4 Friday and 1 Saturday game this week. No real compelling matchups as the bottom 4 teams all play teams from the top 6. The best the bottom 4 can hope for are to avoid being running clocked.

Friday
Southeast (2-3) at Chatham (4-1)
Southeast has been running clocked in all three of its losses and lost by 49 to Jacksonville last week. Chatham has been playing well, the offense has scored at least 35 points each week. Chatham 53 Southeast 7

MacArthur (2-3) at Eisenhower (0-5)
Mac should easily win the battle for Decatur. They have played well the last two weeks after their 2 week COVID layoff. Eisenhower has struggled since giving Southeast a tough game Week 1 but at least has played every week so far. This is a 5 pm start. Mac 47 Eisenhower 6

U High (2-3) at Springfield (3-2)
U High lost 42-7 at home last week to Chatham. Although they are the best of the bottom tier of the conference, they are still far behind all the top teams. Springfield is coming off their second running clock defeat in a row. They should get the win pretty handily this week, but they have issues with their defense and pass protection. Jacksonville and Mac are on the schedule Weeks 7 and 8. Neither are slam dunks for the Senators. Springfield 44 U High 10

SHG (4-1) at Jacksonville (3-2)
SHG travels to Jacksonville. Both the offense and defense are playing well. The offense has scored at least 41 points each week and the defense has only given up 1 TD in four of their five games. Jacksonville lost to Chatham by one score and hung with Rochester for 1 1/2 quarters at home earlier this season. They have a good QB in Owens and a solid RB. I don’t think, however, their defense is going to be able to get many stops. SHG should win comfortably. SHG 54 Jacksonville 14

Saturday
Rochester (4-1) at Lanphier (0-5)
Rochester looked good against Springfield last week. They should be able to get the reserves in pretty early on Saturday with an eye to Week 7 at Chatham. Lanphier was shut out by Mac last week and has lost each game they’ve played by at least 46 points. Rochester 49 Lanphier 6

Rochester 65 Lanphier 6

All Finals
Chatham 48 Southeast 14. Big game next week with Rochester coming to Chatham. Chatham offense very productive again, with almost 300 yards passing. The last two meetings have been pretty one-sided, Chatham won 56-26 in 2019 to clinch the conference title and Rochester won 60-14 in the final week of the spring. Expecting a large crowd next week.

MacArthur 51 Eisenhower 0. 2nd straight shutout by Mac. Huge test next week for Mac with SHG visiting. Mac offense has been very good. Can the defense slow down SHG? Then, they have Springfield and Jacksonville both on the road to end the season. COVID cost Mac 1 sure win earlier in the season.

Springfield 40 U High 0. Good win for Springfield after back to back drubbings. Another big night for Rashad Rochelle, but they are also getting the ball more to big play RB-WR Tyree Coleman. They travel to Jacksonville next week. If Springfield can win out, they would be 7-2 and might get a 1st round home game. U High not competitive against the upper tier of the conference.

SHG 55 Jacksonville 10. SHG outscored Jacksonville 28-0 in the 2nd half and got a running clock late in the 3rd quarter. Jacksonville needs a victory against either Springfield next week or Mac in Week 9 to get to 5 wins. SHG has scored more than 50 points in 5 of the 6 games.

Final
Rochester 41 Lanphier 0. Hank Beatty threw for 4 TD’s and ran for 1 in the first quarter. Mostly reserves in for the rest of the game.

Week 7 has potentially 5 competitive games, with 3 games involving all the top 6 teams and two with the bottom 4.

Rochester (5-1) at Chatham (5-1)
SHG (5-1) at MacArthur (3-3, with 2 losses COVID forfeits)
Springfield (4-2) at Jacksonville (3-3)
Lanphier (0-6) at Southeast (2-4)
Eisenhower (0-6) at U High (2-4)
