Potentially least competitive quarterfinal games

mc140 - I hope you are correct but respectfully disagree with Montini vs. Princeton. Princeton is looking for revenge after last year's quarterfinal loss to Montini. Princeton lead 3-0 at halftime before Montini capitalized on 2 turnovers to win 27-9.

Princeton is a tough program, look for it to be a close game. My prediction, Montini pulls away in 4th quarter to win 28-14.

Clock by half. They struggled with King.

Higher seeds should get the home game.

I think the issue is people are assuming their subjective assessments of teams is objective and correct.
It sounds like your experience with seeding is limited to ihsa playoffs if that is your response. The discussion of poor draws and unfair seeding happens every year in the ncaat. Illinois vs Loyola a few years ago. Wichita st vs UK a few years before that. Saying that marist deserved a better draw simply means, as a top 4 team in 8a, they should have faced the #1 team in the semi's, not 2nd rd.

you keep bringing up the outcome of the games which is irrelevant to the discussion of accurately seeding teams. Seeding is based on your resume up to the point of seeding, not predicting who will win a given matchup.
How did you decide Marist was top 4? It also sounds like you're assuming Loyola was top 4, how did you determine that?

Every year the NCAA gets seeding wrong and that's the type of system you want to go to? Also, using the tourney as a comparison to high school football is comparing apples to potatoes.

If they were seeded how you want how do you know Marist even makes the semis? You're making the assumption that the higher seed wins every game.

Who do you have ranking these teams in your system?

Higher seeds should get the home game.

So you want subjective seeding done by computers but not 1-32?

Marist had a season deserving of a better draw? What does that even mean? So should they have been given a bye?

Isn't being the champion the end goal? I don't care who makes the quarters or semi's, it's about the 2 best teama playing on Thanksgiving weekend. If they're one of the best 4 teams they'll make the semi's. If they get a less than favorable draw and lose then they obviously weren't one of the 4 best teams in that class

Hey A4fan
Not trying to pick a fight just want to know your opinion. What if the best 4 teams are in the same current bracket. Example in 8A. LWE, LA and MS? Does seeding 1-32 fix this? Just asking because I don’t know.

Higher seeds should get the home game.

Even the 1-32 not happening in the smaller classes is fine with me. Montini went a few miles to Rockne Stadium. Better than going down to Roxana or Litchfield.

In 3A, it’s not like Montini would be the 2-seed, and 1-32 would save the Byron matchup for the championship…. They were the 14-seed in the class. A playoff point added or subtracted either way could easily scoot them up to 13 or down to 16 and put them and Byron on the same side again. 7-2 this year was a 9 seed. 6-3 last year was a 6-seed. Every year unfolds a little different. It is what it is.

Higher seeds should get the home game.

Okay, this sounds a little crazy even to me, BUT I'm just thinking out loud, and YES I realize this sounds kind of Nuts.

What if: you had a Seeding multiplier for certain successful conferences?

Example: what if the CCL teams had a 3 - 3 1/2 game multiplier on their record for seeding.
- Any CCL team 6-3, 7-2, 8-1 would be seeded as a 9-0
and
- Any CCL team 4-5, 5-4 would be seeded an 8-1 or maybe 7-2.

You could also do some Tweaking on their multiplied seeding, so they wouldn't just necessarily get home field to start the playoffs.

Have mercy on me with your replies. I'm NOT suggesting this, just thinking out loud.

DePaul 38 Geneseo 13 Final

This is great. Forgot who made that post about dark horses but DePaul could make a deep run.
They have a really nice team. Some really nice skill kids and physical players. Next week will be interesting. The issue I see is discipline. If they clean up the language they have the ability to make a run. Coach has to get this under control. Penalties will get them eventually. My opinion only.

Class 3A Quarterfinal: Wilmington @ Du-Pec

CO-OP between Durand HS and Pecatonica HS.
Looking at Google maps, there doesn’t appear to be a football field in Durand, so I assume the game will be in Pecatonica.

The map shows a couple sets of bleachers on the same side of the field with nothing on the other side. I hope that for the sake of the older grandparent types that visitors are allowed to sit in a section of bleachers.

Anyone with any info regarding Du-Pec home games?
Any place decent nearby to grab lunch and maybe a beer before the game?
I highly suggest you follow my friends at @NUICFootball on X

DGN 13 Fenwick 10 final

I had to watch that clip 40-50 times before the whole thing kinda made sense.

In the clip we can only see #22 doing the gun thing and Ref probably could not see it, and was very fast on the flag.

The only way it made sense was if #2 was also doing the gun thing (away from our camera view), which gives the Ref a perfect view.

Does that sound right? That's the best my old eyes can come up with.
Ref is looking directly at #2 when the flag was thrown. I think you are correct, 22 got caught on camera….
