East Side vs Lemont

You have the matchup that was picked at the beginning of the playoffs. You have a rematch of last year's Quaterfinal game. This game should be very interesting. East Side has only given up a combined 77 points in 12 games. (6.4pts a game) With 3 consecutive shut outs in the playoffs. While averaging 46 a game. The offense is clicking. The defense has been playing lights out. But now they have a kicker. He didn't start kicking until almost close to the endof the regular season. #14 Rico Bond went 6-6 on the PAT. Then kicked a 33 yard field goal. Lemont QB has a impressive stat. The last 2yrs he's only thrown 2 interceptions. Completed close to 80% of his passes. Over 4,000 passing yards, and 67 touchdowns. East Side will have to get to him, and rattle him. Put him in some uncomfortable situations. It's going to be another cold one. 26 degrees on Saturday. This is the 3rd team East Side has faced this year. That they faced last year in the playoffs. 🔸️🔹️✈️🏈

Preliminary (and maybe Final) Thoughts on the Class 4A Semifinal Games

New Lenox Providence Catholic @ Wheaton St. Francis

1. Providence's regular and postseason schedule should benefit them greatly, especially when compared to St. Francis's.
2. The fact that this is a home game for the Spartans is possibly the best thing in their favor.
3. Providence will be a tough enough opponent for the Spartans. They don't need to add their propensity for self-inflicted wounds.
4. If St. Francis has gamebreakers, they are going to need them.

Rochester @ SHG

1. Rochester appears to have been more consistent in the postseason than SHG, although the Cyclones' less than impressive game at Waterloo was preceded and followed by complete blowouts.
2. The home field should benefit SHG but to what extent is anyone's guess.
3. The first game between the two is in the past. Leave it there! No way will this game have as great a margin of victory regardless of who wins.
4. SHG should not be confused by the Rockets' running game as they were at Waterloo, but the question is how they will deal with the big QB (250 lb.) and running back (230 lb.) should the Rochester elect to go that route.
5. The effectiveness of the Rockets' passing game could also be a determiner in how this game proceeds.
6. Much like the case with St. Francis, SHG will probably need big plays from their gamebreakers.

MS final thoughts

Tough loss for MS tonight. We gave up 2 onside kicks and a fumble that we just couldn’t overcome. If you told me we wouldn’t punt all game and lose I’d call you crazy. Anyway congrats to GW. I’d give their kicker the MVP tonight. He was outstanding. Congrats to the MS seniors on an amazing couple of seasons. Good luck to Beast and Hollywood. I hope you guys play each other.

Loyola v Lyons Township

First time post, long-time lurker.

Who can help with a breakdown of the Loyola/Lyons game? I know LA fairly well but Lyons not at all.

Despite being a mostly passing attack — and a very good one at that — this year, LA got off the bus running in round 2 and amassed 400 yards (300 in first half!) with their 3rd, 4th, and 5th string backs. Their OL is massive, even by LA standards, and appears to be peaking at the right time. I expect LA to score a lot and hope that their defense can make enough stops to hang on.

I’m seeing some support for Lyons in this game in the WSC thread. What’s their reason to believe in this game? What should we be looking for?
