Loyola Academy 2021 DE Brandon Svets (6-foot-5, 230 pounds) has been one of the most in demand uncommitted names in the State of Illinois Class of 2021 this summer. Svets checks in and recaps his latest recruiting news here.
"We start back conditioning with the team tomorrow (Tuesday) in small group," Svets said. "It's a start and I'm excited to just get back together with some of the guys and get back to work."
Svets also recapped his latest recruiting news.
"Illinois has continued to pick things up and I have a Zoom meeting scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) with the Illinois coaches. I've been talking with Coach (Jimmy) Lindsey quite a bit from Illinois. I've also been in touch with several of the coaches who have offered me. Lately I'm just enjoying talking with the coaches and learning more about them and the schools. I've taken a few earlier Zoom meetings and they definitely help but it still not the same as making visits in person."
Does Svets have a time frame for making a college decision?
"No, I'm not in any rush for now. I still want to be able to get out and make visits.I want to see as many schools as I can, but with the COVID restrictions it might be hard to get out until the fall."
Does Svets have any schools in mind that he wants to visit?
"I would love to get out to visit Harvard, Yale, Fordham along with Northern Illinois and some others. Illinois also wants me to come visit them as soon as it's allowed."
So what will Loyola fans see this coming season from Svets that they didn't see last season?
"I'll have a lot more strength and power for this coming season. I've added 35 pounds from last season and I also feel I've kept my overall speed and quickness up. Between the weight room and working on my diet I've added good weight and strength. I'm planning on having more sacks and just causing more havoc on defense this year."
