SHG VS JCA ON RADIO

ALL.... SHG years ago used to have student media and do games then NFHS came along. I don't believe they have done an NFHS feed for a long time. Hoping it's decent for those not attending and decide to try NFHS. As everyone knows much depends upon the infrastructure and set up at the school on how well goes.

The projections which I thought were conservative and a bit low for the Hilltoppers. Massey - JCA 41 SHG 12 (93%) Calpreps JCA 40 SHG 6 (98%)

What round 2 games got you excited this weekend?

I agree with LWW vs Batavia. Living in the South Suburbs, people are saying that LWW has like 3 division 1 players and a team that no one is talking about. I do not know much about LWW, so if anyone can share something on them, I would greatly appreciate. I mean if they have 3 division 1 kids, then they have to be pretty good, so the LWW vs Batavia game is a must see in my opinion.

CPL Pick 'em CPL PLAYOFF EDITION #1

It's the CPL Playoffs! Yes, I know there are a number of CPL teams still alive in the IHSAA playoffs, but if you want to know about them, head on over to the countless other threads where the discussion centers around how awful the CPL is, and how unfair it is that they even get spots in the state playoffs at all. Meanwhile, we are over here in the thick of playing for the CPL title! On to the picks!

Kenwood vs Simeon
Obviously, the main story here is the Kenwood coach jumped ship and is now the head coach at Simeon. As it happens in the CPL, when a great coach leaves, good programs have a tendency to get average - or worse - pretty quickly. Kenwood hasn't been the Kenwood of the past few years, but they still have some players from those teams that will bring a bit of a chip to the party. At 11 am on Saturday, the only party I want to be a part of is the dudes in the north end zone at Gately getting those coolers out and those smokers fired up!
Rib Tips!

Payton vs Lincoln Park
When these teams take the field at Gately Saturday afternoon, the party should really be kicking in the north end zone! Gately dogs on the south end, rib tips on the north. That is a true CPL taste bonanza! Speaking of taste bonanzas, a few buddies and I found ourselves at Declan's a couple blocks north of Payton earlier this year. They have these Cincinnati hot dogs, served with a bunch of shredded cheese and onions. Of course, we sampled some. Then sampled some more. On the way to one of their apartments, we were walking down Wells past Payton when the stomach of one of my buddies decided the 3rd Cincy hot dog wasn't going to have a long stay in his body. My buddy valiantly attempted to puke in one of the trash cans by the Payton main entrance, but bumped his head as he was trying to get is face close to the can. He fell on the ground, and puked all over himself and the entrance. Quite a sight. I'd post a pic here if it wouldn't incriminate him....
Glizzys!

Amundsen vs Taft
This one is the disappointments of all disappointments. It's not a Winnemac Park, so no Lululemon wearing pumpkin spice sippers. It's not at Taft, so no early nights at the HarHig with loose pocketed ex-Taft coaches buying rounds... Nope, this one is at Lane on Friday...at 6! Come on man! At least it gets me to Pete's Place across from Horner Park sooner... Gotta get on those dart boards early!
Bullseye!!

Very thorough analysis of Libertyville/Lake Forest first game, thanks. Libertyville will have the home court advantage, and added incentive (huge) for this playoff game. Cats will also have RB Strelow returning after lingering injury. That is significant; should open-up the field and require Scout defensive adjustments.

Do not short-change the Lake Forest Scouts. They are talented, smart, and battle tested. The Scouts will not travel to Libertyville just to show the flag, they have been in the fire before, and will play to win.

On paper Libertyville Wildcats win. Schambow, Lavista, et al will put big numbers on board, tough to stop the second time-around.
I like the attention this game is attracting! This should be a hard fought game and it's tough to beat a team twice in one season. That being said, LF always plays Libertyville tough. Coaching will play a big part in this game(always does) so I'd lean to LF pulling this one out. I hope I'm wrong, long time LHS parent. See you there.

West Aurora @ MS

West Aurora is relevant in the playoffs, wow. Major accomplishment, one I hope the community really appreciates. 94' alum here and really happy for the players and coaches, especially those former players I once played along side (Melchiori/Howell) or for (Fowler/Runge). I bet those halls will be banging Friday with that drumline and the band roaming the hallways. Never got to live that dream in HS, so I hope they really appreciate the privilege.

Nothing but respect for a formidable opponent and one thats been in the postseason for many years.

