West Aurora senior to be WR Terrence Smith (6-foot-4, 190 pounds is a three star ranked receiver for the Blackhawks this coming season. Smith, who has set summer official visits to Iowa and Minnesota is a big, strong and lanky multi-sport athlete who has a chance to develop into a big time Power 4 caliber receiver.

Looking or a sleeper name to watch this fall for West Aurora? Keep an eye on junior QB Mason Atkins (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) who had a solid 2023 season and who has the makings of another potential D1 name from West Aurora.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 West Aurora Blackhawks

West Aurora and head coach Nate Eimer is looking forward to the 2024 season on a few different levels this summer. West Aurora made the Class 8A state playoff field in 2023 and finished the season with an opening round 35-14 playoff loss to Class 8A power in Edwardsville at Edwardsville> Nate Eimer is also welcoming back a stacked starting lineup for this coming season with basically the entire starting lineup on both sides of the football back for this fall. Eimer, who is entering his 14th season as head coach at West Aurora has posted a 54-66 overall record in 13 seasons and led the Blackhawks in 5 of those 13 seasons. The Blackhawks have left the Southwest Prairie West conference and is back home in the Upstate 8 conference starting this season, and the move could work out well for West Aurora after having very limited success in the Prairie.

The biggest question for West Aurora heading into 2024?

Can the Blackhawks play and compete at the top tier of the Upstate 8 conference right out of the gates? West Aurora as mentioned did not fare well leaving the Upstate 8 and going to the Southwest Prairie and is now back in the Upstate 8. The Upstate 8 has had limited success in the playoffs (South Elgin/Glenbard South/Glenbard South/Glenbard East) and the Blackhawks on paper look ready to compete here. Also getting out of the gates quickly no question will be huge for this West Aurora team in 2024 especially with early season showdowns at Glenbard East (Week 2) and at South Elgin (Week 4).

Mondays (7 on 7 (June 17-24 + July 8+15) @ Limestone vs. Pekin, Richwoods, 2 more TBA

Saturday July 20 (7 on 7) @ Washington

Impact Player for Limestone Rockets

The Rockets will be looking to get a bigger contribution this fall from an incoming squad that had several kids see significant playing time last season as underclassmen. Limestone junior to be LB Bobby Edwards (6-foot-1, 210 pounds) is already an experienced varsity starter who will be asked to lead a Rockets defense that was just brutal in 2023. Edwards has a ton of upside and potential and will draw increased recruiting looks this summer and fall.

Alsop keep an eye on former Dunlap and now Limestone 2026 RB DeZon McCaston who has a chance to make an impact this fall for the Rockets offense.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Limestone Rockets

Limestone and second year head coach Jeff Schmider is looking to turn around the Rockets program this coming season after posting a 1-8 record inn 2023. The Rockets are looking to get back into the IHSA state playoff field for the first time since 2015 and this program has made the playoffs just twice (2015 and 2013) since 2004.

The biggest question for the Rockets in 2024?

Can Limestone reload at a few key positions (QB/WR/DL) and play much more competitive football this fall? All I know is that Limestone remains a very proud football community despite the recent downturn of the football program. I'm looking to see a much more competitive season in 2024 for the Rockets.

Preseason Ranking? None for now.

The Broncos will rely on several key two way starter ethis coming season and 2026 WR/S Kyrie Kyles is a n ame to watch this season for the Broncos. Look for Kyles to again be a key starter in all three phases of the game in 2024.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Walther Christian Academy Broncos

Walther Christian Academy first year head coach Brad Hytrek is looking to get this one time small school power bak towards it's glory days starting this fall. The Broncos posted an 0-8 record in 2023 which included 4 forfeits. The Broncos last made the IHSA state playoff field in 2008 and can hopefully reload on all levels and take some positive steps forward stsrting in 2024. With 15 returning starters back in 2024 (8 offense 7 defense) hopefully the Broncos can get some much needed wins this fall.

Preseason Ranking? None for now.

