Bears

I posted this a while back but if you look back the last 7 or 8 years teams like the Steelers, Packers and Patriots who have won a lot had something like 20 more draft picks then the Bears. Rather then giving up picks to move up they tend to trade back and use more picks to try to hit the lottery and build depth on the team.
Really really like that Post!

I have the agree with everything you said. I wanted the Bears to pick Mac Jones and a lot of people thought he was going to be a bust. I went as far as to say he was the smartest QB in the draft and would have the best NFL career.
So fat it looks like I was correct. Jones is very Brady like and I felt he was going to come into the NFL with a chip on his shoulder. He didn’t receive enough credit for how he played at Alabama.,
I was wrong on Mac Jones and was beginning to second guess myself after the Patriots picked him.

That is an interesting point.

Those three teams also have/had HOF QB’s

Abe Gibron gave that ex Bears QB a shalacking.

Games being played for who has the worst Bears QB make for interesting games.

Does Love get another interception vs the Bears today?

Interesting stat I didn’t know, Bears have 4th ranked passing defense in the league.

It's easy to be disgusted with Antonio Brown. That seems to be the initial reaction from most people who saw his outburst.

I am no medical doctor. I am also not a doctor of psychology. But, when I look at AB, he looks like a guy walking around with CTE. The NFL really shouldn't blow this incident off. This needs to be investigated. Guys, this certainly isn't normal behavior for a professional athlete, no matter who he is. I think it needs to be taken seriously.

I have a few questions here. First, if AB has issues, why is he on an NFL football field? And, who is the doctor or who are the doctors who cleared him to play? I am sure he passed protocols which allowed him to play. Where is the failure? Some of this has to be put on him. But, I am wondering if there is more at play and my hunch is, that there is.

I am not excusing what he did. But, I also think the NFL will blow this off and try to sweep under the rug possible CTE issues...like they always do.

I am looking for some articles that will be written about exactly what I am bringing up.

Tom Brady was quoted as saying the guy needs help! If a teammate can spot it, the coaches also knew there was a problem too. Don't know a lot about the guy, but the way he exited the field in the middle of the game, says Brady is right. I'd also bet that there are a ton of players on the teams he was on that know it too.

Agree with the 2 posts above at least to the extent that there are certainly symptoms of a mental health crisis which appeared to be spiraling out of control. Team physicians are almost certainly aware as is team security. While these athletes are people they are also business assets worth millions. Agree with Gene and to take it a step further, If people think that necessary people in the organization aren't in the know, someone should pull their head from the sand. AB certainly has the makings of seeing a bunch of warning signs and who knows what the future holds in the next outburst. Mental health is like the stock market, ups and downs and I think there's an element of bipolar that appears with AB. All protected health info, but with proper and strict medication management can aid to control these types of behaviors. Who knows, maybe he is medicated, but not properly or not compliant in taking the meds. CTE, sure a possibility, but seems early and I'd be curious to know how many WRs have had it. I understand defensive players, lineman and RBs. High frequency of head contact. Not sure if he was released today, but I suspect he's being held under contract as the team may have some exposure by cutting him with obvious MH stability issues. Terrible PR if he harms himself or anyone while unstable.

Idk, this guy appears to be the result of entitlement and selfishness.

He got kicked off his first college team (FIU)
Big Ben couldn't take it anymore and forced him out of Pittsburg
Absolute clown show in Oakland (burnt his feet, refused to wear anything but his old helmet - helmet was out dated and illegal, fined for missing practices, threatened the GM)
Patriots released him for off the field issues
Bucs - left the field, fake vax card.

It's never his fault...it's always someone else.

Lastly, I don't think this is a CTE issue. There are thousands of people on this earth that have CTE that operate just fine. CTE doesn't show up to later in life. That is another discussion for another thread.

First of all, I felt similar to how you feel in this post. Then I was educated more about CTE from someone who knows. And CTE doesn't necessarily show up only later in life.

The next few paragraphs are from that friend I was talking to on social media regarding AB.

"I have a medical degree. I'm here to tell you that you can't judge this shit by comparing people.

You can take 1000 huge hits, with less protection, and be completely fine. And two years after you retire you fall and bump your head on carpet and have full blown problems from it.

You can also have never taken a hit, ever. Get hit once just right with today's best protection, and the hit doesn't even look all that hard, and it can kill you, paralyze you, or shut off entire parts of your brain.

And we have no idea why it's like that.

I've studied cases where people have had a 2" metal rod go completely through their brain, and it affected nothing. There are also cases of full grown adults, that never played sports of any kind, getting slapped for fun, and it caused permanent brain damage."

The paragraphs in quotations are his words. Not mine.

So the question is do you treat the symptoms or the cause. With all due respect, i think the history is symptomatic of a larger issue.

The history is crummy and alarming and easy to turn my nose at. Its easier to write off the problem as attitude and turn your back. I dunno, just bringing another perspective. Mine is not right and others are wrong, just something to consider. Maybe he is just a jag. Idk!

So a lot good questions and it’s all debatable and difficult to prove. Either way its a problem for the rest of the team.. The only thing anyone can do is have sympathy for him but take his pads away and never let him get play football again. Seems harsh but it’s not just about AB it’s about every player on that team. AB needs help hopefully he lets someone help him? Regardless he is done with playing football IMO. If they find his illness is due to CTE his lawyer will do what is best for AB and hopefully it’s another sharp jab at the NFL for denying what we all know. Football is a dangerous sport.

I’d like to give AB the benefit of the doubt but he seems like the Kanye West of the NFL. Hope I’m wrong and he gets help if he really needs it.

Well Kanye also has severe mental health issues, so that would make sense

Why is anyone saying anything about CTE w this guy? Where does that even come from?

He’s been a horrible teammate for years. Why make excuses for him?

Kanye is actually a great comparison. No one blames him being a nut on CTE. He’s just a nut. AB is just a nut.

True but doesn’t mean it’s necessarily from too many hits to the head. He’s been an attention getter his entire career.
I didn't mention hits to the head. I think he has serious mental problems that he should seek help for. And Kanye has diagnosed bipolar disorder. I find it interesting there was so much mental health support on here following the multiple suicides by young athletes, but much different tunes in this thread.

OK, we’re talking about totally different topics. Comparing multi millionaires using their nuttiness to further their popularity versus young athletes committing suicide? I’m out.

I think you're continuing to miss my point. Mental health/illness doesn't discriminate based on age, socioeconomic class, gender, sport, profession, etc.

No I get it. Look I’ve experienced mental illness in my own family and had to admit one of my own. Some on the doctors on this board are quick to diagnose CTE. I’ll let Roger Goddell and his staff of experts weigh in on AB. I’m just saying his behavior is nothing new but if he’s certifiable then I’ll be the first to eat crow. Until then the doctors on ET need to slow their roll.

Well it worked and the kid played at Michigan and is now in the NFL. I say whatever it takes to win a recruit.

I've always thought Harbaugh's personality is better suited for the NFL. Comes off as an odd relational type of guy. NFL players seem to like to be left alone and let them do their thing and the coaches focus on X's and O's.

No question, college football and the NFL are two totally different worlds in every regard. I would agree that Harbaugh is better suited for the NFL, as well. I hope he returns.
