What did we learn week 1!?!?

I learned after seeing they lost to Argo 45-0 in a running clock game that De La Salle is down to 18 Varsity players and had a mass exodus of players when Marty Quinn and Chris Goffer left. Did Harold Blackmon inherit a lemon in his return to the CCL? Can DLS fix a ship that was barely keeping afloat to begin with? New President Mike Zunica has an enormous project on his hands.
Argo has some talent but 45-0 shocked me. I have to thread lightly & it actually was no fault of mine. Edgy flushed a thread involving Harold. He was always nice to me but when I mentioned this it got ugly & Harold got attacked over things at St. Laurence & at Oak Lawn more so so not sure the story on Harold

ESL v LA video - More Anticipated than Tommy and Pam

ESL looks big and fast. LA has plenty of size but looks to lack team speed. I saw a lot of quick out passes by the Flyers and LA defense didn’t seem to adjust. IMO LA will be fine until the playoffs then they will be exposed against teams that have speed.
Speed kills and you can’t teach speed. Great game Flyers good luck on the season.
I think Mt. Carmel has some speed on the edges but that’s just me…

Scoreboard?

All.... The Ihsa has created a different and much better format showing scores. It used to be Friday scores were on their site till 9AM in the morning and they would disappear and content would only show the upcoming Saturday games. The same on Sunday morning. Poof the Saturday games scores were gone at 9AM.

What they have now are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday final game information and a column where one can go to a specific conference for specific score info not a big board listing school after school. Pretty nice if they decide to keep it up. Ratsy

CS8 Predictions-Week 1

All.... Calling Rocketnation! I was only able to listen to bits and pieces of the Rocket/Simeon game yesterday in passing. Steve Bridge mentioned on the radio broadcast a defensive tackle that Rochester picked up that had really showed well all during the summer practice sessions and was in the mix in the game yesterday.

Can't remember his name or exact postion on the line. I do recall Steve mentioned the player comes from a small town in the near area. Any idea who it is and his position? Ratsy
I think there is a Sophomore DL that moved in from either Auburn or Pawnee. If you watch the 1450 highlights from yesterday, I think at one point you see him blowing up a run play (#69). I believe his name is Colton Maltby.

Loyola v East Side

I would make the argument that ESL schedule had that team beat up coke the end of the season

Pops seemed to not want to be there against CG

Mentally they seemed checked out before that game even started.

With that said… I am excited to see how this flyer team matched up against these national travel teams.
- I am speaking out of both sides of my mouth with this post

Loyola v East Side

I didn't see the game, so my perspective is limited. I read a few articles that point to Loyola being smaller and slower than the Flyers. Loyola obviously lost big to a far better team. If you're gonna lose, better to do that against a superior team than an inferior one.

You might note that I was not one who claimed in a pregame post that Loyola would win that game. Neither did I think they would lose. What I did think was that it would be a close game that either team could win. That didn't happen, and it is the only thing that surprised me.

Glenbard West next up for the Ramblers. Win or lose, I think that game will be more indicative of how Loyola will fare for the rest of the year.
Glenbard West isn’t the team we have become accustomed to seeing. This isn’t a game to determine how LA will fair in the playoffs. LWE is licking their chops at pay back. This isn’t the LWE team of years past this team is fast with a QB that can sling it all over the field. Congrats to ESL. The score was a surprise and it sounds like the Flyers are going to be a tough out. That said the Flyers have a tough schedule ahead. I am not sure why Cary Grove keeps getting brought up because every year is a different team. Let’s see who can rise again to the top to make the playoffs then we can pound our chests. 😂