Impact Player for Antioch

Antioch senior RB/DB Martin Cohen is expected to carry a good amount of the offensive load for the Sequoits in it's power running game this fall. Cohen, an All State player in 2023 is also a talented defensive back and look for him to pretty much never leave the field this season.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Antioch Sequoits

Antioch and head coach Brian Glashagel is looking to get back into the IHSA state football playoffs field again this fall for the 7th straight season. The Sequoits in 2023 made the3 IHSA Class 5A state playoff field and defeated Englewood then lost to Carmel in second round action. The Sequoits have missed the state playoff field just 4 times under head coach Brian Glashagel (121-48 record in 17 seasons) and only twince in that period has Antioch posted a losing regular season record.

The biggest question for Antioch heading into 2024?

Can the Sequoits win the Northern Lake County Conference title again this fall and make a deeper post-season run in 2024? The Sequoits welcome back 11 starters from last season and this program continues to draw both strong overall numbers and talent year in and year out. While Antioch has some obvious holes to fill this summer (QB/WR/TE/DB) look for this team to again be in playoff talk and conference title contention.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 TF North Meteors

The Meteors are coming off a strong 2023 season under then first year head coach Anthony Pignatello which saw TFN first state playoff appearance since the 2011. season. The Meteors will no question need to reload this summer after graduating a very strong senior class and North welcomes back just 5 returning starters (2 offense 3 defense). More and more exciting news will be coming soon for TF North football over the next year which should allow the Meteors to better compete with it's opponents in a dfew different areas of importance.....more to follow soon.

The biggest question for TF North heading into 2024?

Can the Meteors reload this summer and post another state playoff qualifying record in 2024? Never say never and the excitement around the TF North football program is definitely strong this off season. The coaching staff at TF North will need to continue to build up the overall numbers program wide....and getting off to a quick start this season (starting with two very winnable non conference games) is paramount.

The Wolfpack program and roster always seems to have good talent and depth and the 2024 season starting lineup also has some nice names to watch this fall. St Ignatius senior QB Jack Wanzung has been running the Wolfpack power running/option game for the past handful of seasons to great success. Wanzung is just a hard nosed football player capable of playing more than a few different spots on the field at the college level.

Looking for a sleeper name to watch for St. Ignatius? St Ignatius senior LB Emmett Callahan is a leader on the defense for the Wolfpack. Callahan has a really nice combination of power, quickness and will go sideline to sideline to make tackles.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 St. Ignatius Wolfpack

You will be hard pressed to find a program in the CCL/ESCC that has made as many positive steps and improvements over the past decade than the Wolfpack. The Wolfpack has made the IHSA state playoff field in eight straight seasons and six straight under head coach Matt Miller while St Ignatius also continues to move up the CCL ladder and will play this fall in the ultra tough CCL/ESCC Blue.

The biggest question for St. Ignatius heading into 2024?

Can the Wolfpack survive the rugged regular season schedule including playing in the CCL Blue for the first time this fall. Getting to 5 wins could very well be the biggest test for this team and program this fall, but if this team can secure a state playoff spot they could very well possibly challenge to win a state title in 2024. Moving up from 6A to 8A in just a two year period is a huge test and challenge here....but this St Ignatius program has just continues to prove it belongs in the top tier.

The Lions have an experienced roster loaded with some key impact players in 2024. St Viator senior QB Cooper Kmet is an impressive signal caller who's an athletic playmaker and who's overall recruiting stock continues to climb this spring. Kmet has drawn several college coaches into school this spring and has a chance to play at the D1/FCS level in my opinion.

Looking for a sleeper name to watch for St. Viator? St Viator senior WR Dayvion Ellis is a speedy playmaker who has the skills and ability to become a game breaker for the Lions offense this fall.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 St. Viator Lions

St. Viator had coach Dave Archibald and the Lions have made back to back IHSA state playoff appearances in 2022 and 2023 and can this Lions squad make it a third straight playoff appearance in 2024? The Lions made the 2023 Class 4A state playoffs and lost to Wheaton Academy in second round action.

The biggest question for St, Viator heading into 2024?

Cant he Lions survive the always tough CCL/ESCC schedule and get back into the post-season this fall? The Lions will no question rely on a talented roster loaded with varsity experience this fall, especially on offense. If the Lions can get to 5 wins (not a gimme here whatsoever) they have a real chance to become a big time sleeper name to watch in the 5A/4A that will be playoff tested.

