A bit of a hot take but do we really know how good CG is this year? I know they have a ton of playoff experience and know how to win the big games but they haven’t faced any elite teams this year and pulled out a couple of close wins against good but not great teams. Playoff path has been very easy. Add that to the fact their best player is out for the year and I think this smells like a potential upset is brewing…
CG is not good. Geneva can take off the week preparing. In fact, Geneva should start their second string. :p

I mean what elite teams did they play last year also? Besides ESL? Coaches have those kids prepared. They beat ESL twice which is an elite program. Those kids believe in the coaches

Was thinking this today as well. However, their regular season results were even less impressive last year.

Geneva will be the best team they played all year to this point.

Think this will be a dynamite game.

In the case of both of these schools, the jump in enrollment is recent. The freshman and sophomore classes are where the growth have occurred. These classes have little to no impact on varsity football teams.
Actually, DCP's sophmore class will fill about half of the varsity roster next season, as juniors. That class is projected to carry more talent than former soph classes to the varsity team. The freshmen crop this season carried about 60 athletes and proved ahead in development. This playoff team already rostered 6 freshmen who have seen varsity playoff action.

Great question. I think most of us want CG. But we have to get there first.
For the rematch? If so I get that. I’m not saying CG is better than Geneva, I’m just figuring Geneva has a more predictable offense for ESL to stop. I don’t like making predictions for the team I support and let it play out.
