Mike Frericks as it's new head coach taking over for Chris Schremp (new PR Athletic Director). The Wolves welcome back several key names from a season ago in junior QB Joe Vanderweil, senior FB Jack Finn and junior RB Luke Vanderweil along with senior OL/DL Gavin Tinch. The Wolves also welcome back 4 starting offensive linemen this fall and the FVC title chase will be as entertaining as ever in 2024.

Decatur MacArthur_ The Generals and veteran head coach Derek Spates always has talent and speed in the building and this was a relatively young team in 2023. The loss of standout sophomore RB Myson Johnson Cook to Texas was a big loss....but this team always seems to find a way to get it done.

Joliet Catholic Academy The Hilltoppers also welcome back a ton of experience in 2024 and while some of the graduation losses will be felt (Dillon Johnson) this Hillmen team will be just fine. Back for 2024 is junior QB Lucas Simulick along with a handful of experienced backs led by senior Keenan Farnus who will run behind an offensive line with 4 returning starters back in the fold. The Hillmen also bring back 6 returning starters on defense and while the Hill has some spots to fill...they will be just fine in 2024 IF they can survive a rugged 2024 schedule.

Nazareth Academy The amazing Naz Class of 2025 is finally playing it's last season this fall. Nazareth Academy QB Logan Malachuk leads the always explosive Road Runners attack and features an amazing 19 returning starters back...many of whom have multiple years of varsity experience. The defense is led by senior OLB/DE Gabe Kaminski (Stanford) and this team and school have been pointing towards this final season run for this senior goup since it's freshman season.

Carmel Catholic The Corsairs made a solid run in 5A last season and despite graduation losses this program will be jsut fine in 2024. Sophomore QB Trae Taylor is holding a ton of Power 4 offers and also keep an eye on senior OT Tommy Lamberti plus senior RB Donovan Dey, senior TE Jack Greiber and a roister stacked with underclassmen talent for 2024.

Metamora The Redbirds will be good again this season as they welcome back 12 returning starters (5 offense 7 defense) including a nice 1-2 backfield punch in RB Evan Kiel and RB Jaiduan Cranford. Metamora senior LB Cameron Nickel leads a very quick and hard hitting defense this season.

Highland The Bulldogs also bring back a ton of experience for the 2024 season including 15 returning starters (8 offense 7 defense) who saw a ton of playing time already at the varsity level. The Highland offensive backfield is a strength this summer and keep an eye on senior FB/LB Ethan Greenwald and senior DE Nick Judge this season.

Peoria With the departure of head coach Tim Thornton to Florida....the Lions become one of the most interesting stories this summer. Can Peoria new head coach Aaron Montgomery keep the Lions at the very top of the Big 12 again this fall? The Lions graduated several key names especially in the offensive skills but keep an eye on junior QB Breon Green who did well as a backup in 2023 along with sophomore OL/DL Jaquaris Green.

Sacred Heart Griffin The Cyclones and then first year head coach had an up and down season posting a 6-3 regular season record which including a lopsided Week 1 loss to Normal Community. Loom for the Cyclones to be much improved this coming season and for a very young SHG roster in 2023 to begin to turn things around this coming fall.

Rochelle The Hubs and head cvoach Kyle Kissack brings back an amaxing 20 returning starters from a season ago and the Hubs are looking to improve upon it's 7-2 2023 season which ended in a Round 1 loss to Wheaton St Francis. Keep an eye on senior RB/LB Grant Gensler and senior L/DL Kaiden Morris for the Hubs this season.

Sterling The Golden Warriors and head coach Jonathan Schlemmer welcomes back 12 returning starters (6 offense 6 defense) this season as Sterling looks toi make another for the WB6 conference title. Keep an eye on sophomore OT AJ Coleman (6-foot-6, 270 pounds) who saw significant playing time as a frshman on varsity along with senior RB Gage Tate.

Sycamore One of these days the moons will align and the Spartans are going to win an IHSA 5A state title sooner rather than later. The 2024 Spartans have some talent and depth back and this group could very well make a run this fall. Sycamore senior LB Burke Gautcher (Iowa) is set to play quarterback again this season and has plenty of talent behind him in senior WR/DB Carter York along with a deep group of remaining backs and receivers. The Sycamore defense welcomes back 8 returning starters and head coach Joe Ryan and staff will have this tam ready to roll this fall.

Triad- The Knights and head coach Calvin Potthast also brings back strong core of returning starters this season. The Triad offense is led by senior QB Isaac Akerman along with senior RB/WR/DB Ian Dempsey who is a speedy game breaker type. On the defensive side of the football Triad features 8 starters back led by senior DE Owen Lightner (6-foot-1, 215 pounds) who will bring a ton pofm speed off the edge this fall.