Morris junior WR Jack Wheeler (6-foot-5, 190 pounds) who is already verbally committed to Illinois in baseball is also drawing recruiting attention and interest in football as well. Wheeler has impressive size and length, runs well and catches the football consistently well. Look for Wheeler to have a big senior season this fall for Morris.

Looking for a sleeper name to watch for Morris? Morris sophomore to be OL Brogan Kjellesvik was a varsity starter as a freshman in 2023 and has been drawing steady football recruiting looks this spring.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Morris Football Team

Morris and head coach Alan Thorson is coming off a 11-1 season in 2023 as Morris made the Class 5A state playoff field, beat Tinley Park and SHG then lost to rival Joliet Catholic in the 5A quarterfinals. Alan Thorson has posted a 107-45 overall record in 14 seasons at Morris and has led Morris to the IHSA state title game in 2012 and 2017.

The biggest question for Morris heading into 2024?

Can Morris reload and not skip a beat at several key positions this summer? Morris will be looking for new faces to fill in key openings (QB/RB/OL/DB) and more often than not Morris always seems to find a way to reload year in and year out.

Impact Player for West Hancock

The Titans and head coach Coy Taylor has a solid and experienced core of starters back in the offensive skills group this summer. West Hancock senior WR/S Bryce Varner (5-foot-10, 155 pounds) is a sure handed receiver with very good overall speed and athletic ability.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 West Hancock Titans

West Hancock and second year head coach Coy Taylor is attempting to get the Titans to a winning season in 2024 for the first time since the 2018 season. The Titans have posted three straight 1-8 seasons and will lean on a returning offensive skills group that is nearly in tact from season ago. The same offense in 2023 was third in total points scored in the Lincoln Land conference for the Titans and if the defense and the line play can develop and add some depth this summer....West Hancock could be a possible sleeper type name to watch this fall.

Preseason Ranking? None for now.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Clifton Central Comets

Clifton Central and Hall of Fame head coach Brian Spooner is starting his 27th season in leading the football program. Spooner has a 189-91 record at Clifton Central in 26 seasons and has led the Comets to the IHSA state playoffs in 21 season. The Comets missed out on the state playoff field in 2023 with a 4-5 record and with a core of recruiting starters back in the fold (5 offense 7 defense) look for the Comets to make a push towards the IHSA state playoffs along with being in contention for the Vermillion Valley conference crown.

Impact Player for Prospect

Prospect under head coach Dan DeBoeuf has been fortunately to have strong quarterbacks in his tenure, and senior QB Jack Skoog will be a multi-year varsity starter this fall. Skoog has a very solid and accurate arm, has good size and is an athletic dual threat quarterback and a name to watch this fall no question.

Looking for a sleeper name to watch for the Knights? Prospect senior RB Noah Easter has also been a very productive and steady player for the Knights who looks primed to hve a big 2024 season.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Prospect Knights

Prospect has been a consistent winner since head coach Dan DeBoeuf took over the reins of the program back in 2018, and the Knights have made the IHSA state playoff field in every year since that 2018 season. The Knights in 2023 made the Class 7A state playoff field and lost to eventual Class 7A state champion Mount Carmel to end the season with an 8-3 record.

The biggest question for the Knights heading into 2024?

Can Prospect make the next few huge steps as a program, make a deep post-season run and win the Class 7A state championship anytime soon? In all honesty I'm not sure of the 2024 Knights are a state title team in 7A, a class that continues to remain pretty stacked at the too. However, this program has reloaded as well as anyone over the last several seasons and I can easily see Prospect making a run for the Mid Suburban East title and also a 7A state playoff bid. This program continues to be pointed up in my opinion.

The Stage: Who Stood Out Part 2

The Stage: Who Stood Out Part 1

215 DB Jayden McMiller Providenc3 Catholic 2027- Very young athlete here who showed some quick twitch. Fluid runner and strong athlete who just plays like an upperclassmen and made some really nice plays in one on ones. Name to watch for sure in the Class of 2027.

216 QB Matthew Lee Loyola Academy 2028- No question Lee is on his way to becoming an elite level quarterback in the Class of 2028. Lee has great size (6-foot-3, 187 pounds) and his overall technique, physical tools and knowledge of the position at this age is way off the charts. It's just a matter of time before this kid in a nationally sought after name.

