MMXXIV Edition - CCL-ESCC Predictions Week II

The overall winner this season will receive a brand new 16” Clincher signed by St. Rita Head Coach Martin Hopkins and Mt. Carmel Head Coach Jordan Lynch.

Now obviously both men are excellent leaders of their respective alma mater programs and are men with the utmost integrity. So when I ask them to sign the Clincher pre-game, I can’t tell them it’s going to the CCL/ESCC pick em winner because both men may then just call me a moron.

So wish me luck. Friday night, I may get the greatest trophy this contest has ever seen or I may miss the game as security tosses me onto Western Ave. The glory is in the attempt.

MMXXIV Edition - CCL-ESCC Predictions Week II

CCL/ESCC (Blue)

Brother Rice 31 (+5) Marist 27:
GOTW!!! It should be an absolute classic as well. I don't know why, but I'm quite bullish on BR this year. I'm also a buffoon so take that for what it's worth!

Mount Carmel 38 Saint Rita 17 (+21): It's a bit sad that this rivalry doesn't have that evenness that it had not too long ago. The Caravan being 0-1 really doesn't help the Ponies chances either.

Fenwick 27 (+23) Saint Ignatius 25: My upset special of the week! There's something to be said when a team has a game breaking DE.

Loyola 42 @ GW 17 (+27): Loyola gets back on track and Glenbard West gets put in a position it hasn't been in a very, very long time.

CCL/ESCC (Green)

ICP 70 (-62) Chicago Military 0:
Lousy scheduling by ICP. There are a lot of schools in their area that they can get the W while playing up a bunch of classes.

Nazareth 49 Kenwood 13 (+39): Uh oh...Naz is 2-0

Saint Francis 49 Lift for Life Academy, MO 6

CCL/ESCC (Orange)

Joliet Catholic 45 (-17) Oswego 17:
The Machine will hum

Lincoln Way Central 31 (LWC +3) Providence 24: I'm just going off performances last week.

Notre Dame 17 (-1) Sterling 7: ND better collect W's quickly. Their schedule is not conducive for success

CCL/ESCC (Purple)

Saint Viator 42 Hyde Park 0 (+45)
: The ole running of the clock

DePaul 34 Marian of the Sticks 31 (+8): DePaul in a playoff game in week 2. They have absolutely no wiggle room

Saint Patrick 33 Larkin 13 (+28): Good on the Shamrocks scheduling an 8A school. Even better that it's a game they should win.

Benet 37 Moline 24 (+18): The Red Wings get revenge for losing to Moline in the State Basketball Championship 2 years ago!

CCL/ESCC (Red)

Marmion 48 (-43) Noble Academy 0:
This is sad scheduling. Be better Marmion!

De La Salle 47 Foreman 0 (+62): De La Salle football is in a very concerning position.

Amundsen 27 Leo 18 (-14): Amundsen is a respectable CPL program.

Homewood Flossmoor 44 (-18) @ Marian of the Heights 14: Good on Heights having the balls to schedule this game considering the path to 5 for them is quite tough. Much respect!

CCL/ESCC (White)

Saint Laurence 38 Evanston 28 (+17):
Evanston being so average at best at football will never make sense to me

Montini 36 Hillcrest 6 (+33): Hillcrest is no longer the threat they were not too long ago

Carmel 49 (-34) Lake Forest 10: The have's vs the have's! The Corsairs WORK the Scouts
Buffoon, on the MC/SR game, you have the score as a push and the spread by St. Rita. Where you put your spread is your pick I assume as it corresponds with your predicted score 99% of time except per the example above.

Then there may be a time when you don’t place a spread by a team ie WSF vs Lol MO. game but your predicted score tells me you pick WSF to cover.

Not bustin chops, your write ups and score predictions are gold but just asking beforehand for clarity to make my Sunday count easier and more accurate.

Thanks Mr. Buffoon

What brings you here?

You probably were on the team but didn't win a state championship. That's okay. You must have gotten the cheerleaders if not the trophy.

I hated being so skinny back then. If I had it to do over again, I'd quit smoking and take up track. I don't know about other schools, but in the '60s MC let us smoke in the cafeteria.

HOT CPL Thursday Action Week 2

Yet according to the IHSA website all these teams are co-oped this season. Must have called a gang truce:

Chicago (Bowen) [Coop]
Chicago (Clark) [Coop]
Chicago (Chicago Academy) [Coop]
Chicago (Collins) [Coop]
Chicago (Corliss) [Coop]
Chicago (DuSable) [Coop]
Chicago (Marshall) [Coop]
Chicago (Perspectives/Leadership) [Coop]
Chicago (Urban Prep/Bronzeville) [Coop]
Coach Perry himself told me so.

