It is impossible for me to say what place is best. My spouse, I and my kids have been fortunate to see a lot. Vacations are a personal taste. I don't mind making long drives and have driven to California more than once. Took the truck and drove out to the Bad Lands, Yellowstone and Glacier Mountain a few years ago. But, we have jumped on a plane to go places and across the pond a few times as well. Going to Iceland later this year to see the Northern Lights.
When my spouse and I retire in a few years we are getting a smaller RV and hitting the road. We don't believe in going on vacation to sit around. Hell, we can do that here. So, we hike, fish and do whatever the location calls for. And by the way Zip-Lining is f-ing great. We did that in Gatlinburg a few years ago and it was awesome. They had 7 lines and at least one was a quarter mile long and about 500 feet up. Also did some white water rafting there and in Wyoming. However, taking a day and sitting on the beach is not out of order.
