Player of the Year candidates?

Schambow played in baseball showcase game October 26/27 in Jupiter FL. Much MLB attention. Verbal commit to Oklahoma State baseball. Video from August 18 All Star game in San Diego attached. Schambow catching, see back-pick. Watch Schambow framing pitches (strikes). Baseball decision(s) to be made next spring.

I think the SPC was on par with where they should be. They just had crap teams during their tenure there. So let's go back to a weaker conferences until they dominate just to get dragged in the first round.

Personally, I think it's embarrassing.
I just thought your comments above regarding West Aurora were a bit harsh. You also seemed to suggest they would lose their first-round game, which they did not do. I'm not claiming Huntley is a great team, but they did lose to Cary-Grove by only one point.

I try to go where the evidence leads me. As mentioned earlier, over the previous five seasons the Upstate Eight Conference champions were 5-0 in the opening round with the closest victory being by 8 points. Consequently, I was reasonably confident West Aurora would win its opening playoff game, which it did.

Conversely, although I will be rooting for West Aurora to defeat Maine South (only because they will be the underdog and their conference is much maligned), the evidence suggests that will not happen. In the second round over the last five seasons, the Upstate Eight Conference champions were 0-5 with the closest loss being by 18 points. Nevertheless, to use a word you used above, there is nothing "embarrassing" about being one of the last 16 teams playing in the 8A playoffs (no matter what conference you play in).

Bracket Dark Horses (spoilers)

4A Peoria Notre Dame. I am not and X and O guy and will leave it to the experts whether Rochester could have defended the run better. Their offense is less impacted by poor weather that becomes a greater issue as playoffs continue. Their game plan of kicking onside after each score can steal possessions and be demoralizing after giving up a score if onside is successful.

PND comes out of Big 12 conference which the exception of itself for and Manual are 5A and 6A teams. Common characteristic of a 4A team advancing out of the South to state over at least the last 15 years has been a team that "played up" during the regular season.

They were one score away from winning 2 games against a 5A and a 6A playoff teams. Finally, they played St Louis Christian Brothers, 5th ranked Max Preps in MO, to a half time score of 27 to 14 halftime score before CB pulled away to win 62 to 28.

Bears

Had plans today, the game was on but wasn't focused on it. What I did see wasn't great. My question is for the members of this board, why do all of the players get a free pass? Almost zero comments about execution, just all on coaching.

Friends and family I was with criticized the coaches but blamed the players more for lack of execution, but everyone here lays it all on the coaches. Why? Why does Caleb's inaccuracy get a free pass when Fields didn't? Why do you comment about coaches not making adjustments but not defenders ability to make a tackle? Caleb holds the ball too long or can't just throw to the check down and it's all on the OL and not him.

Why do you all hold the Bears to such high expectations? Their last 2 championships were 1985 and 1963, so they have one title in the last 61 years yet you continue to be disappointed when they don't succeed. Explain.

Daniels is miles ahead of Williams in terms of rookie development yet you are all in denial that Williams may have been the wrong pick. You have convinced yourselves that since he was the #1 pick that he has to be the guy.

Next coach? Vrabel? I personally love the guy, but shocked someone here mentioned him. For a bunch of guys that want the Bears to put up 50 points a game I'm surprised you'd want another defensive coach. Any offensive success Vrabel had was due to Derek Henry. If you want a new HC the correct answer is Ben Johnson.

I’m an Aurora guy and really like what Coach Eimer has been able to achieve at WA. I hope they make a deep run for the city…would bring a lot of pride for the city that always seems to be viewed as second class to the neighboring cities.

Certainly possible. This is a "down" MS team the past two years. Even with that, not an easy task. Happy to admit when I'm wrong. Just like I was with Barrington last year

BYRON at MONTINI?

Considine was healthy against Dixon.

His dad is the DC and had a nice podcast with Edgy earlier this year.

On it he mentioned that the first stringers this year are just as good as last years but the depth isn’t the same. Last year the backups came in and dominated and that’s why the scores were so bad last year.
As adults we see this...

New IHSA bylaw proposal seeks to eliminate Prep Bowl

It still has some cache in Chicago. People grow up hearing their dads and grandfathers talk about it. Plus I think there’s motivation to turn a disappointing sub-500 record around
Is there any community support around the games? Do students attend? Bands and cheerleaders participate?

Never been to a prep bowl game before so curious.

New IHSA bylaw proposal seeks to eliminate Prep Bowl

Prep bowl has always felt like playing the 3rd place game in basketball.

Why does anyone care to play in it?
What’s the motivation?
