My impressions of Vaughn Pemberton: I was able to see Vaughn Pemberton live twice in 2019 along with seeing him at various camps and team 7on7 events. Pemberton played running back in 2019 for the Ramblers and was an all conference and all area player for the Ramblers. Pemberton is also a dual sport athlete (football/basketball track) at Loyola Academy who is holding an early offer from Ball State and is drawing interest from several FBS and FCS schools this spring.
Evaluation of Vaughn Pemberton: Pemberton is an impressive athlete who brings quite a few things to the table from a recruit/recruiting standpoint. Pemberton has impressive physical tools, offers good strength and power along with having good overall speed and explosiveness. Pemberton ran with major power who's running style was to more to punish oncoming defenders than avoid contact. Pemberton also runs and possesses good vision, is a patient runner who can wait for his blocks to develop and knows how to explode into the hole once it's open.
Room for improvement? Pemberton is a tweener in my opinion positionally at the next level who I feel would have benefitted greatly from the recently cancelled spring evaluation period. Pemberton will need to improve his overall speed and explosiveness along with getting bigger and stronger for the next level.
Projected level: Rivals has Vaughn Pemberton as an unranked recruit in the Class of 2021.
My Early Thoughts of Vaughn Pemberton?
I really like Vaughn Pemberton on a lot of levels, yet just trying to determine where he fits in positionally at the college level. I feel Pemberton has the potential to play at say OLB/S but he could continue to play RB as well. Pemberton as I mention above I feel has lower to mid FBS level talent and he will also continue to get stronger and bigger over the next 12-24 months. I would start off Pemberton as a high two star ro low three star ranked recruit in the Class of 2021....but this is also a name that could also see his overall recruiting stock rise IF he's allowed to be seen and evaluated hopefully earlier this coming summer. In general...this is a very good high school player with some upside at the college level.
