Feeto's Friday Upset Special.....

Give me Warren over Libertyville @ L Ville POUND THE ROCK
I don't think so, no upset here. Aaron Stewart will get big yards for WTHS ground game, and he will put points on the board. Opponents have limited Stewart this season, but have not stopped him. Quinn Schambow, Blaise LaVista, et al will rebound from last week's upset loss to Lake Forest and put up big numbers against a porous (very) WTHS defense. Schambow passing way too much for Blue Devils.

Rice 35 Larry 6

It probably dawned on them that they were at a crossroads. If they hadn’t won that game, who knows where they’d be right now.

Feeto might even be picking them as an upset over Iggy tonight instead of the other way around.
Rice knows a loss would be an epic fail and lose out on co-Blue Champs. Also would get a tough first round on road. So hoping they play with some fire tonite.

Rice was fired up against MC. Don't know where they got it from, but it can carry a team pretty far.

Why would I get upset? I agree it's hard to advance in 8A. I would also agree it happens to good programs, but it doesn't happen often. Especially if they have a halfway decent schedule where they went 9-0, 8-1

Fun fact, WA has only made it past the first round twice in their history. However, they have gone undefeated four times.
True. But they took Maine South to the wire, and had they not fumbled the go-ahead TD QB Sneak on the 1 yard line, they would've beat them. That MS team won the State Title.

CCL Frosh Soph Scores

I think the last 10 years with numbers being what they are, teams are just happy to get their kids games regardless of how you label it.

I have seen some things like Leo JV vs Rita Frosh. Or a team that has a soph team playing against a true JV team that may have juniors (and even seniors) who don't play much on varsity. Overall, I think most programs are happy to just to have a game for their lower levels regardless of the technicality. I know it used to be frosh vs frosh and soph vs soph at all the bigger programs. But now I feel like "JV" is more widespread than "soph."

I think it makes more sense to play frosh and varsity Friday and then JV Saturday or Monday so programs can add the juniors/seniors who didn't play Friday to the list of sophomore to get a more inclusive JV game.
Lines have blurred on what JV is in the historical sense.

I guess I always assumed those JRs still dressed for the varsity game.

My sophomore year MC had Charles Frazier play on the soph team all season and then he played varsity during the playoffs. He was a beast on the sophomore team and in the State Championship game against MS that year I fully expected him to return the final kickoff for a TD and win the game. He was that good of a RB and football player at just 15.
I remember Chris Jeske entered Joliet Catholic as a freak freshman in 2001. Had to play soph the first 9 weeks because of conference rules, but started at inside linebacker the entire 5 week playoff run. Then he started for 3 more years. Won state titles his FR, JR, and SR years, was Sun Times POTY, and went to Northwestern.

The rule really didn't make much sense, at least not for the competitive programs in the CMC. Most of them aren't going to be rushing a not ready 14 year old to varsity. If there is a freshman who is ready, they are likely a complete athletic freak who is more than capable of defending themselves.

Eville at East Side (Video Recap)

Actually, Kaneland has proudly exceeded expectations this year, especially for those close to the program. They lost their entire offense from last year to graduation and basketball, including a 4-year starter at quarterback and a stable full of really nice wide receivers. The win at Washington in week 1 was a huge surprise and being playoff eligible before week 9 with an inexperienced team is already a success given what people thought the season would be. Tomorrow is a tough test and the Knights are excited to play a great team.
I am guilty too of not giving Kaneland their due - this will be a tough game for the Crusaders tomorrow!

It should be a PERFECT day for fall football! Brisk and sunny, BBQ smoke in the air, playoff prep! This will only be the third game of the season on campus for Althoff. Onew was Marquette and the other was a rainy night against Collisville.

The kids believe this is their toughest opponent this season, including East.

Don't get upset but 8A is no joke and getting dragged in the first round happens to a lot of "good" programs. It's hard to advance in 8A.

I'm not really sure what the word "dragged" means, as used in the sentence above. However, given the context I will assume it was meant to be a negative comment. Just as a matter of relevant information, the record of the Upstate Eight conference champion over the last five first-round games is 5-0, with the closest win being by 8 points. It could happen, but I will be very surprised if West Aurora loses its first-round game this year (or gets "dragged" as you would put it).