221 DL Charlie Ploder Barrington 2026- Decent sized DE (6-foot-2, 240 pounds) who made some plays in one on ones and who looks versatile enough to play end or tackle when needed. Good motor her as well.

228 LB Joey Villa Glenbard South 2025- Joey impressed me earlier this month at the West Suburban Showcase and he also did well at The Stage. Villa has good height/length and the frame to allow him to add a bit more strength down the line. Ran/tested well here.

229 LB Luke Nelson Stevenson 2025 Multi-positional talent who is just a very solid overall athlete and football player here. I can see Nelson getting looks this summer at LB/S and his overall speed and strong testing numbers really caught my eye this time around on Nelson.

238 DT Jarve Bey Homewood Floosmoor 2025- Another camp regular who just shows up and more often than not shows out. Impressive interior DL who also has high level technique along with very strong hands and plays highly physical at all times. I project Bey as a FBS/Group of 5 level prospect.

244 QB Callahan Roper Marion 2026-Downstate QB who did some nice things here in positional work. Pointed out by the coaches for his hustle and adjusting to coaching quickly. Will be a two year starting QB in 2024 for the Wildcats.

247 WR DeAndre Coates Lincoln Way West 2025- Coats is already holding a handful of FBS/FCS offers. Has good size (6-foot-1, 187 pounds) and is just physically advanced. Made some nice plays in traffic and was also able to show good hands and body control.

254 DL Derrick Weems Amundsen 2025- Checked in at 6-foot-1, 292 pounds and showed his best in one on ones. Has very good strength and plays with a mean streak.

258 QB Nick Peipert Barrington 2025- I've been a big fan of Nick Peipert since last season. Peipert is another higher level talent who is part of a very good and a very deep QB class in Illinois in 2025. Peipert I projected earlier this year as a FBS/high FCS caliber quarterback and again in most any other year....he could have much bigger D1 attention. I can also see some higher D1 schools look at Peipert as a possible PWO route.

273 Nick Manzardo Naperville North 2025- Has really good hands and runs consistently good routes. Checked in at nearly 6-foot-1, 185 pounds and is in line for a big 2024 season. Very strong player and leader here.

274 DL Charles Wahtola DePaul Prep 2027- A young pup who still has a lot of growing left to do, but was impressive at times in positional work and one on ones.

275 DL Dylan Coe Mundelein 2025- Another name I had zero knowledge of before this camp. Has great size (6-foot-3, 260 pounds) and has the potential to develop into a nice sleeper name this spring and summer. One day camps will be BIG here.

279 DB Jermaine Erving Jr. Morgan Park 2025- The Morgan Park secondary really was impressive at this camp and Erving Jr. was part of that impressive group. Lots of speed and quickness here and Erving Jr. showed some quick twitch along with just possessing great closing speed and awareness.

281 WR Lincoln Ijams Oswego East 2026 I also saw Lincoln earlier this spring and liked what I saw from him. Ijams has the look and feel of a strong slot receiver type who has the overall speed and quickness to be a hard player to cover down in and down out.

283 WR Charlie Cruse Downers Grove North 2025 Big, strong kid who has added more good weight and strength this off season. Looks more and more to me like more of a safety/OLB.....but his receiver skills including his hands are also higher level. Big summer ahead for Cruse.

287 DB Amahri Tyler Morgan Park 2025 Once again another member of the Morgan Park secondary who was strong here and who also just made play after play and took as many reps as possible.

292 TE Gavin Mueller St Francis 2026- I raved about Gavin at the Naperville North West Suburban Showcase and he's quickly on his way to Power 4 Offer Town in my opinion. Mueller has the size and physical tools already (6-foot-5, 235 pounds) and just showed incredible hands and ball skills...not bad for a kid who's never plays a down of high school football so far. I project Mueller to become a Power 4 level recruit.

294 LB Jack Burzynski Barrington 2025 Great overall size/length at nearly 6-foot-4, 205 pounds and a kid who has the frame to add much more weight and strength down the line. Higher level colleges want to see a bit more in game film here, but Jack's ability and potential are much higher than he's currently drawing attention from in my opinion.