MMXXIV Edition - CCL-ESCC Predictions Week II

Find myself a week in the hole after neglecting to get my picks in last week. Comeback starts now.

Brother Rice +5 vs Marist. BR demolished a usually solid CPS squad. Marist had a closer game vs another usually solid CPS squad. And it is at BR. Crusaders win this one by a FG.

MC -21 vs Rita. Caravan at 0-1 means a pissed off Caravan team. Think they win this one by 4+ TDs at home.

Fenwick +22 vs Iggy. Ignatius has a very narrow window to make the playoffs. Life in the Blue. This is a must-win for them and they will get the job done, but it will be close.

GW +27 vs Loyola. Ramblers win by 2-3 TDs. Can't see them covering such a big spread on a Saturday afternoon in Glen Ellyn.

IC -62 vs Bronzeville. Why?

Kenwood +39 vs Naz. The Broncos put up a nice fight vs WSF last week. Can't see the Roadrunners covering such a big spread.

"Lift for Life" +39 vs WSF. I imagine this opponent will be one of the strongest schools you can face. They quite literally life weights to survive, per their name.

Oswego +17 vs JCA. Oswego looked good last week vs Nequa. Think they keep this one close at home!

Providence -3 vs LWC. Love the Celtics challenging themselves in non-conf. Tough loss vs Wheaton North last week. They need this one though. I think they get it done by a TD.

ND -1 vs Sterling. Wonder how this match was made. Really disappointed I am unable to make it out to legendary Sterling High School for a Friday night game. I think the score prediction is pretty close to spot-on here. Low-scoring, hard-hitting.

Viator -45 vs Hyde Park. Viator schedules non-con like their namesake in Wizard of Oz.

MCC +8 vs DePaul. Long trip on a Friday night for the Rams. And weird things happen out in the Sticks.

Pats -28 vs Larkin. Shamrocks are much improved from last year. And they have a fantastic kicker. Tough road to 5 wins for them, but they'll get #1 this weekend. Any Shamrock fans know why they are opening with four road games?

Moline +18 vs Benet. Spread too big.

Marmion -43 vs Noble. Yawn.

Foreman +62 vs DLS. Yawwwwwwn.

Leo +14 vs Amundsen. A CCL team being a 14 point dog vs a mediocre CPS squad. Interesting...

HF -18 vs Marian. I like the Spartans this year. I don't like the Spartans this week.

Evanston +17 vs Larry. Another interesting matchup. Think it's a 1-2 TD win for Larry on the road.

Montini -33 vs Hillcrest. No other thoughts.

CoM -34 vs Lake Forest. Corsairs are a state title contender this year. They get it done in their home opener.
Funny and sad story at the same time. When I went to post the totals for the week, in my thread reply section was the word ‘Where’s’ and that was all. It was the start of my post where I was going post on Friday morning of last week to see where our defending champ was. Glad you’re back. Going the dramatic route this season! Bold strategy Cotton!

What did we learn week 1!?!?

That it only took one week and a W for you to still throw a dig at LT
They are one of the largest public schools in the state yet they never have been to even a semifinal in the playoff era. GW, DGN, HC and York have all had runs. Some in multiple eras yet the Lions have underachieved for decades. Maybe this will be the year. The loudest support of LT says it is ever year and that GW is done.

What brings you here?

I heard about Edgy's board back when I frequented a different (and long defunct) board back in the late 90s. I'm pretty sure I started posting in 1997 or 98.

I joined because I enjoy high school sports in general, and football in particular. I would rather watch a high school game of pretty much any sport at any level than to watch the pros play. I have worked at four different private high schools, although I have been out of that part of my career path for almost 20 years.

I played football at my Catholic grammar school. I was relatively athletic, but too small then to make any real waves in the sport. My ectomorph body type was much more suited to soccer, which I played in high school and college.

I was pretty ectomorphic myself. I weighed a buck and a quarter in high school and not much more than that now.

What's with all you little guys? :)

I was 5'11" 220 going into the 6th grade at St Patrick's Joliet.

But as luck would have it, I was only 6'0" 230 by the time I graduated from Joliet Catholic.

Feetos Friday Upset Special.....

IDC if they return 11 starters on both sides of the ball ... if they beat Morris, it's an UPSET
I would say if JW won it would be one of there biggest wins in a long time.
They would tear down the goalposts 💪😂

I will also take Joliet West over Morris. :)

St Rita streaming update?

Rocky - any insights, here?
I would assume with with the poster’s handle, could be trolling. Audio wasn’t the problem relayed to me. If @PhilsBurner is correct though, as long as the scoreboard is in the bottom left of the screen, then you will be able to follow down and distance and time, quarter and score and having no audio would not be the biggest problem. But there will be a stream and @McCaravan ’s link is correct. And I have not heard Phil’s information he may have received regarding the stream. All systems go from my conversations.
