There are many great looking quarterfinal matchups spread throughout all 8 classes. The vast majority are set up be very competitive contests.

On the other hand, there are still a handful of games that look to be potential running clocks.

List the games you think will NOT be particular competitive. I’ll start…

East St Louis @ Chatham Glenwood

mc140 - I hope you are correct but respectfully disagree with Montini vs. Princeton. Princeton is looking for revenge after last year's quarterfinal loss to Montini. Princeton lead 3-0 at halftime before Montini capitalized on 2 turnovers to win 27-9.

Princeton is a tough program, look for it to be a close game. My prediction, Montini pulls away in 4th quarter to win 28-14.

Clock by half. They struggled with King.

CG vs Belvidere North

Belvidere North runs a similar option offense which should better prepare them for Cary-Grove than most. But, not having to prepare for that throughout their regular season, like CG has to prepare for PR, may prove key for this matchup.

If you are looking for the least competitive semifinal games, one will be winner of Batavia/Downers Grove North vs. Bradley-Bourbonnais/Lincoln Way Central winner

They didn't seem physical enough

You definitely know more than me about Stevenson. Do tell. I have not seen them play this year. What do they do well? What are their weaknesses. 9-1 is nothing to sneeze at. They must be doing something right.
That’s a tough one to argue with.

I can answer that for you @corey90. All my kids played in the North Suburban conference over the last 7 years including this year so have seen everything Stevenson has to offer. Stevenson is kind of an enigma, Don't really run or throw the ball exceptionally well but are good enough with both options. The key is really the quarterback Crawley who loves to run and he loves to run the quarterback draw and is very elusive. Usually, when throwing the coach's son Becker who's their big tight end is one of his favorite targets. Running back Fatman Thorndyke is a good runner but has been battling some injury things this year. On defense the linebackers are solid and Spice Adams son #5 can be a disrupting force on the defensive line. However they haven't seen anything like Jonas Williams and that Lincoln Way offense so I expect this thing to be a running clock by late in the third quarter.

Agree and I am a North Suburban conference guy. this game will be over by halftime
Hats off to the Patriots on a bounce back season. High school foootball is better when Stevenson is good. LWE is just in a different class this season. Not many teams in the state are not going to get blown out by them. Stevenson was probably a top 16 team in 8A but overachieved based on the draw. Glenbard East loses to most of the 8A field but got a CPS team in the first round. Marist had semifinal qualities but got LA in round 2. That’s the luck of the draw with the IHSA playoffs and the Patriots luck has run out

Thanks Big Daddy. Your detailed analysis makes me think they are in a weak conference and they happen to have enough talent to win. I was thinking of going this Friday but it sounds like the game might not be very close.

Yeah Stevenson might get rolled but by no means is the NSC a weak conference. If Warren is tied for 4th-place, I'd say it's a pretty deep league.

I’d say their conference this year was better than the one East played in. Three teams in the quarters, another that went 8-2 with two losses to quarterfinal teams.

Of late this conference has been down. This was not a down year.

Definitely not a weak conference this year. three of the four qualifiers are still alive and the conference champ got knocked out by one of them last week but needless to say Stevenson is going to have their hands full

A little confused at this comment. Both teams played and destroyed Benet.
I would say that Rochelle ran the ball well against Benet and Benet did themselves no favors in the turnover department. I think The Naz pass game shreds the Hubs TBH! My only hesitation is playing on grass else I’d say Naz -24. With Grass in mind I’ll say Naz -13.
