Monticello 23-20 final

Please tell me someone else saw this
I randomly started watching it because some other games were just getting over, I tuned in right when Monticello was driving with 3 min left in the game, I was amazed with their QB throwing darts all the way down field to score with 6 seconds left. Then the ending was unreal with the one second left Hail Mary touchdown by Unity, then called back on penalty and game over! Monticello deserved to win that game with that drive they had and kept getting penalties moved back but still moved forward. To score, great passes by quarterback truly impressed with him.

What are the fouls listed in 3-3-4b?

Also, do we know if the IHSA abides by all NFHS rules?
3-3-4b

1. Unsportsmanlike fouls
2. Non-player fouls
3. Fouls that specify loss of downs
4. Fouls that are enforced on subsequent kickoff
5. Fouls for which enforcement, by rule, result in a safety

And YES the IHSA follows NFHS rules

Yeah I'm avoiding this thread. But I will say this.

I was watching the LWC vs Batavia game. Right before half time, Batavia scored making the score LWC 14 Bat 12. So naturally Batavia went for the 2 pt conversion. Batavia made a great pass that was caught by a the receiver for 2 pts.

I was sure it was good
the announcers were sure it was good
the crowd was sure it was good

The Ref called, no catch. O-O

You see, the thing is, Batavia has Instant replay and showed it several times.

I'll give you 3 guesses who was right, but you're only going to need one.

Stripes were all over that call in fast motion. :)
A nice feel good story to “soften” what the average eye couldn’t see aye?!

Yes it used to be just rock music which is what I like. I dont know if they do this because the kids of this generation like it??
There was some rock music, and some “themed” music based on situations, but there was a bunch of house/techo stuff that was a little odd. It was fine though. I thought it was a really good overall HS atmosphere.

I’d have rather it been down in Wilmo though 😉

Not according to this NFHS rule.

NFHS Rule 3-3-3:

A period must be extended by an untimed down if, during the last timed down of the period, one of the following occurred:

a. There was a foul by either team and the penalty is accepted, except for those fouls listed in 3-3-4b.

Game cannot end on a defensive penalty, but it can end on an offensive penalty. The penalty was accepted, but there was no time on the clock.
In theory, the defense could commit a penalty such as pass interference on the last play of the game just to end the game and get the win, which is why it can't end on defensive penalty.

The offense, however, should not be rewarded with an additional play should they commit a penalty.

It's the same across all levels of football.

Very impressive pregame festivities.
I’m a fan of night games, but for a daylight game this was great. The team was led out by the horse and rider. There was an impressive fireworks display (for daylight). And then a flyover during the climax of the national anthem. Outstanding job.
My only (minor) gripe was the music. It was like going back in time 20 years and I didn’t have my glow sticks

Montini Athletics on Facebook is showing pictures of Montini having a flyover for the National Anthem. I got there late. They did have a Bronco lead the team out onto the field and fireworks at the end of the game.
