Kenwood 12 Lincoln-Way East 45... 4Q 9min! Im out

1st/Goal KW on LWE 10. Interesting that Kenwood isn't more of an uptempo team w/ all this individual skill talent.

2nd stop by KW defense (No Lightfoot, injured on offense). Yikes, a 70yd+ punt by LWE down to the 1yd line. Could be a game changer opportunity

Crisis averted, KW at own 30. Lots of quick quick throws early, now KW QB pushing ball down the down the field vs 1on1. End of 1Q at LWE 46, 1st down

4th & Long for KW. Bad snap on punt, LWE makes stop on KW 11. Special teams struggles. 1st down LWE. 1st play a LWE TD run.

LWE returns kickoff to KW 24. 4th/1 from KW 5, missed tackle in backfield = LWE rushing TD

4th &17 on KW 25, LWE defensive line pressure heating up on the KW OLine. Punt of 15yds then a penalty. 1st down LWE on LWE 45

4th/10, LWE punts. KW takes a knee to end half. Marquis Lightfoot is out this game w/ some sort of foot injury, the All American never played a defensive snap.

Feel bad for the kid. Better to take care of it now since it’s only the first game of the season.

It sounds like LWE is coaching has made adjustments and the Griffins are starting to roll. This can get ugly fast if Kenwood doesn’t buckle down on defense.
Yep. KW will have to pass, getting Windy + no real creativity in pass game.

An undisciplined defensive drive for Bronco thus far, 3 encroachment penalties (same offensive tactic). LWE driving, 1st down on KW 12. Defense holds to a FG

Nailed it McCaravan. Coaching showed up for LWE this second half. Disciplne. 37-6 PA to come.

Thanks for keeping us updated one the score. Final 52-12
I would love to hear your take on the game.
Slow start for LWE, but like champions they capitalized on two short fields, made in game adjustments on both sides of the ball. Good tune up for a test at Batavia next week. Kenwood feels like a 7on7 team, was surprised they didnt go fast on offense. definitely some things (special teams, man to man defense, QB poise, DLine discipline) to work on and must do so quickly as Rita coaches were there watching along w/ other CPS opponents. 1st game, not many teams can cover all those KW weapons in regular season. Hope things are fixed, LW can be a tough out in playoffs.

Even if Lightfoot played the whole game that wouldn’t have negated a 40 point swing, and then on the road with Rita for Hopkins first home game I’m guessing things won’t go much better, after that Morgan Park will be a very tough test, we will see how they do very the Caravan next week as their big test, and Simeon had talent but not what they had last year. Rest of their games will be running clocks. So 6-3 likely with 5-4 possible but they will be battle tested for the playoffs. Are they 6A?

Sounds like LWE started slowly (first game). Kenwood was fired up for this game, but East imposed its will on them. East will do that to a lot of teams. Kenwood should grow from this experience. You play tough teams to get better. I have said this many times but I will repeat. I love it when teams play each other for the first time. This game is no different. You’re right about next week for East, I am sure Zvonar will have the boys ready.

Stewart and Middleton maybe regretting that transfer after this one.
Yes, DJ lost Middleton. I believed their senior season together could've been special, and I wish Middleton nothing but the best.

Having typed that, though, I think SR and DJ will be very happy with Middleton's replacement. It's going to be a fun year with those two--and he's a Junior.

With the red/white uniforms, watching Kenwood on offense is like watching H-F on that side of the ball.
