Will it be the toughest ticket in the state next weekend?

Years ago Morris and JCA met early in the playoffs a few times being 1 and 2 in their class.
The '99 quarter final game sticks out to me 16-14 JCA after Morris last minute FG goes wide right. JCA walked to the title after that.

Then there was the '05 quarter final game thst involved the RB from Morris that will not be named for fear of making the JCA faithful break out in a cold sweat.

I have no recollection of this game u speak of

It's all a bit fuzzy, but I think the guy who runs this joint may have contributed to a book about the mystery game.
Back to the game, Montini needs to hold Byron to 3 touchdowns to have a chance. Maybe 4 at most.

And get 5 touchdowns. Mistake free ball is the key.

I think it plays out similar to last year. Close game, the offenses shine, but the defense that makes the big stop wins. People forget that last year wasn't an up and down the field game, it was 26-20. I think the game against Dixon helps Byron since Dixon throws more than any other team Byron has seen and they pushed Byron to the absolute limit. While Montini's schedule was tougher, Larry is the only team they beat that is still alive.

In my opinion it's going to come down to Montini's discipline. Can they get past Byron's 4-5 yards and a cloud of dust, long drive, grind it out style without getting frustrated? Most obvious statement of the year, but the 4th quarter will decide the game. If Byron happens to be up by 2 scores going into the 4th, will Montini have enough possessions to take the lead? And to the opposite, if Montini is up 2 scores, can Byron grind out 2 scores and keep Montini down?

Hopefully, the Byron DC learned his lesson. In the first half, he played a 3 man front and only had 6 sometimes 5 in the box. Dixon ran the ball down their throats. Second half, he adjusted and rushed 4 and consistently had 7 in the box. Did a much better job vs. the run.

Not sure where I stand on this game yet.

Byron’s offense is tough to prepare for when you only see it once a year. Byron has seen a few really good spread offenses this year.

Montini playing at home in turf is a big plus for them as opposed to playing on the grass in the cornfields of Byron.

I’m leaning towards Montini as they have the revenge factor going for them.

Bracket has set up pretty much perfectly for Montini. They get to play Byron at home, and if they move on, looks like they’ll get the semifinal at home also.

I dont see that. Both teams are similar to last year. It may go down to who has the ball l

Montini by 3+ scores, anyone that thinks otherwise hasn’t been paying attention.
Im sure Montini's kids are thinking the same thing since mighty Byron has struggled this season. What Montini's players don't understand is Byron didn't have their main running back/Middle Linebacker for most of the season. Kids don't grasp what they can't see like adults and Im sure they read boards like these and seeing crazy posts where Montini is going to win by 3 scores. They will believe it because they see it. They will get a lesson in indoctrination vs. reality!!!!

I doubt many players read or care what us knuckleheads post on the message boards.
I think there is zero percent chance that Montini players are thinking this game is gonna be a cake walk because some random poster from Fairfield predicted a 3 score win.
I also feel confident that there are folks associated with Montini who are well aware of Considine’s status.
I’d bet the only “extra” motivation or thought will come from the fact that these two teams played a very close game last year.

I’m sure coach Bu doesn’t have internet access and isn’t aware that Byron was missing their best player for most of the year. Instead of getting ready for this game they are planning their state championship parade

It’ll be a close game. Traditionally Montini has struggled against teams like this. It all depends on how this game is played

Yeah I think it will be close.
I’m leaning Montini with good weather on their home turf.
The soph dual threat QB gives them an advantage over last year and has really seemed to spark Montini this season. Byron’s defense will be put to the test and their offense had better finish some long drives with points on the board.
Should be a great game.

I love the way Byron plays football, but I'm giving Montini the edge in this one. Not because of turf, home game, etc. It's all about PAYBACK this time.

Would have loved to see a potential Montini/Wilmo take place under the lights at Wilmington. But Ill settle for Lombard as it’s 15min from my house 😉

Considine was healthy against Dixon.

His dad is the DC and had a nice podcast with Edgy earlier this year.

On it he mentioned that the first stringers this year are just as good as last years but the depth isn’t the same. Last year the backups came in and dominated and that’s why the scores were so bad last year.

I'll let all you experts figure out who's going to win this battle.

My Homer 3A pick is Wilmington to win it all, and it kind of looks like, IF Wilmington can make the semi's, that game would be Away against whichever beast wins this classic showdown.

Byron's first string only play half games.

As adults we see this...
