The New CS8.... 2024 Schedule

I managed to be both small and slow as a Soph.

Not upset at all, made an observation based on seeing the Titans play 4 times last season.

No doubt Chatham will be excited and ready, but Edwardsville is a big step up. Looking forward to the seeing the game in person.
Edwardsville is going to destroy Glenwood. A senior laden defense for game 1 is going to be almost impossible for the boring and predictable Glenwood offense. Knoedler will be trying not to throw picks to E-ville's Illinois or Iowa State bound safety. The Titans RBs will be doing more cuts before the line of scrimmage trying to avoid the Eville senior D-line. The Edwardsville QB could have started as a sophomore last year if needed. Frankly, I see this as a running clock towards the end of the 3rd quarter. I hope I am wrong and surprised. However, this defense only gave up 203 points last year, 27 to ESL, against superior competition.

Edwardsville 42
Glenwood 7, with a late touchdown once the Eville second string defense takes over

The New CS8.... 2024 Schedule

Last year these boys were Soph's and Jr's. Do you remember how you were as a Soph??? I did not say anything but CHATHAM WILL BE READY! This this statement upsets you maybe you need some thick skin!

Sangamo Conference Woes

I never claimed QND was a powerhouse, or the material to make one. You've made that up in your head. In fact, I didn't even mention QND in this thread. YOU did. And for what? That's what I was asking. A complete stray, for what? To remind QND how much better you are? For what it's worth, in the time you listed QND made a run in 3A to the semi's. Just not as good as they once were, slim years happen my guy. You have, however, reminded me why we, QND, hate Rochester. Pompous douche canoe's who refuse to challenge yourselves and instead remain in 4A where the challenge will never exist. Then talk down to those 4A or smaller programs like you invented football... Pathetic, honestly.

I was on the 1 in the 1-3 record for QND vs. Rochester. 20 years you've built a nice program. Happy for y'all. Sure beats the scenes of ambulance's and stretchers we saw in 2004. Y'all was weak AF back then. Our frosh and soph made y'all look like soccer players that day.

I can't even begin to take you seriously with the Rochester playing up part. You're a a joke for that one.

We will be 1-3 going into week 5... but, you know, that's because we ACTUALLY play up. < 400 kids enrolled... playing a 2023 7A quater-finalist, an annual 4A powerhouse in R-B, and SHG... who you're familiar with I believe. The 4th team having over 1200 kids enrolled, easy math for you on that, that's 3 times our size in student body alone. The same cupcake you've "played up" against for 15 years. QND joining a whole conference twice to 3 times their size in enrollment is nothing, though, compared to Rochester playing one little game against an 8A Loyola...

I'll take the 2-7 bet. Name the price.
Wait stop wait.... I must have missed something in your post. Are you glamorizing the 2000 or 2004 games in order to validate some lost valor for some 38-42 year olds? The Rockets were 4 years & 8 years into their program when those glory days of the Raiders occurred. And all the Rockets have done since is go 5-2 against your lil Raiderettes. Looking at your lil Q boys, you've never made the final whereas the Rockets, in their brief existence, have been in the quarters every year since 2008, the semis 12 of the past 14 years, and won all NINE times they've reached the final. And don't give us the "wE oNlY hAvE 400 kIdS eNrOlLeD" nonsense. You have your pick. They just don't pick YOU. So, if you want to go back in time, why is it your lil buccaneers average 5.6 wins and 4.3 losses per season while the Rockets average 8.6 wins and 3.1 losses per season? Literally, a kid born the day the Rockets program began would not qualify to run for President. Whereas your lil pirates had players in the Korean War. So, let's stop with the inferiority complex you've been spewing. With 13 winning seasons out of the past 20, your program IS inferior. Even Massey agrees that you would be 1-7 against last year's 3A quarterfinalists as you squeak by Stanford-Olympia. Be careful or we'll sic that juggernut Nashville on you to pay another visit.

