Oswego (Ill.) 2023 tight end recruit Deakon Tonielli (6-foot-5, 210 pounds) has been staying busy this summer juggling both summer team basketball along with his team football camps. Tonielli checks in and updates his latest football recruiting news and more in this update.

"The only camp I've been to this summer is Tennessee" Tonielli said. "I don't have any other camps planned this summer. I have offers so far from Tennessee and also Iowa State and I've been in touch with them."

Tonielli filled us in on which schools have been showing the most recruiting interest in them this summer?

"I'm still talking with the schools who have offered me (Tennessee and Iowa State) from time to time. Ohio State has started to show some interest in me. Penn State has also been very interested in me lately. Penn State seems to be pretty close to possibly offering me soon. The coaches from both Ohio State and Penn State said they want to stay in touch and they want to build a relationship with me this summer and fall."

Tonielli also has been focused on his team this summer including the Panthers football team camp.

"We started back with our team football camp last week. We will get a week off around the 4th of July and then we will report back after the holiday. We've been lifting as a team and working out on our own."

So what has Tonielli working to improve in his overall game this summer?

"I'm definitely mnore focused on adding more good weight and strength."

Deakon Tonielli has scholarship offers from Tennessee and Iowa State.

My Take on Deakon Tonielli recruiting: I'm surprised that Tonielli hasn't begun to draw more Power 5 level offers by now this summer. Part of that missing equation in my opinion is Tonielli not getting out to very many camps this summer and schools just not having the chance to see him up close and in person. Tonielli has all the tools you are looking for in a Power 5 level tight end recruit and I feel he can develop into a top tier highly ranked tight end in the Class of 2023. If anyone is on the verge of blowing up this summer....it's Deakon Tonielli.
