Chicago (Ill.) Morgan Park (0-1) junior 4 star ranked wide receiver recruit Nasir Rankin (6-foot-1, 160 pounds) has continued to draw recruiting attention and offers from Power 4 programs from across the country. Rankin, who is also a sought after basketball recruit as well talks football recruiting and more in this latest update.

"I'm out at the football field right now running some routes and getting my work in," Rankin said. "I'll start playing AAU hoops in a few weeks but for now I'm just focusing on getting better and staying in football shape."

Rankin also filled us in on his latest football recruiting process these days.

"I know that I'm going to take some official visits in late spring and early summer. I haven't set up any official visits just yet but I'm getting closer to getting that done. I'm still looking into some schools and and I'm just trying to get a better feel for all of the schools and the coaches right now. I have an idea of a few schools I'll set up official visits with but I'm just not ready to name anyone just yet."

So what is Rankin looking for in a school to call home?

"I'm looking for a school that can take me to the next level along with a school where I can comer in and rearm early playing time. Getting early playing time is pretty important to me. Distance isn't really a factor to me so I'll travel anywhere as long as that school is a good fit for me. I'm pretty open to schools no matter where they are located and that is not an issue for me at all. I'm also looking for a school, that can develop me and a school that just gets me. I want to find a school where I feel like I fit in and show them my play making ability."

Rankin is also not counting out the idea of playing both football and basketball in college.

"A lot of the coaches I'm talking to have told me that they would allow me to play basketball for them as a walk on for that school . The recruiting for basketball has slowed down but a lot of that are basketball coaches just assuming I'm going to play football now in college. I'm still very open to playing both football and basketball in college."

For now Rankin will continue to juggle a few sports along with getting ready for his 2025 senior season at Morgan Park.

"I'm working these days on my overall spacing on routes along with just running better routes and just having better timing in my route running. I feel like I can score from anywhere on the field and I want to keep doing that next season for my team. The goal is to win a state title and everyone is working hard and staying focused on that main goal."

My Thoughts on Nasir Rankin and his recruiting? Rankin was pretty low key and I tried my best to get at least a few schools he plans to visit...but to his credit he didn't budge at all. I know he's been tied to Illinois pretty heavily and I have no reason to doubt that for now....but I do find it interesting that at least for now things are pretty quiet on the Nasir Rankin front. I see him announcing a Top schools list and/or an official visit list over the next few weeks then official visits to follow in late spring. Rankin's big play ability speed and overall game and physical tools are the real deal folks.