The New CS8.... 2024 Schedule

Chatham couldn't stop the run last year against MacArthur, SHG, or Rochester. We're going to find out quickly if they've built a bigger, more physical defense against a team that returns 9 starters on offense, including 4 O-Lineman each weighing between 230 and 285.
Last year these boys were Soph's and Jr's. Do you remember how you were as a Soph??? I did not say anything but CHATHAM WILL BE READY! This this statement upsets you maybe you need some thick skin!

TV for Cascia? SR 27, Sandburg 17 (Final)

I can just piggy back onto this thread if you don’t mind.

I know there’s plans to televise. Saw more tech gear there this year than last year but don’t know if it’s for game film use or public consumption. I can make a call tomorrow morning.

As far as a preview: This matchup is perfect for both schools. A great test for both schools but with the SICA/DuPage merger, I don’t know if Sandburg re-ups for another two years.

I say perfect for both schools because St. Rita gets a healthy program with an excellent coach while still being favored most of the time. While Sandburg gets an annual playoff qualifier with a challenging roster that they can definitely beat once in awhile. I mean Sandburg’s schedule does not ‘need’ St. Rita on it to make them playoff-ready, the rest of their schedule is challenging enough. Does Sandburg re-up with a traditional power or go searching for an easier week 1 W?

As far as the game goes, it’s a toss up. St. Rita’s young speed vs Sandburg’s size. Sandburg, again, impresses with McAllister as their week 0 scrimmage was vs Morgan Park. Morgan Park has speed to burn so St. Rita’s possible speed advantage is partially negated by the Eagles’ having seen top flight speed already this season ( how many years can you say that in week one, never until week 0’s became a thing)

St. Rita usually known for a having a stable of corn-fed, sewer cap monsters is undersized compared to their usual years. But fret not, they’ll still be bigger than 75% of their opponents. And from the looks from week 0, Sandburg is not a team the Mustangs will be bigger than. The Eagles are massive.

I know the coaches don’t want to hear this but this collection of St. Rita Mustangs is the best group of talent they have had sophomore to senior since the Kaleb Brown/Michael Gaughan year. But they are young, and I mean young. 17? Seniors on the team. But of those seniors are the extremely talented James Kingsbury, Justin Buckner and Nick Herman so that is an impressive trio. Plus, I’m going to say it now, the defensive backfield led by returning juniors Langston Smith and James Franklin with the rest of the nickel personnel are all underclassmen, I cannot wait to see them with one year of Coach Hopkins under their belt. It’s possibly the best potential defensive backfield I have seen at 77th and Western Ave.

The Mustangs offense could be explosive. JR QB Armbruster definitely impressed me in week 0 being bigger, stronger and quicker than I remember. If Coach Nee can get his swagger going early in games and in the season, he can have an extremely productive career. I see the JR Armbruster’s confidence as an extremely important factor to his game. He’s hard on himself. But when he’s bouncing like he knows he belongs (Marist game last year) then he could end up being the best player on the field.

And if St. Rita has a potential, legitimate Player of the Year Candidate, it’s RB Nick Herman, violent, fast, a threat to house each touch. Best CCL player not named Elliot. Soph RB, Brandon Johnson looks the part. Herman is the horse but you can’t go an 11-14 game season with their schedule getting 40 touches, you need a compliment and Brandon Johnson could be perfect. Raw, talented, large, fast, accepts contact, if his feet, angles and carrying height improves over time, St. Rita will produce another top flight RB. Toss in what could be St. Rita’s best offensive weapon in since Kaleb Browns Junior year in Walter Jones and like I said, the very young Mustangs could, COULD be explosive.

Sandburg returns many key pieces from last year and will again have the size advantage. This game could go either way. Sandburg with a quality week 0 opponent, have a week experience over the young Mustangs and if I have overrated St. Rita’s talent, then the Eagles will go toe to toe for 4 quarters winning a 22-21 type game. I believe St. Rita will win 21-8 but can see them losing this game also like I said if I have overrated them. Sorry wit that it took so long to respond. Have a great week
Great stuff, as always!

