This is my extended review from yesterday. Felt very comfortable looking and evaluating the OL and DL group. Was thrilled with the overall numbers (upper 90's) and especially the talent level. The defensive linemen group in Illinois might not have as many of the high D1 level body types, but this is shaping up to be another good and deep group.
Noah Hickcox Boylan- good sized kid here. Has a good mix of size speed and strength and was at his best in one on ones. Really like Noah's motor and just kept coming back for more and more work. Has the chance to develop into a mid D1 defensive end/tackle type. Could play at either spot at the next level.
Lamontre Harvey East St Louis- performed well and looked pretty solid in drill work and in one on ones. More on a defensive tackle/nose type but is also pretty quick/mobile and athletic.
Terez Lagrone East St Louis- is still a bit raw when it comes to the position but Terez has size, length, quickness and just has the eyeball passing looks to draw more offers. I really saw Terez turn it up a few notches in one on ones and seemed to get better with reps. No question a D1 level name here.
Devonte Dunn Nazareth- I've seen Devonte a ton over the years and I just love his game. Only real question for Dunn at the college level is he done physically growing or will he be able to add a bit more size? Regardless, Dunn is simply one of the top interior DL in this class. Non stop motor and great, great strength here.
Elijah James Oswego East- junior has been a mystery man....well to everyone who didn't see his video linked here a few weeks or so linked here. James already looks like a major D1 kid on the hoof (6-foot-5, 240 pounds). James also is still learning the defensive end spot but again has the raw tools and abilities. Has great length, reach and is just has very good feet in quickness. Huge upside here. Huge.
Chris Elmore Phillips- just another interior kid who might not have the ideal size for the major D1 level but who just has exceptional game. Elmore was one of the most impressive kids I saw in 2015 and remains as impressive on Monday. Elmore plays fast and is very strong and physical. Elmore also has developed his overall moves and technique and is just very tough to block.
Christian Wills Belleville Althoff- I liked Christians video and I like his game even kore after seeing him in person. Built more like a defensive tackle but Wills also has very good quickness, hands and power. No question showed well here and has a lot of upside.
Soloman Smith DeLaSalle- just another big and strong kid here and is yet another defensive tackle body type. Shows good overall technique. good hands and has some power as well. Did well at times in one on ones yet still has work to do on his overall pass rush moves. No question a kid who could be say a 1AA type.
Thurgood Mendenhall St. Ignatius- yet another tackle/nose type. Good size with long arms. Plays low and also showed a pretty good first step. Hands looked good as well here. Will definitely get some 1AA/D2 looks this summer/fall.
Dylan Davalos Providence Catholic- only a sophomore, is a bigger thicker kid here physically. Played well in one on ones and is just a solid overall linemen. Saw some very good yoiunger Providence kids on Monday and add this name to the list.
Larry Washington Brother Rice- in the same class as the many other DT's here. Larry is just very polished is one on ones and hand fighting. Larry also has sneaky quickness and speed and I just like his overall game. Like several others here Larry will be a NG type and will no question draw say lower D1 1AA interest.
Joe Spivak Montini Catholic- just love this kid's game. Joe just brings passion on literally every snap and rep. Spivak plays hard, has great quickness and first step and is also strong as heck. Not sure where he winds up at the college level and his overall size will be an issue for the bigger level schools. However, if you want a non stop, passionate player who will give you everything on every play? This is your kid.
Malcolm Fox Phillips- Fox is a tweener positionally, worked out here as a DE and was dominant at times. I see him as more of a linebacker at the college level since Fox has great speed and quickness but also doesn't have the overall size/frame to play on the D line.
