CCL Frosh Soph Scores

The old CMC had a ban on freshmen playing varsity in regular season games through the late 90s and early 00s. But that only applied to freshmen.
My sophomore year MC had Charles Frazier play on the soph team all season and then he played varsity during the playoffs. He was a beast on the sophomore team and in the State Championship game against MS that year I fully expected him to return the final kickoff for a TD and win the game. He was that good of a RB and football player at just 15.

Eville at East Side (Video Recap)

Kinda sad that Kaneland isn’t very Kaneland this year. At the start of the season, this looked like it would be an awesome game. Now, not so much.
Actually, Kaneland has proudly exceeded expectations this year, especially for those close to the program. They lost their entire offense from last year to graduation and basketball, including a 4-year starter at quarterback and a stable full of really nice wide receivers. The win at Washington in week 1 was a huge surprise and being playoff eligible before week 9 with an inexperienced team is already a success given what people thought the season would be. Tomorrow is a tough test and the Knights are excited to play a great team.

MMXXIV Edition - CCL-ESCC Predictions Week IX

The conference didn't put them in the blue, they put themselves in the blue with their success over the past few years and beating MC hurt them in the long run. Enrollment numbers went up, football participation numbers went up and they have been successful. This is how teams move around in the conference. The conference doesn't just pull teams out of a hat and throw them into divisions.
All that and I still don’t know the price of tea in China. What I do know is Marist, St. Ignatius, Fenwick and Immaculate Conception were misplaced. Maybe they should try a hat.

Feeto's Friday Upset Special.....

I legit think the Flyers have a good chance to win. It will be 65 and clear skies at the kickoff - so weather is not an issue.

I think ESL takes a page from Cary Grove and shortens the game with their two backs - pound and pound and pound. This year's D is the best it has been in years - old-time East Side. The home crowd, fireworks in the parking lot and the advantage the House of Pain brings to the table.

ESL will be up for this game like no other this year. This is the Super Bowl for them. IMG may look at the last film and look past them. Thre is not much else good film for IMG to watch - ALL of IMG's games are ready for review. IMG has not dominated as it has in the past and their schedule is not as tough.

Flyers soar!
I'd love to see it. Good pick.
This would be great. Good luck to the Flyers and stay healthy.

Have their enrollment number gone up? They have always had high enrollment, probably one of the largest enrollments in the CCL. But now they are subject to the multiplier so they are 8A instead of 6A. I am sure that played a factor into them being in the blue as well.

CCL Frosh Soph Scores

When did this change? I thought underclassmen couldn’t play on Varsity in the Catholic League or at least in games vs other Catholic League teams. In fact I recall years ago Gordon Tech I believe was killing Leo in the Prep Bowl playoffs. They wanted to let underclassmen play in the blowout & got an ok from Leo. Next thing they knew they next day they had to forfeit & were pissed off beyond belief
Idk when it changed. But my son is a sophmore starter in varsity . And we have a freshman also.

Feeto's Friday Upset Special.....

I don't think Naz cares about conference championships. State title or bust for this group. I honestly think SF is better than people and spreads think. I think this is a rivalry game and they don’t like us and I think it’s the first of two matchups this year. Rather lose this one and win the second one.
It wouldn't shock me if SF won but I don't think that is very likely. SF has not had starting RB since Loyola and that has hurt even though sophmore RB is good. Yes, I know injuries happen to every team.
I'll take the points, but Naz wins the game.

The Hangover Movie reference… Now I’ve been the hardest on the Wolfpack this year but that’s only because of where the conference put them. I think they match up well vs Brother Rice and will cover.

The Good old Allman Brothers Boys Band’s hit song reference The Ramblin’ Men stay within a score vs the Caravan. Both excellent programs’ mascots refer to traveling in some fashion. Times of great epiphanies like this one I just had after watching CCL football for 52 years of my life makes me miss the Weber Red Horde.

Roy Hobbs’ eventual major league team. Fun fact about stalking: Ruth Ann Steinhagen shot the Cubs 1st baseman Eddie Waitkus in a Philly hotel room and was the inspiration behind Bernard Malamud’s novel The Natural. Ruth was so obsessed with Eddie, the teenager left a plate of dinner out for him on her family’s table.

Horn Rock Supergroup Chicago’s James Pankow alma mater. Teens, children, ask your parents for a 6 string for Christmas. Then ask about Mather’s Terry Kath. Then play, sing and feel music like Terry Kath. Peter Cetera was a Man of Mendel, Augustinian raised right.

Legendary former St. Rita football coach Pat Cronin’s alma mater. I mentioned martyrs in this thread about a handful of posts back. St. Bartholomew’s martyrdom was brought upon by converting the Armenian King to Christianity. He was said to still be preaching the Good News while his skin was being flayed by the whips of his captors. May I be so lucky to leave this earthly existence so admirably.

Blue D men. Always love the story of why DePaul University ‘s mascot is the Blue Demons. I thought it clever.

My pick’s school motto is Deeds not words. @ignazio can convert that into Latin for those that only read school mottos in Latin.

Spartans. But Rochelle being known as Hub City reminds me of when UIC was the only college named after or with an interchange in its name, University of Illinois at Circle or Circle Campus. But I guess University of Illinois at Chicago has more reach to the outside world that I do not belong to.

Segredos. It’s always hard to think about St. Rita losing the great Jim Segredo to Montini 25ish years ago. Watching St. Rita football in the 70s meant St. Rita v St. Laurence. 15-20k at Soldier Field. Great memories

Corsair. Finally, the end. This post is dedicated to @stonedlizard who I saw pop back onto the board this week. St. Liz was always the king and OG of the irreverent connection. One had to think laterally and robustly to understand his written whims. So with picking the Corsairs, I get to end my picks of the week with one of my bring-the-house down jokes:

Once I was a pirate for Halloween. I went up to a house and a kind, old lady said “Oh, how cute, a pirate! Where are your buccaneers?” I said “On the side of my buckin’ head lady”.

East Side Guys and the SEC Today

At WR or overall? I cannot see anyone not taking Travis as number one. Too bad Shaduer has the anchor of his father around his neck and his own big-ass ego to boot.
It was not a mock draft, just top 50 list. He was #2 overall.
Travis was #4 and Shaduer #10. The NFL is starved for QBs, don't think any perceived "baggage" will matter.

You obviously know more about Naz and this matchup than me. With this being a rival game, it may stay close, but I really think Naz is a prohibitive favorite here.

Rita is a very good team, and Coach Hopkins has put together a very good defense, but we all saw what Nazareth did to them in Chicago. After the LA game, SF has lost some of its luster.

Again, though, rival games usually are closer. We shall see.

MMXXIV Edition - CCL-ESCC Predictions Week IX

That’s the most interesting commentary you have given this year. Going for the regular season crown, and that’s all you give us is your picks? No drama? No smack talk? No histrionics? No dazzling the crowd with your infamous knowledge and wit? Just the picks?

I might just pull for the rookie k18 this week.
Not knocking others, but I do look forward to BillyBuff's and ESCC Fan's comments.
