IMHO the current system is the most reasonable and objective system. Only change I would make would be 1-32 for all classes. The seeding and hosting school make sense to me.
1-32 is a must, but I’ll give you a possible scenario that I find highly questionable. IF LF were to be Geneva at home this week, and if CG takes care of business vs BN, the semi final would be at LF. Therefore the lower ranked team would host both the Quarters and Semis.

DGN 13 Fenwick 10 final

How did DGN win with Fenwick being able to recruit from any zip code and all?.....😉. Sorry had to do it or it wouldn't be playoff season!
I'm not sure you want to go there. The CCL/ESCC Blue, Green, Orange and White Divisions are 16-1 against teams not in the CCL/ESCC through the first two rounds of the playoffs. The one loss was Fenwick's 3-point loss on the road to Downers Grove North, which is one of the very best public-school teams in the state.

For whatever reason, the CCL/ESCC plays on a different level when it comes to football. I know, I know, they just try harder.

As for the Purple and Red Divisions, they are beatable. That is why they are relegated to the Purple and Red Divisions.

There are perhaps eight public high schools in the entire state of Illinois that can compete with the CCL/ESCC high schools in their respective class levels. They are:

East St. Louis (already demonstrated this year)
Lincoln-Way East (We shall see if they can get past Loyola this year.)
Cary-Grove
Byron (gave Montini all they could handle in 3A)
Sycamore (It should be nothing but CCL/ESCC teams the rest of the way in 5A. We will see how long they last.)
Downers Grove North (They barely managed to get past Fenwick.)
Kankakee (They played Nazareth tough in the opening game of the season.)
Lyons Township (If one includes Downers North, barely, then I suppose one would have to include Lyons, barely)

The CCL/ESCC will likely win three or four state championships this year, out of the five for which they compete. They do not compete in 1A, 2A or 6A. Not to worry though, it is a level playing field for all that participate.

The current system has Loyola at # 12 in 8a and Mt. Carmel at #17. How accurate do you think those are?
They're objective and transparent. What went into the AP ranking that has Loyola at #6 in 8A? No one knows and I have an issue with that.

Again, they both won and are still alive so who cares what their playoff seed is? If they're both playing the weekend after Thanksgiving then they're one of the best 2 teams in their class regardless of the number next to their name.

Higher seeds should get the home game.

AP currently has Loyola at #6 in 8A, West Aurora at #10, and York not in the top 10. Do those rankings make sense to you?

Do you really think anyone at the AP is traveling the state of Illinois and evaluating teams for their rankings?

Im not necessarily proposing one computer over the other. But the current system does not account for a wide disparity in SOS and often over rates a 9-0 team over a 2 or 3 loss team that played a much tougher schedule. At least with the AP polls, that is taken in to account. I don't think there would be any other seeding system that would have had rd 2 matchups of LA/Marist, Byron/Montini, SCN/MC, etc.
The thing is I know how the current system works and it's objective and fair. When we start introducing people and computer algorithms you're going to get a lot of BS explanations from irrational actors and inexplicable ratings from computers. This system does away with all the shenanigans.

Those computers have some absurd ratings every time I see them. Not sure how they could come to some of those conclusions.

CS8 Playoffs Thread - Done and Dusted, Just Like Maroa...

On the bright side...SHG State Champions in 2025 and 26!
All.... Hold on sir. Figuring out actual enrollment is a two year deal. Looking at past historical numbers the Cyclones will be on that bubble between 3A and 4A. I see them going 4A along with QND. It will be a different look for the Raiders in 2025 which Roamin' if he has time gearing up for Maroa next Saturday can speak about.... Ratsy

Id want to see them change how they seed 1-8 in class 7a/8a. Massey, AP, Maxpreps, etc. Something better to avoid the top teams from meeting before the qtr finals.

Quarterfinals games

Profound observation!
Nothing new just glad the quarters are here. I know many on here are not happy with the blowouts. I agree and just like to see more competitive games. It’s getting down to only the best teams are still playing at this point. I believe 4Afan said it doesn’t matter if you play a team in the first or second round if you win you move on regardless. I myself have no problem with LWE playing LA in the semifinals if it works out that way. If East wants to win a championship they have to beat the best. Same as every other team still playing regardless of class.
Good luck to all the teams. They are all deserving.

Warren wins 35-26, Stewart 42 carries, 359 yards and 5 TD's. Kid is amazing!!

Agreed. Should be interesting. The last several games teams just have their DT's fall in the A/B holes making piles in the hole. If your DE cannot play run .... Warren will run behind their 2 Big OT's up the C hole. Stewart is low to the ground ... you cannot see him until he is your lap. He's is okay with 1 - 2 -3 yards. By the 3rd Q teams get worn down. If you are a step slow filling your hole Stewart is gone. York QB likes to run a lot. He better get down because Warren plays physical. It should be a fun one for semi final ticket 🎟. 🎢
