A couple questions about the upcoming vote on districts.

Not looking to turn this into a thread about whether or not districts are a good or bad idea.

I've read the proposed by-law multiple times and a few things I'm still not clear on.

1. Does this proposal exclude all of the CPS Illini schools? its not mentioned at all. Obviously, this could impact brackets a ton

2. There are currently 525 playoff eligible schools. This would mean 65 teams per division. How would 9 team districts mean managed?

3. It says once 32 playoff teams are determined, then current playoff system is used for seeding. Does this mean there will be still North and South in 1A-4A?

2. I know that in Texas, district size isn’t uniform. Some districts have 8 or 9 teams and others have 5 or 6. Its based on travel mostly.

You're correct. Some district are full while others have only 4. Travel is the big factor.

I believe Texas has an 11 week regular season with a bye week built in so odd conferences aren't a big deal.

Also correct. So you could actually have a bye week or two depending on whom you can schedule for your non-district games. Obviously the more teams in district gives less opportunities for non-district opponents.

I actually think having 10 or 11 6-team districts per class would make lots of this much more palatable.

Don't work too hard on this. It passed last time. But when people saw what district they were in it got voted down in pretty short order in a motion to reconsider. Everyone wants to be the big dog in the junk yard not the Chihuahua.

Well, the legislative committee votes on which proposals go forward today. So I imagine a whole new level of debate/consternation starting tomorrow.

There were slightly less than 500 playoff eligible football programs this year.

I was counting all Illini schools in the 525, which is what I think would happen in the district format.
There are no "Illini" schools anymore. There are Red, White, and Blue. Red and white are playoff eligible. Which were you counting?