Let the best team win and penalties play no major significance in the outcome!
Great post. Very happy for you and the school and community. It is a special time. I remember in 2005 LWE won their first State Championship. My son played on that team. The playoffs that year were unbelievable. The community was really great. My son told me that him and a few of his teammates went to McDonalds for breakfast and the owner paid for everything. It made them feel special. I hope your community does the same. Special time.
Good luck 35blackhawk!

Lake forest was at home last time but yeah still a very impressive win. Some keys to the game (I watched the first game)

1. Can lville get the running game going? According to maxpreps, 15 carries for 14 yards in the first game. Starting RB was out and is now back so will see what kind of difference that makes.

2. Who gets the early momentum and can they maintain it? Lville went up 21-7 in the first quarter and then LF picked themselves off the canvas ala Tyson Fury during his 1st deontay wilder fight

2. Can Lake Forest get pressure on Schambow like they did in the first game? Believe they had 5 sacks including a huge strip sack in the second half. I believe Schambow had been sacked less than 5 times all season prior to that game.

3. Which team is more disciplined? Lville shot themselves repeatedly with offensive penalties in the first game that stalled out a lot of their drives.

4. Who will make the better adjustments on defense? Both teams went up and down the field in the first game

Should be a fantastic game, wish we could get some announcers on NFHS…

Thanks for that correction on location. Great synopsis of the game as I watched after my son's game that night. Libertyville needs to clean their camera lens on NFHS feed as it was cloudy telecast for the playoff game last week. I think the key for any team playing Libertyville is can they get pressure on Schambow. Lake Forest is the only team that really made an extra effort to do it and it paid off with a couple of unforced errors. Cary Grove did a great job against Lib in playoffs last year utilizing 3 down linemen and 6 backers essentially taking away the short passing lanes Lib likes throwing to. Was not impressed with Lake Forest when we played them but maybe they didn't put the foot down on the gas in a meaningless game for them a few weeks ago. Van Camp is a big sturdy QB and WR's Markee and Hartline can make plays but run game seemed non existent. I expect Lib to patch up some holes from last meeting and win by a couple TD's. I will see ya there weather looks like it will be nice for early November.

MMXXIV Edition - CCL-ESCC Predictions Week XI

I foresee Catholic eyes will be a-smiling this weekend (other than those Catholics that have the unfortunate task of facing...other Catholics).

SCN +21 vs MC. Stars beat Geneva by 14. Geneva beat Batavia by 23. Batavia is on the level of MC. And yes, I am completely ignoring the fact that SCN itself lost to Batavia by 24. Logic need not apply here. Caravan 35-23.

LA -6 vs Marist. This is going to be a classic. Loyola's defense seems to be on a different level right now and I think that makes the difference here. Ramblers 17-10.

Rita -21 vs Willowbrook. The Warriors have had a nice season. They haven't faced anything on the level of St. Rita. I don't think this one will be particular close. Mustangs 45-7.

Woodstock North +59 vs Naz. Woodstock North has an overly unimpressive schedule. Naz has another 'bye' week. Roadrunners 56-6.

Prairie Ridge +23 vs SF. I think this one is tight until the 4th. WSF 35-21.

SHG +34 vs JCA. Our CCL step-brother Cyclones. They had a very nice win last week vs Mahomet Seymour. Unfortunately, they are running into a juggernaut. Hilltoppers 42-14.

DePaul -23 vs Geneseo. Wish this game was at Geneseo. Cool gameday atmosphere. This one won't be close. Rams 49-14.

Benet +14 vs Rochelle. Very interested in this one. Benet has had some absolute stinkers this year but also some very nice wins (Moline, DePaul). Rochelle is solid but hasn't faced the toughest schedule. I wouldn't be shocked to see Benet pull off the upset here so will go for it. Redwings 35-34.

StL -2 vs WA. All depends on the health of the Vikes! I'll trust they are healthy and give them the win here. 24-17 Vikings.

Montini -1 vs Byron. GOTW. State Championship in round 2? Absolutely cannot wait for this one. I've trusted the Broncos' defense all year and won't stray from that now. Montini 21-20.

Fenwick +18 vs DGN. Friars coming off a huge win last week. Surprised to see this spread so big given what Fenwick showed. I think they can keep this one within two TDs. DGN 35-21.

Marian +25 vs CoM. Will come down to "motivation". Spartans will use the long bus ride to get motivate, or something. But won't be quite enough. Corsairs 30-21.
