I am a CG fan (nephew played on earlier championship team) but I just enjoyed 21/23 games/teams for the pure awesomeness of the 2 schools & programs- the best of the best! So when I saw the statement about penalties- peaked my curiosity- went to IHSA state game website and look at stats (pretty cool if you are a stat geek) 2021 6A game penalty break down ESL 9 for 76 yds (most holding/motion) -heavy in 4th qt. CG 2 for 23 yds. 2023 Game ESL 7 for 46yds (mostly blocking/motion) CG 2 for 20yds. So would conclude in 2021 penalties (esp. last drive of game) most likely really did cost ESL the game. Not looking to stir pot- REALLY hope to see them back again this year slugging at out and NO PENALTIES for either side and the best team wins! Cheers!

Penalties did not cost the Flyers either game as they sometimes have more than that. Mistakes along with a good running game by CG

Lieb and the Farmer are rooting for Marquette now. Lot's of Marquette flags ... just let them play.

Starters are now bringing water to the field for their back ups. Led by Dowell, of course. What a great kid.

Announcers lamenting an ACHS interception.

Jacquot with the run!!!! Goes for 15 - his grandpa, Tom Calhoun, who is on the PA and does PA for the Blues, was noticably excited. Little Ace gets it again - first down!!!!

Back to Jacquot - close to a first down after some bad snaps.

Minooka Jurys Out? or Force to be reckoned with?

Plainfield North, Yorkville, the Brook, and Oswego East will be decent tests too. At least better than their current 4 games on the schedule. If they are for real though, they should be able to handle those four schools and stay somewhat competitive with Oswego.

If they want to take that next step, this is a program that should be seeking out really difficult week 1 and 2 games.

Thank you!! That is what I thought I live district and want to see them do well. Hopefully they finish strong I bet they figured Neaqua would be better.

Years ago they would play Morris Or Providence early in the season I wish they would go back to that !!!

Both games ended with an interception on the last drive. No TD’s were called back. The only two drives that ESL didn’t score were right before half and the int to end the game. Holding penalties had absolutely nothing to do with losing the game.

Minooka Jurys Out? or Force to be reckoned with?

How would you assess them in the 2nd half of the season I was at first impressed by the Neaqua Valley win but they sit at 0-4.

Won't know much of anything until they play their competitive teams this season. Oswego will be the barometer. Oswego handled Neuqua much more handily than Minooka was able. If they can stay competitive with Oswego, then perhaps they can contend with some of the best in 8A.

Definitely one of the best small school coaches in the state of Illinois. Keeping a small town program relevant for as long as LeRoy has been relevant is tough. Small pool of players and you play what you got. May not have a ton of trophies, may not have a decades long playoff streak, but this program was extremely good before Tri Valley started their own program.