295 OL Luca Siamashvili Stevenson 2025 Big dude here who measured in at nearly 6-foot-6, 331 pounds and at times was really impressive in one on ones. Luca has good strength and greatly improved his overall pass pro, technique and overall fundamentals. While Luca still need to get his weight down a bit, I can also see schools keeping a bit quiet for now on this kid but then coming back to him later this fall. I feel Luca has FBS/FCS level talent and ability.

297 QB Jack Reilly St Francis 2025 Again St Francis has an epic QB battle on this summer and Jack Reilly is squarely in the hunt for the starting job. Reilly has a ton to offer including a strong and accurate arm, good overall size and strength and he's also fundamentally strong. Yet another really strong QB in the 2025 class who in most other years would already be holding offers.

305 DB Seth Valeri St Francis 2025 I've seen/evaluate Seth a few times now. Valeri is holding a handful of FBS/FCS offers and he's a higher level athlete with good size (6-foot-0, 180 pounds) and cover skills.

312 DL Robert Grant III Wheaton Academy 2025- Was just a pain in the butt to block in one on ones and who also just went hard here all night.

313 ATH Paris Johnson Bradley 2028- An eight grader who is heading to Bradley for high school....Johnosn is a name to watch here. Showed very good speed and quickness, already has some quick twitch and can play any number of positions down the line a bit.

315 DB Kendall Griffin Morgan Park 2026- One of several impressive kids from the Morgan Park secondary. Kendall has good size (5-foot-10, 197 pounds) who also runs well, was very strong in one on one coverage and was able to disrupt play after play.

317 WR Jordan McKinley Loyola Academy 2028- Another eight grader who listed Loyola as his HS. Measured in at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds and is physically way ahead of the curve at this early stage. His ball skills and potential is really, really impressive.

322 DB Quince Shearer Morgan Park 2025 Again the Mustangs secondary group including Quince just was impressive here and all had a nice showing.

332 QB Ethan Plumb St Charles North 2025- I just don't get it. Plumb in my eyes has it all. Great size (6-foot=3, 201 pounds), a strong and accurate arm along with a confidence and a maturity you look for in a high level quarterback. Some school is going to land a big time sleeper here in Ethan Plumb. I can also see Plumb as a candidate to go say the PWO route at the Power 4 level and find his way into a depth chart and an eventual scholarship.

335 WR Blaise LaVista Libertyville 2026- Overall just a very good receiver and football player who just keeps getting bigger, stronger and faster every time I see him. I would project LaVista right now as a FBS level prospect with the potential to develop into say a possible Power 4 name down the line.

Impact Player for Kankakee

Kankakee has had a loaded roster over the past few seasons and the talent parade isn't running dry anytime soon. Kankakee senior LB Kennyan Chandler (6-foot-1, 225 pounds) is a big time defender and impact player for the Kays this coming season. This is a rsiter filled with speed and athletes and look for multiple names to draw serious recruiting looks and attention this fall.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Kankakee Kays

Kankakee and head coach Miles Osei are looking to make another deep post-season run in 2024. The Kays in 2023 made the Class 6A state playoff field and lost to East St Louis in the quarterfinal round. The Kays will lean on an experienced team on both sides of the football with 18 returning starters (9 offense 9 defense) and the Kays have made the state playoffs in four straight seasons.

The biggest question for the Kays heading into 2024?

Can Kankakee keep rolling along in the post-season and eventually win a Class 6A state title this fall? Overall this is a Kankakee team that has a lot to offer and I can see this team making a deep post-season run....and just like in any class it will depends upon the playoff bracket along with catching a break here or there. Overall this is no question a team to watch in Class 6a in 2024.

Impact Player for McHenry

McHenry welcomes back a ton of returning starters for the 2024 season and I can see several names potentially emerge as leaders and impact players for the Warriors. I really liked the video from the 2023 of McHenry OLB Connor McLean (6-foot-0. 220 pounds). McLean plays defensive end and outside linebacker and sets the edge well for the Warriors defense, and McLean is also a very capable pass rusher and tackler.

