MC/ LA on WCIU and Youtube

It should be a classic and you will see more viewers tuning in than have been for years. I am very excited to see this and the playoffs ended exactly how I wanted them to. I wanted to see the Yankees and Dodgers in the WS and here we are. Two great organizations going at it for the 12th time. They have met more that any two teams and the Yankees have won eight of the eleven meeting so far.

Lots of interesting things about the series. The two best players in their leagues and in the game will meet each other on this stage. It is the first time in my lifetime that the two guys who led their league in homeruns will meet in the WS of that season. Aaron Judge hit 58 long balls for the Yankees while hitting .322. And Shohei Ohtani hit 54 homeruns for the Dodgers and hit .310.

The last time the homerun leaders in each league met in the WS was in 1956 and coincidentally, it was the Dodgers against the Yankees. Mickey Mantle hit 52 for the Yankees and Duke Snyder hit 43 for the Dodgers...who played in Brooklyn at the time. The last time these two teams met was in 1981 when LA won the series in six games. I don't doubt Fernando Valenzuela will be looking down on this after recently passing. He was a rookie on that 1981 Dodger team and won the Cy Young award along with the Rookie of the Year. So much history and I love tradition.

I hope the series goes seven games and of course I hope the Yankees win their 28th world title to go with those 40 pennants. I know I am in the minority but I don't care.
It is going to definitely be fun to watch this classic series. Both teams are stacked. Love the job Manager Dave Roberts has done this year.

I hate that it doesn't start until Friday. MLB needs to figure out how to alleviate the long wait.
I have no dog in this WS but Mookie is one of my favorite players, so I will go Dodgers.
I don't like the idea either and I am sure guys who are swinging hot bats don't like it as well. I remember back when the playoffs could go as far as Sunday and the World Series started on Tuesday. There is no reason to wait this long. It would make more sense and does for football.

I can't help but ask. Do you think guys like Michael Kopech and Carlos Rodon wish they were still with the White Sox? 😄 😄 😄

6 HUGE games in the CCL

At home? Against Loyola? Elliott will play. He has too much competitive spirit for him not to play, especially against a quarterback who beat him last year, and who is in contention with him for POY. And with all respect to Rice and Rita, this matchup has lately emerged as the premier rivalry in the Blue.

Even if Elliott doesn't run, I can see him throwing those beautiful bombs, those perfect parabolas, to any one of his capable receivers.

Kudos to the Marian Catholic Spartans

PC should - best case - finish with (46) playoff points. If they get the W vs. JCA, subtract (1), which means they’re a lock for the playoffs.

Not enough, IMO, IF they finish 4-5 w/(45).

Gonna need (49)/(50) playoff points and a strong tie-breaker total (combined wins of defeated opponents), somewhere in the range of (15)/(16).
Thanks for clarifying.

So if that all checks out, it is likely win or go home for the Celtics.

A little different than the SF/Naz scenario last year when SF won but Naz wasn't quite eliminated.

If the PLAYOFFS started today.... (Week 9)

After seeing what they were before going to the SPC, what they were in the SPC and what they are now doing once again to the upstate 8, as well as, how dominant teams from the UEC have fared in the playoffs over recent years they are going to have to prove it to me before I give them that type of respect.
They are the city of Aurora’s only chance at a playoff win. Hope they get a couple.

What a brutal year for Aurora HS football.

Kudos to the Marian Catholic Spartans

This could have a big impact on Marian Catholic’s opponents playoff points totals (for both bubble teams and seeding), taking the forfeit W to instead tussle with Rochelle. A (1) point swing could be significant.

Lots of respect for the Spartans, however, for scheduling a tough opponent!
Providence with a win Friday is in. But if they lose, that potential one playoff point could make a difference for them.

They are a 4/5 win team with a number of playoff points that will probably be real close to the bubble if they only have 4 wins.

Kudos to the Marian Catholic Spartans

Kudos to Marian Catholic.

They are having another losing season (their 13th in the last 14). They could have called it quits after getting spanked last week by Providence, not played in week 9, taken their forfeit win against DLS, and finished at 3-6. Instead, they are chartering busses and going over 100 miles after school on Friday to play an 8-1 Rochelle squad that has been knocking the snot out of its last four opponents since dropping their lone loss of the season to 9-0 Sycamore.
That’s the Marian Catholic I know & love. Fun Fact: For many years Marian address was 666 Ashland Avenue!!!! Funny for a Catholic School
