CPL Pick 'EM CPL Playoff Edition #2!

Hold on to your hats! (Seriously, it is supposed to be pretty windy on Saturday in Roscoe Village.) It is time for the CPL Semi-Finals! Two Games. One Venue. Of course the fine red coat security is going to make everyone leave the stadium between games, because...obviously, but nothing will keep us from getting down to the final teams next week- unless the bathrooms aren't working at Lane, in which case we are going to have to leave at some point... ON TO THE PICKS!

Phillips vs Kenwood 11:30am Lane
Word around the CPL is that the Kenwood coach is going to leave Kenwood and become the Simeon HC. The only thing I am going to become is happy when I hit up the Liberty Lounge to pregame on Saturday morning, and the Roscoe Village pub to postgame Saturday afternoon. Or will I do it in reverse? After all, the Liberty is closer and I might need a bathroom after holding it at Lane Stadium!
Phillips!

Simeon vs Whitney Young 4:30 Lane
Simeon had to get a score late in the 4th last year to beat Taft in the City Championship at Gately. I remember because the concession stand was out of Gately dogs, it was freezing, and I was starving and having an internal debate on whether to roll out to the car and get wings down the street at the Citgo to warm up. Bottom line, Simeon is used to playing football late in November, while WY is not. While Simeon has a tradition of football in November, I'm guessing WY kids are normally at the indoor tennis courts getting a few sets in, or at the same indoor club getting ready for rowing season. Not the same.
Blue and Gold!

BONUS IHSA PLAYOFF PICK!!
Morgan Park vs St. Francis 12:30 St. Francis

CPL vs CCL before the prep bowl! High school football fans across the state are in a fever pitch! The matchup everyone wants!
Mustangs!

What if both proposals pass?

I don’t think this one has been asked yet in the other threads but correct me if I’m wrong.

What does the district proposal look like if the private schools enrollment becomes the average enrollment of the neighboring larger public schools?

I don’t think either is a good idea, but if districts are seen as having a real possibility of passing due to the large of amount of south of I-80 schools favoring it, why wouldn’t those same schools also not vote for the new proposal replacing the multiplier?

2023 Red Grange All County Team is announced

This is somrhing I've been working on with the Red Grange Foundation for the last few years and this is the first All County team, (Dupage) and we will also have a banquet free for player and coach and families are invited to also attend and rickets are available for purchase

Public 106 Private 62

Since the IHSA went to 8 classes there have been 168 title games. The public schools have won 106 to 62 for the private schools. For all you math fans that’s 63% to 37%. So I’m confused as to the beef and why people want a split. Maybe I don’t understand because I have a soft spot for the privates. I went to Lutheran schools from kindergarten through high school. It could be that I don’t understand because I work and cheer for a very successful public school for the last 25 years. Maybe I’m the only one who is happy with how things are. I love 8 classes. The more football players that get to experience State the better in my book. IT IS AMAZING!! Carry on gents and have a great offseason!

Mercy Rule Etiquette

In yesterday’s contest, ESL took a knee to end the half at Normal West’s 1-yard line with a score of 54-0. ESL then starts the 2nd half with the JV squad while Normal West continued to play with their starters. Normal West took advantage to add 7 points on the board.

Not a big deal, or course, but just wondering if folks feel that this is proper or improper.

WSC Pick 'Em Playoff Week 2

Week 1 was a strong showing for the West Suburban Conference. Only one team ended their season - Downers Grove South.

This week has some very intriguing match-ups, and some relatively long trips for a couple of schools. Willowbrook will travel north of Rockford to take on Hononegah (I don't know if I pronounce that correctly in my head); and Glenbard West will head south to Edwardsville.

I see all but 1 of the WSC games as being very competitive, there is only 1 game (in my opinion) that can be the WSC game of the week - the rematch of LT vs. York. These two played in week 8, with York walking away with a 24 - 14 victory. I'm sure this Saturday in Western Springs will be even more electric than 3 weeks ago.

On a seperate but related observation - the Silver division is guarenteed at least 1 team in the quarterfinals.

Playoff Round 2
7A - Addison Trail (7-3) vs. Glenbard East (9-1)
7A - Downers Grove North (8-2) @ Hersey (10-0)
7A - Willowbrook (8-2) @ Hononegah (10-0)
8A - Glenbard West (8-2) @ Edwardsville (9-1)
8A - York (9-1) @ Lyons Township (7-3)

Power rankings/reseeding

While I gleaned some of the favorites in various classes (mostly from reading various threads), wondering if anyone that's a bit more in-tune (and has time on their hands) to some/all classes would want to use "power rankings" or re-seed each class 1-8. Just for fun, but would be interested in some thoughts on the various classes with the remaining teams.