Looking for a sleeper name to watch from McHenry? Keep an eye on sophomore TE Jonathon Wiseman who has the physical tools and makeup to play at ther college level.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 McHenry Warriors

McHenry has been a sleeping giant for many years now but for some reason they just have not been able to put things together to win games. The Warriors have made the IHSA state playoff field just once (2016) since the 2007 season and playing in the always rugged Fox Valley Conference also does not help. The Warriors and second year head coach Jeff Schroeder is looking to bounce back after a winless 2023 season . McHenry will rely heavily on a younger team in 2023 who bring back a ton of experience on both sides of the football.

The biggest question for the Warriors heading into 2024?

Can McHenry put it's recent past behind them, get out of the gates quickly in 2024 and hopefully build some winning momentum? Huntley and Cary Grove are two early road blocks for the Warriors.....but if this team stay the course and get past the Cary Grove game in one piece....who knows maybe the Warriors can get some wins put together?

Preseason Ranking? None yet

The Stage Who Stood Out? Part 1 0f 2

I am the host of this camp meaning I have multiple responsibilities including making sure the camp is running on time etc. This no question limits my ability to watch multiple kids per each group. I rely heavily on my position coaches for feedback in many cases so if your kid was at the camp and they don't get mentioned....more often than not I just did not get a chance to properly watch/evaluate them here.

103 TE Brady Goken Wheaton South 2025- Measured in at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds and Goken just does a lot well here including showing great hands, the ability to just attack the football and his overall strength is higher level.

111 QB Riley Contreras Hinsdale Central 2026- Steady Eddie here. Will have one more season to lead the Red Devils offense and from the looks of things starting here with Riley....2024 could be a very good year for Hinsdale Central. Between this event and the Silver DGN Showcase lots of nice talent on board for 2024 for the Red Devils.

112 QB Brady Palmer St Francis 2026- Has the overall tools, look and feel of a high level QB here. Palmer is in a dogfight for the starting position with 2025 Jack Reilly and winning this job will NOT be easy. However, it looks to me that Brady is getting closer to a big breakout season sooner rather than later.

114 QB Jackson Alcorn Burlington Central 2025- A very steady and impressive QB here. In most other years I can see some FCS schools drawing more interest in Jackson...who I feel has FCS/D2 ability. Yet the QB position in 2025 is stacked and will make open scholarship harder to find. This kid is very capable.

117 OL Michael Varon Fremd 2025- Came ready to play and just never backed off the gas peddle. A good sized (6-foot-2, 288 pounds) interior OL here who was very strong in one on ones as well.

118 RB Brody Gish Lincoln Way East 2025- Has really impressive speed and burst and I can see him getting carries in the Griffins RB rotation this fall. Just a junior here and also a name to watch as well. Ran/tested very well here.

123 DL Jake Buckley Kaneland 2026- Good sized kid (6-foot-2 1/2 255 pounds) who passes the eyeball test. Battled all day in one on ones and took a ton of reps as well. Looked pretty athletic and fluid in testing and positional work.

127 OL Myles Batesky Libertyville 2026- Measured in at 6-foot-3, 271 pounds and he has the frame to get much stronger and bigger over the next few years. Was very solid in one on ones, has good hands/feet and is an athletic big man with some definite upside as well.

128 OL Paul Wyman Hononegah 2027- Young guy who has some ability and also the look of a kid who will get much bigger and stronger.

146 DL Tyler Fortis Maine South 2025- Tyler is a camp veteran who's overall game, maturity level and approach has greatly improved over the past few years. Fortis has an abundance of pass rush moves, impressive technique and a non stop motor. I can see Fortis being an eventual swing DL capable to playing anywhere needed on the defensive line.

147 QB Patrick Heneghan New Trier 2025- Has a bit more speed and quickness than I expected and Patrick tested really well here. Heneghan throws a good ball, has very good touch and feel and I can see him developing into a big time D2/high D3 level signal caller down the line.

150 ATH Calvin Kohl Bradley 2026- Great to have one of the Kohl's from Bradley in camp, a family that has generated a ton of impressive players over the last handful of seasons. Calvin is a multi-positional player who tested well here, has good size (6-foot-0, 205 pounds) who I can see developing into say S/WR/OLB down the line for the Boilermakers.

