Eville edged out Kenwood at the Norm Armstrong, which is the second-best meet in the state, until the St. Clair County meet. Some good marks in IL - nothing majopr on the national front, except the Evill frosh, ranked 1 in his class. Seems Iose is not participating - missed ponts in the shot and disc for sure for Eville.

Mascoutah seems to have the fastest guy and there are a bunch of leapers in the SWC.

Here are some STL marks: https://stats.stlhighschoolsports.com/sports/trackboys/stats/

I cannot find a current IL list of marks. Who should we be looking out for this spring?

Does not look to be a weekend of southern supremacy. Whereas the SW conference usually has a team or two competing for the top spots of the sprint relays, that is not the case this weekend. Iose does not seem to be participating, ; leaving big points on the table for Eville. No jumpers are making noise, which is an area where Eville, East, and O'Fallon have scored in the past. East Side's 2A-leading 4x100 (41.83) would rank only 6 in 3A. Down year for track in southern IL/

That said, across the state, some really strong times in the sprints - five dudes are under 10.6, which is great in IL. Four guys 60+ for shot, a couple of 190s in discus.

Evanston rising junior Justin Johnson (Northwestern & Miami OH offers) will be in finals for 100, 200, 4x200. Any other returning football players competing today?

WOW - a 10.24 100!!!! From New Trier!!!!!!

Eville kid got bronze with 10.51 then put the A team in the 4x100 and got bronze. Seems Iose did participate - STRANGELY did not qualify in discus, for which he won last year, barely qualified for shot, and sits at 16th after prelims. WTF is going on with that????

West took 1 and 2 in the 110 hurdles, East got 8th. East got 2nd and 7th in the 300 hopper. West takes bronze on LJ. East Side takes gold in 2A 4x100 - 41.57, which would be 4th in 3A. Flyer also won 2A 4x200 at 1:27.03, again 4th compared to 3A. East Side takes 1 and 8 in the triple jump and scored in other events.

Who knows - maybe they take 2a with 400 and 200 remaining.

That is a wrap. Not a bad as I thought for the locals - but no titles.

This kid is a MONSTER - Miami bound OT and top rated kid in 2026.

Take a look at his breeding lineage:
Jackson Cantwell, who has the nickname of "Mr. Olympics," has the DNA that coaches dream of. Cantwell is the son of former USA Olympians Christian and Teri (Steer) Cantwell. His father is a five-time world champion and won a silver medal in the shot put at the 2008 Beijing games and in 2004 had the top four shot put throws in the world. Teri Cantwell participated in the 2000 Sydney games and was a two-time NCAA shot put champion at SMU. "It's pretty amazing," Nixa coach John Perry told the Springfield News-Leader. "He has not only been blessed genetically from his height. But he's also been blessed with parents who have put a work ethic in him to where he likes to work out and get stronger. He likes to be better than he was the day before and everybody doesn't have that." Along with his football accolades, Cantwell also excels in shotput like his parents. He had one of the top 20 throws amongst all high schoolers in 2023. Cantwell also scored a 33 on the ACT – when he was a freshman.

New Trier with the 3A team title after a runner-up finish in IHSA Boys' Water Polo last weekend. Interesting almost-double.