ICE Week 1 Thread

I honestly don’t have much idea how week 1 will go.
I feel very confident that Morris will take care of business vs CC and Peotone will beat the CPS school that they are playing.

Wilmo should be considered the favorite at home, but Hope was really good last year and Wilmo is replacing most of both O and D lines.

The other games look like toss ups at best.

Harvard has been pretty bad for a while, but Lisle was really rough last year.

R-C v EPG is a toss up as was previously mentioned. I didn’t get a lot of optimism from my R-C friends about this season. Maybe they were sandbagging, but I don’t think so.

Manteno got handled by Sandwich last year, so this shapes up to be a tough one for the Panthers.

Herscher v Chicago Christian… ? Is Herscher on the rebound after some lean years?

5-3 record for the conference might be a good week.

EDGY via Daily Herald: Why I'm Obsessed with the Southwest Valley Conference

Fair point. If you look back at when they used to play even if East beat them the environment was on another level. 2017 East vs Central had to have had at least 8-10 thousand people there. Another crazy thing too is if East ends up having a bye week week 2, they’re going to have to play their starters at least a half against Stagg to keep their legs going for the next push of the season. And that might be running clock by half time….
Agreed
Sucks for East to be in this position.

ICE Week 1 Thread

It's finally game week! Not a monster slate of games, but there are a few critical matchups for ICE teams. Hopefully the heat subsides a little bit and we can dip back into the beautiful fall weather that we had last week. As always feel free to share your thoughts.

Records listed are 2023 final total.

El Paso-Gridley (6-4 2023 @ Reed-Custer (3-6) - I think this is a very important game for the Comets to get to 5 wins. IF they lose it's not impossible to reach the playoffs, but this week could help to take some of the pressure of must win games off later in the season. I think this matchup is a slightly below average 3a against a similar strength 2A opponent. This game should help get a better understanding on Braidwood. If they win at least we know they may be somewhat competent, and if they lose then it could mean a long season. I'm not sure often EPG plays on turf so that could help the Comets out and if it is crazy hot out still not riding an hour on the bus helps them too. I like Braidwood in a tight one. Give me RC 27 - EPG 21

Coal City (8-3) @ Morris (11-1) - In the last rendition of this restored rivalry it's sad to think that the Coalers don't have much of a shot. I do think that this should be their only loss until they reach the last third of the season against Wilmington. This also seems to be the only real challenge for CC leading up to that game, so it should be beneficial to have that experience under their belt. Morris wins with ease. Morris 35 Coal City 14

Palos Heights (Chicago Christian) (5-5) @ Herscher (2-7) - I honestly do not know much about either team. If Chicago Christian is in a down year and Herscher is improved I think they could hang here, however I do not see that as the case.
That's weird my whole post didn't go through

The New CS8.... 2024 Schedule

Because Rochester opens Saturday, I plan on going to Chatham vs Edwardsville the night before. Even at home, Chatham's probably a multi-score underdog. However, how well the Titans compete will send a clear signal whether this is the season the Titans again challenge Rochester and SHG for the top of the conference.
I will be catching ESL vs Loyala on Saturday at ISU. easy to accomplish both games as it's at 7:00 PM

Give me your team’s Star, Stud, Sleeper and Soon

Warren Township

Star:
The Offensive & Offensive Lines
Stud: The Secondary (Long, Fast and Athletic)
Sleeper: Jayden Johnson Viper (LB/Safety)
Soon: Zay Montgomery (JR) Will get starts at WR, Corner, and KR & PR - Devin Hester type return skills)
Did your report card often say, "Does not follow instructions?"

EDGY via Daily Herald: Why I'm Obsessed with the Southwest Valley Conference

Exactly I am not sure why no LW cross overs. To be fair IMO LWC or LWW can’t beat East but certainly more entertaining. Stagg doesn't even have a puncher’s chance.
Sorry if the truth hurts.