157 DE Joey Quinn Mount Carmel 2026 Has a real chance at developing into a Power 4 level recruit sooner rather than later. Has impressive size and length (6-foot-5, 240 pounds) and a frame that will allow him to carry much more good weight and strength. Needs to get qa bit more loose and fluid, but his overall upside is huge. MC might have the top DE tandem in 2024 both from the Class of 2026 in Quinn and Braeden Jones.

166 DE Saif Kokoszka Glenbard South 2025- High energy kid who wants to play college football about as much as any kid in this class. Physically, Saif is starting to fill out and add much more good weight and size. Summer one day camps will be huge for Saif and his recruiting process.

168 LB Niko Griggs Chicago Christian 2025- Great sized kid here (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) who is also a bit of an unknown for now. Ran and tested well here and Niko just has the look of a player with more physical upside left. Yet another name here that can greatly benefit in pads this summer at various college one day camps.

186 RB Amare Williams Wheaton South 2026- An impressive all around athlete with good size (6-foot-0, 173 pounds) who showed very well in both the testing phase along with positional work. Very interested to see his early 2024 season video for sure and a name to watch here.

189 LB Caleb Baczek Libertyville 2025- Libertyville has some talent back in 2024 including Caleb. Baczek looked the part and passes the eyeball test. Baczek also tested well, showed good speed and just made some nice plays in one on ones and positional work. No question a name to keep an eye on this summer here.

196 DL Reginald Milligan Plainfield East 2025 - Caught the eye of the positional coaches at this camp for his motor and eyeball passing physical tools. Milligan made some nice plays in one on ones and has a chance to draw more attention this spring and summer.

Mahomet Seymour welcomes back quite a few returning starters on both sides of the football this fall, including it's entire starting offense from a season ago. Mahomet Seymour senior to be WR Trey Peters is a big and athletic pass catcher who is drawing more and more recruiting looks and attention this spring. Peters, who is holding a handful of FCS level scholarship offers will have a good chance of boosting his overall recruiting stock this spring and early summer.

Looking for a sleeper name to watch from Mahomet Seymour? Keep an eye on the left side of the Bulldogs offensive line in senior to be in LT Kolton Metcalf-Poulos (6-foot-5, 270 pounds) and junior OG Oliver Smith (6-foot-4, 265 pounds).

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Mahomet Seymour Bulldogs

Mahomet Seymour is coming off a 7-3 season in 2023, in a year where the Bulldogs had a terrific run for 7 weeks. The Bulldogs lost back to back games in Week 9 (Quincy) and then in Round 1 of the 5A state playoff field to Troy (20-19) to end the season on a downer. Look for the 2024 Bulldogs to bounce back right away in 2024 and will lean on an experienced and talented offense with all 11 starters back in the fold.

Longtime Mahomet Seymour head coach Frank Dutton (1971 to 1991) passed away recently. The football field is named after him and this season will be a commemorative dedication to him.

The biggest question for the Bulldogs heading into 2024?

Can Mahomet Seymour build up more needed overall numbers and depth to make a deep playoff run in 2024? Also can the Bulldogs get out of the gates quickly then maintain that momentum deep into the IHSA playoff field? While the Bulldogs offense will get all the props this preseason, the defense also welcomes back 6 returning starters and should also be a strength in 2034. Reloading on the defensive line is the top priority for the Bulldogs this summer.

Impact Player for Forreston

Forreston and head coach Keynon Janicke welcomes back a veteran team in 2024 especially on the defensive side of the football with 8 senior starters back in the fold. Forreston senior LB Evan Boettner was named an honorable mention All conference performer in 2023 and will be asked to again provide leadership and production in leading the Cardinals defense this fall.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Forreston Cardinals

Forreston is coming off an 8-3 record in 2023 as the Cardinal posted a 6-2 record in the rugged NUIC. The Cardinals made the Class 1A state playoff field, defeated Ottawa Marquette and then lost to conference rival Lena Winslow in second round action to end the season. I look for the Cardinals to again be at the top of the NUIC (arguably the toughest top to bottom conference in the state?) and to again have a good chance at getting into and making a run in the Class 1A state playoff field in 2024.