Wheaton St Francis- As stacked if not more stacked as any team listed here. St Francis and head coach Bob McMillen will lean on junior QB Brady Palmer who is already drawing Power 4 recruiting attention along with a very impressive group of receivers including senior WR Ian Willis (Illinois State) along with junior WR Zachary Washington (another Power 4 name) and junior WR Dario Milivojevic while senior RB Ty Ransom is an impact player while un known junior TE Gavin Mueller also has multipole Power 4 offers. The defense also has talent and plenty of speed and senior DB Seth Valeri is a newcomer/name to watch for the Spartans defense in 2024.

2024 Team 7on7 or Team Summer Camp?

TEAM CAMP AT OLIVET NAZARENE JULY 22-24

Impact Player for Nazareth Academy

The Road Runners again have a very rare lineup with a heavy talented team on both sides of the football which also includes names who have been multi-year starters. On the offensive side of the football senior QB Logan Malachuk has simpoly been one of the most productive signal callers in the State of Illinois over the past several seasons. Malachuk has a terrific arm, touch and scrambling ability and is a threat every time he has the football in his hands.

Defensively. senior OLB/DE Gabe Kaminski is simply one of the best overall defenders in the State of Illinois again in 2024. Kaminski, who just committed to Stanford is a major impact defender who is a tackling machine whoi can and will drop back into coverage when required also is a relentless pass rusher.

Looking for a potential sleeper names for Nazareth Academy this coming fall? Tbe starting wide receiving corps of senior Jimmy Penley, junior Trenton Walker and junior Jake Crestone all have big play ability and all three can and will also see time on defense when needed.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Nazareth Academy Road Runners

Nazareth Academy and veteran head coach Tim Racki has simply been one of the biggest and most successful stories in IHSA Football. The 2023 Road Runners barely made the IHSA State Football playoff field with a losing record (4-5) then won 5 straight games to win the Class 5A state championship. Look for the Road Runners to again be a favoeite to win a state title in 2024, but the path to just getting into the post-season is as stacked as ever.

The biggest question for Nazareth Academy in 2024? Can the Road Runners again find it's way into a winning record (or close to a winning record) and make a deep post-season run? The 2024 schedule has at minimum 7 state playoff caliber teams including a great Week 1 opener hosting Kankakee and the schedule just does not slow down.

Impact Player for Fremd

Fremd junior QB Johnny O'Brien (Northwestern) recently gave the Northwestern Wildcats his verbal commitment after landing an offer from the Wildcats a few weeks earliuer this summer. O'Brien is one of several high level quarterback prpspects in the Class of 2026. O'Brien has an impressive arm and throws an impressive football. O'Brien also has room to grow and add much more good weight and size over the next two seasons. Look for Johnny O'Brien to have a possible breakout season in 2024 for the Vikings.

Looking or a sleeper name to watch this fall for Fremd? Keep an eye on Fremd senior WR/DB Brennan Saxe (6-foot-3, 180 pounds) who is a talented all around athlete who basically ever leaves the field for the Vikings.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Fremd Vikings

Fremd and veteran head coach Lou Sponsel is seeking to improve upon a 3-6 record in 2023. The Vikings have been undergoing a youth movement over the past two seasons and many in and around the Vikings program are excited for this coming season. Fremd head coach Lou Sponsel has posted a 52-62 record in 12 seasons and Fremd has made 7 post-season appearances under Lou Sponsel.

The biggest question facing Fremd this summer?

Can the kids play this fall and take the program back to the post-season in 2024? Fremd welcomes back 16 returning starters (10 offense 6 defense) including a Power 4 level quarterback who already has a season plus of varsity experience under his belt. The Vikings no qiestion will be a school to watch this fall especially early in the regular season.

Impact Player for Hoffman Estates

Hoffman Estates senior three star ranked ATH Nate Cleveland (Minnesota) is simply one of the top overall playeras this coming season the the Westen suburbs as well as a top player in the state. Cleveland, who basically will never leave the field again in 2024 for the Hawks will agin play QB/S/OLB for the Hawks this fall.

Looking or a sleeper name to watch this fall for Hoffman Estates? Keep an eye on Hoffman Estates senior WR/DB Liam Patrick (6-foot-2, 200 pounds) who is a good sized athlete who is physically college ready in some ways this summer.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Hoffman Estates Hawks

Hoffman Estates and head coach Tim Heyse is coming off a 6-4 record in 2023 as the Hawks made the 6A state playoff field and lost to Lincoln Way West in opening round action. The Hawks have posted a 45-25 record under Tim Heyse over the past 7 seasons and made the IHSA state playoffs in 5 of the last 6 playoff seasons.

The biggest question facing Hoffman Estates this summer?

Can the Hawks stay healthy this fall and also develop sdome needed overall depth and numbers to allow them to make a deeper post-season run? Hoffman Estates always has talent and skills and should be able to reload in a few key spots (RB/WR/DL). If the Hawks can catch a few breaks this season, they can become a really nice sleeper type pick in 6A.
