This was the third and final North Central College satellite camp on Monday night which ended yet another successful run od camps at NCC in downtown Naperville. The camps are extremely well run and organized, they attract several Power 5 and lower level college coaches and these are just a really good chance and opportunity for players to be seen by several top decision makers.
Sadly, the overall turnout was down from the first two camps and the camp had several registered no shows....I point towards kids already being camped/burnt out along with several others summer factors. This is also not a one year issue for NCC and the very limited camp time frame which allows FBS schools to attend no question plays a major roll in keeping this numbers down for the third and final camp.
Despite the lower numbers the overall talent level here was pretty solid. Like in many other larger camps my main focus is looking harder at underclassmen names to watch along with getting to eyeball some various 2022 names who I haven't seen in person before so don't be surprised if some better known names aren't mentioned here. An example? Glenbard South 2022 DE Connor Murphy has been at literally every camp I've covered this summer, he's always a top performer at every camp so I'll list the names but won't get into a very in depth breakdown of him here. I'll do that for the kids who I haven't seen live etc. in this camp breakdown and look.
I'll also have a ton of video coming soon along with a photo gallery hopefully later today or tomorrow AM.
Who Stood Out?
Class of 2022
2 QB David Dorn Wheaton Academy
3 QB Jimmy Makuh Hersey
4 QB Aidan Pieper Nazareth Academy
6 QB Branden Deem Rockridge- Ive seen Deem one other time but this time around he caught my attention. Deem has decent size and strength, is pretty college ready physically and threw a consistently good ball here.
8 QB Nathan Hayes St. Charles East
16 DB Ben Wilson Warren Township
18 WR Dane Partridge Marmion Academy
41 LB Carson Eggebraten St. Viator
42 LB Drew Bartels Bartlett- Hadn't seen Drew in a while and he was good here overall. He's a solid ILB type who I feel has FCS/D2 level potential in my opinion.
45 TE TJ Reising Metamora-- Big and strong kid here with impressive size/length who also has room to add more weight and zie at the college level.
46 TE Devin Yeates Hampshire -
50 DE Trystan Anderson Buffalo Grove - Had a mid winter injury so I hadn't seen Trystan for a bit. Anderson had a very good overall camp, has added a bit more weight and size and can still get bigger and stronger. I feel Anderson is a higher level FCS name.
52 LB Michael Cardilli Lincoln Way East- Another name who had a strong camp showing un my oipinion.
64 OL Matthew Haan Chicago Christian
65 Joshua England Mt. Zion A longer and bigger kid (6-foot-5, 235 pounds) who will no question need to add much more weight and strength but he could become a nice developmental name to watch.
68 OL Josh Sears Libertyville
75 OL Alexander Knaperek Lincoln Way East- Strictly an inside guy only here but who showed well in one on ones. Has very good strength, punch and power.
81 WR Trey Johnson Lincoln Way East
83 WR Archie Cox Fremd
85 WR Max Reese Fenwick
86 TE Brady Tosterud Elk Grove- It's been a while since I saw Brady and he had a good showing here. Tosterud generally tested well, has really good length and reach and was strong overall in one on ones.
90 DE Eli Shereshovech IV Buffalo Grove- Always brings energy and also has a non stop motor. Needs to keep adding more moves and technique to his game but Eli has made quite a bit of improvement in his game.
92 DE Keith McCaslin St Charles East- Big standout name I saw for the first time here. Has really good frame, length and showed a good combination of quickness and power. Drew lots of looks from the various MAC/FCS schools here.
97 DE Jackson Funderburg Sycamore- See above. Seriously, Funderburg also had a strong camp and was battling all comers in one on ones. Funderburg's game and technique is a bit more advanced and also has a bit more weight and size than McCaslin and he also got lots of looms and attention from the MAC/FCS schools here.
99 DE Connor Murphy Glenbard South
Class of 2023
3 QB Elijah Owens Jacksonville
6 QB Ryan Dawson Downers Grove South
7 QB Gavin Dooley Minooka
8 QB Josh Holst Marengo- Had a very solid camp here and Josh is a big kid (6-foot-3, 170 pounds) who also ran and tested very well here. I can see schools looking at him as say a WR/S type but his QB skills and arm was also impressive here.
9 QB Anthony Picciolini Benet Academy
11 WR Luke Pettaway Waubonsie Valley Has very good speed and also showed some impressive quickness, change of direction and also good hands here. A name on the rose for sure.
33 DB Noah Taylor Lemont
41 LB Ross Dansdil Wheaton North- Bigger old school type of ILB who also has really good size (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) and I can sdee colleges looking at Ross as a DE/DT type as well as at ILB.
43 TE Pierce Walsh Benet Academy_ simply one of the top overall 2023 names at this camp. Has gotten bigger, stronger and his ball skills and hands are truly high level.
44 LB Jake Scianna Lincoln Way East0- Yet another old school ILB type here who has impressive strength and just a solid all around game.
49 LB John Weidenbach Benet Academy
39 DB Andrew Crews Simeon
60 OL Luke Griskey Huntley
63 Jackson Kerstin Naperville North- Has good frame and length but will need to add much more good weight and muscle down the line. A name to check in one say after the fall season.
67 OL Nate Compere Crystal Lake South - I've seen Nate a few separate times and he really had a strong showing here. Nate was much more aggressive here, took on all comers and was able to win more reps than I've seen in the past. His overall size/strength and technique is solid.
68 OL Jacob Welch Johnsburg
84 TE Jake Davies Yorkville- Big kid (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) who will get bigger and stronger down the line. Has the type of look/frame to maybe even draw attention at say OL?
89 WR Frank Covey Prospect
90 DE Andrew Laurich Yorkville
Class of 2024
62 Bodey McCaslin St. Charles East
89 WR Cam Williams Glenbard South Williams was simply the best overall player at this camp in my opinion. Williams has really good size (6-foot-2, 175 pounds) but he will also add more good weight and size down the line. Williams is a terrific and very fluid route runner, has really strong hands and he's already becoming a Power 5 level recruiting target.
92 DE Eddie Tuerk Lyons Township-- Yes....he's that good. Tuerk has seen his recruiting stock skyrocket over the past few weeks with good reasons. Tuerk is way advanced physically, already has an impressive mix of speed and power and his game will just get better from here on out.
