West Aurora senior to be WR Terrence Smith (6-foot-4, 190 pounds is a three star ranked receiver for the Blackhawks this coming season. Smith, who has set summer official visits to Iowa and Minnesota is a big, strong and lanky multi-sport athlete who has a chance to develop into a big time Power 4 caliber receiver.

Looking or a sleeper name to watch this fall for West Aurora? Keep an eye on junior QB Mason Atkins (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) who had a solid 2023 season and who has the makings of another potential D1 name from West Aurora.
EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 West Aurora Blackhawks
West Aurora and head coach Nate Eimer is looking forward to the 2024 season on a few different levels this summer. West Aurora made the Class 8A state playoff field in 2023 and finished the season with an opening round 35-14 playoff loss to Class 8A power in Edwardsville at Edwardsville> Nate Eimer is also welcoming back a stacked starting lineup for this coming season with basically the entire starting lineup on both sides of the football back for this fall. Eimer, who is entering his 14th season as head coach at West Aurora has posted a 54-66 overall record in 13 seasons and led the Blackhawks in 5 of those 13 seasons. The Blackhawks have left the Southwest Prairie West conference and is back home in the Upstate 8 conference starting this season, and the move could work out well for West Aurora after having very limited success in the Prairie.
The biggest question for West Aurora heading into 2024?
Can the Blackhawks play and compete at the top tier of the Upstate 8 conference right out of the gates? West Aurora as mentioned did not fare well leaving the Upstate 8 and going to the Southwest Prairie and is now back in the Upstate 8. The Upstate 8 has had limited success in the playoffs (South Elgin/Glenbard South/Glenbard South/Glenbard East) and the Blackhawks on paper look ready to compete here. Also getting out of the gates quickly no question will be huge for this West Aurora team in 2024 especially with early season showdowns at Glenbard East (Week 2) and at South Elgin (Week 4).
