ICE Quarterfinal Round

Wilmington vs Du Pec. I agree with McEv. Wildcats need to pack it in and shorten the game. DuPec does play teams that run that style of ball. but outside of Lena, can anyone run it as well as Wilmington? No and Lena beat them up. If DuPec cant keep the qb clean, this game will go south for them in a hurry. The Cat's secondary seems to always find a way to get an interception when the qb is pressing. Wilmington 28-Dupec 7.

CC vs Dixon. This is probably the most even match up you could get. It is gonna come down to turnovers and field position. Special teams will be huge. probably a one score coin flip either way. But gonna take the home team as CC has been pretty unstoppable there. Granted they didnt really play anyone outside of Johnsburg who seemed to want to be there. Maybe its some home mojo. Either way it keeps going. Coal City 20 - Dixon 12.

Both teams would face a private in the semis. The talent may be stacked against them, but I don't think either will be intimidated.

Maine South @ Loyola

I think both can be true.
Early losses were to really good teams and they seem to be playing much better football of late.
Absolutely. Lost to two really good teams. I think we all agree that the best coached teams/programs improve the most as the season progresses. And Loyola is one of them. Their big win over MC a few weeks ago is proof. And MC will most likely win 7a.

ICE Quarterfinal Round

Wilmington vs. DuPec - given what Wilmington did to Stillman Valley and Eureka, I would say DuPec will need to play very well on both sides of the ball to win. I was surprised at how easily Wilmington handled Eureka, I figured Eureka would be able to move the ball early and put up some points but boy was I wrong. Wilmington's offense seems to get better and better as the season goes on but if there are any issues it would be with pass defense. I guess DuPecs QB is pretty good and can sling it would makes me think DuPec will be able to score some points. Wilmington 28 DuPec 20

Dixon vs. Coal City - the Coalers are rolling at the right time. Had some struggles early against Boylan but once they figured out to stop throwing and just run, the game was ultimately theirs. Dixon, who used to be solid, has fallen off the last few years but has a very solid team again. They played Byron very tough which says a lot about their team this year and probably played a tougher schedule than the Coalers. Dixon 22 Coal City 20

Maine South @ Loyola

Or maybe the teams they struggled with early are pretty good. Looking at the last couple of games, I see the same team that was good from the start. Having your state champ QB is always a plus.

MS with a favorable path to this point. Defense is suspect, think LA will roll. LA far better team now than earlier in the season.

Warren would be the lowest seed to make the semi's in 8A. Lowest seed to win the 8A title was Maine South in 2016 as a #26 seed. Edwardsville made the semi's as a #26 seed in 2017. Other low seeds to make semi's include 2019 when Marist made semi's as a #23 seed and Rice made semi's as a #24 seed.
Back in the 1-16 North/South bracketing days Glenbard North made the finals in 2009 as a 14 seed. at 5-4. Equivalent of a 28 seed.

Bears

I imagine everyone in Hallas Hall is thinking they did the right thing and patting themselves on the back. Not understanding how inept they are as an organization.

One thing that confuses me is why the kids are not telling Warren to get a damn stadium deal done? Now we are talking about the old Michael Reese hospital site? Once Virgina moves on to the afterlife they are going to sell. Get the damn stadium situation figured out, dummies.

Would highly recommend Lake Forest vs Geneva (@ LF). Should be great game, great atmosphere, good seating/view(s), very good concession/food. Depending on your location, an easy commute, just off Tri-State north. I would anticipate a very close, very competitive game.

Saturday night, I like Saint Rita vs Quincy. Western Avenue rough and tumble! Good luck, you'll have fun.
Lake Forest a beautiful venue. SR battle tested, don't think Quincy will hang.

You want old school football go see ... Warren vs. York ... for the Semi. I love it ... both were lower seeds. Warren 🎢 is the 27th seed. Just curious what is the lowest 8A seed to make it to the Semi and Finals game ?

REJOICE!!! I’m leaning towards attending Naperville Central at Lyons Township, does anyone have any intel on this one? I saw LT once at DGN earlier this year and they look great he part. No studs, just a well coached group of guys that play very good team football
Is the Stevenson at LWE game the better choice ? Where should i go Friday ?
I’m also hitting a game Saturday, still undecided on that too, but leaning DGN at Batavia, I’ve never been to a game at Batavia
NC/Lyons should be a good game with Lyons coming out on top. Don't see Stevenson staying close to LWE. Expect DGN to be favored but Batavia with the home field. IMHO DGN the only team with a chance to knock off Mt. Carmel. MC hitting on all cylinders with QB now more mobile.
