Saint Francis vs Sterling

Ironic these teams met in week 2 and now they meet in round 2 of the playoffs. If Sterling does not implement the passing attack they have shown they are capable of, this game could get ugly trying to run the ball. If they try running the ball up the middle every down they won’t stand a chance, throw first, run second, Throw it up for Kaden Phillips a lot ! Quick short passes and the occasional long ball. Run second, not when it’s 3rd and 10 only, They will need to mix it up. Then and only then could the game be close if they execute. They are capable. Last time these teams met I think SF went easy on us. Hopefully it’s a good game, Nothing would surprise me, If sterling plays like they did against Princeton it could be a running clock for SF if they play like they did against Quicy we could have a game!
SF dudes,
Hope you enjoy the ride west and enjoy our atmosphere. Eat at Angelo’s!

1st round playoff records

First round playoff records of some of the historically successful programs. I apologize if my numbers are a little off, this was all off the top of my head.

Joliet Catholic 41-2
East St Louis 38-3
Mt Carmel 36-1
Geneseo 32-10
Morris 31-5
Loyola 28-4
Providence 28-10
SHG 27-5
Maine South 27-9
LWE 19-2
Prairie Ridge 15-4

Some pretty impressive first round numbers. Unfortunately, of this group, i think the team with the best chance of not getting out of round one this year is JCA.

ICE Playoffs Round 2

After going 3-0 last week, there's a good chance the ICE goes 0-3 this week  Probably why it's so quiet around here ... and for good reason. Peotone will host BYRON, Coal City goes to ROCHESTER and Wilmington travels to TRI-VALLEY. Obviously, Wilmington probably has the only chance to come away with a win, but it will be hard earned. The Cats are going to need every bit of their "A" game in order to advance. If they can pull it off, it could possibly set-up a rematch with Seneca 🤞. Peotone and Coal City are both staring down the barrel of two elite, premier programs in the state. At least the Coalers had the sense enough to schedule their game for Friday and get it over with 👍

ND21 DLS 20 2 OT

Two teams fought their hearts out. DLS gets stopped on their attempt for 2 in the second OT. Great game to watch. You’d be hard pressed to say this game didn’t matter to these kids on both teams. I don’t ever remember ND and DLS playing before but I hope we see them again. The Meteors are a class act. Go Dons!! My face is freezing.

IHSA Sold Playoff Rights to NFHS

I just learned this from an MC guy. To watch the playoffs, we'll have to pay the $12 or $13 fee, of course, but it's the dismal quality of the broadcast, not the the measly amount of money, that will have everyone flipping out at some point during the next three games. IHSA, NFHS, and the Ricketts family, which owns Marquee Sports, which owns NFHS, are incompetent and corrupt. These three corporate shysters care nothing about the experience of the fan, so prepare yourselves to be be confronted, right when the game is on the line, with the blue screen of death.

What happened to Curie?

They never quite broke out like Simeon, MP, Phillips, but for a while they were a wagon in the public league.
Under Jay McDonagh from 2012 - 2017 they played in multiple prep bowls, beat Argo, Bremen, Lyons, Gary Westside, Main East (not that any of those teams are dynasties but impressive volume for a CPS team). They lost to New Trier by a single point in the '14 playoffs and to Loyola by just a touchdown in the Prep bowl.

How did they collapse so badly? The school has ~3,000 kids. Not the best facilities, but at least a full-size practice field (unlike Phillips). They've won 4 games in the past 4 years.

In other news, anyone know where Jay McDonagh is now?

Where are IHSA proposed bylaw changes

Normally by this time IHSA posts the proposed bylaw amendments for sports on main page. This is because the legislative committee starts meeting soon thru November. I always look forward to these to see what schools propose what. And what changes could possibly be coming down the road.

This is where we saw those district proposals, the private/public stuff...

Does anyone know if they were posted or announced? They should be online by now.