Couldn’t agree more. All 3 Lincoln Ways will be good this year. They missed out on some really good and entertaining matchups. No one in their right mind wants to see East vs Stagg in 2 weeks…………

Chicago Christian should be on the upswing this year. A new, highly regarded coach and a Senior heavy team. Expectations are high for this team. I'll be heading down to Herscher to check things out. We will see

Good Luck to all

Good Luck to all the teams this year who put a team on the field. I will as always miss teams like Kankakee Eastridge & Westview, Joliet East, Lincoln Way North, Rich East,Rich South & Rich Central & Bloom & Bloom Trail among many many others who no longer will be playing as such. And For Cross Bones I firmly believe The Brook will make the playoffs.

EDGY via Daily Herald: Why I'm Obsessed with the Southwest Valley Conference

You state, "It's strange to see all 3 LW schools not playing each other this season." It remains beyond strange then how LWW and LWC have managed to avoid playing LWE in cross-overs while Stagg and Andrew have had East on the schedule 7 times during the 4 seasons 2021-2024. Bringing the cross-over schedule model(s) into the light of day would go a long way toward explaining this inequity that has continued even through a huge conference change this year.

2024 Conference Preview: North Suburban

EDGYTIM.com's 2024 North Suburban Conference Predicted Finish

+Warren Township

*Lake Zurich

*Libertyville

*Lake Forest

*Stevenson

Mundelein

Zion Benton

Waukegan

+denotes predicted 2024 conference champion

*denotes 2024 IHSA state playoff projected qualifier

Preseason Conference MVP?

Warren Township senior RB Aaron Stewart
- Aarion Stewart is a key player in the Blue Devils offense again this season. Stewart, who is also a state and national wrestling standout will again be asked to lead the Warren rushing attack, which should benefit with an improved passing game this fall.

Lake Zurich senior OL/DL Jacob Wilk- Wilk, who is verbally committed to Western Michigan is a talented and athletic big man who will also be asked to provide leadership and production for the Bears this fall.

Libertyville senior QB Quinn Schambow Libertyville has several key underclassmen to watch this season who are drawing recruiting attention, yet this team will kick things into high gear led by QB Quinn Schambow. Schambow, who ism also a college level baseball recruit has a strong and accurate arm as well as being a very strong overall athlete.

Lake Forest senior QB Danny Van Camp- Van Camp is another big kid (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) and impressive all around athlete for the Scouts who will again be asked to lead the Lake Forest offense this fall. Lake Forest has high expectations this season and if Van Camp can build upon a pretty strong 2023 season, the Scouts could be a dangerous team in 6A.

Mundelein senior OL/DL Dylan Coe Coe will be a nulti-year varsity starter who is also drawing steady recruiting looks and attention this summer. I fully expect Coe to play full time on both sides of the football this fall.

Sleeper Players to Watch?

Lake Zurich senior ATH Jackson Piggott
- Piggott is another multi-year starter and impact player for the Bears.

Warren Township senior QB Jack Wolf- Wolf is coming off a strong 2023 season and looks ready to take his game and the Blue Devils offense to a much higher level.

Toughest Overall Schedule?

Warren Township
- The Blue Devils and heaed coach Bryan McNulty do not play around when it comes to it's non conference schedule. The Blue Devils open the season hosting Hersey, then play at Swagger High and finish the season @ Stevenson vs Lake Zurich and @ Libertyville. That's legit.

Top 2024 North Suburban Conference Games?

Lake Forest at Stevenson
October 10th- The Scouts and the Patriots get a nice early conference showdown and a chance to see exactly where both programs are going for the remainder of the regular season.

Lake Zurich at Warren Township October 18th Another great North Sububran showdown that has been pretty much the top game in the league for the lst several years. Need proof? Ask the players and they will well you this is the game.

Warren Township @ Libertyville October 25th Best case scenario.....both have a shot at winning the conference title, a high playoff seed and 5-7000 crazed fans? I'm down with that.

North Suburban Conference Statement Game?

Warren Township @ Maine South
September 6th- No question this is the battrlw of two of the top Class 8A programs in the Northern suburbs. Yet another great early matchup of two programs who have the balls to play each other be damned the results. Kudos to both schools.
