Marmion Academy To Go Coed

How does ACC get by at that low a tuition rate? Do they have other substantial sources of funds? Is there a required fundraiser for an extra few grand per year? Large endowment?
I've always been told its because of their association with the Rockford Diocese. Most schools in the Rockford diocese are under 10k...except Marmion and Woodstock Marian.

Great Job Ritamen!

Cool move, no question. But let’s be real—schools and students pull off nice stuff all the time. Cut the hype parade and gear up for the real main event: taking on your big brother this Saturday.
Dick, let me explain it to you. I’m a Carmel guy, and I said that Rita finished fourth in the special Olympics. I was trying to be a little creative, not using the pizza joke. Problem is, I don’t think the Rita guys got it.

Marmion Academy To Go Coed

Coming from an outsiders perspective, this seems like it would be similar to BR going coed and not merging with McAuley. Neither school seemingly struggling financially or enrollment wise. Some good athletics teams at both schools. It just doesn’t make much sense. I know the distance between Rosary & Marmion is probably greater than that between BR & McAuley, but I don’t understand it. Hope it works out for the best.

Addison West- (Cary Grove 2018) Outland Semifinalist

Addison is a great kid. I had him as a 4th grader playing middleweight, which was mainly 6th graders, and I made a comment, Who's this West kid, he's big and really athletic, but he sure is goofy. That was when I was informed he was two years younger than the rest of the team.

It will be interesting if he makes the league. That would make 2 pro athletes from the 2018 Championship team, Addison and Quinn Priester with the Red Sox.

Marmion Academy To Go Coed

Marmion is a fantastic school and this will be the end of Rosary.

One thing I don't understand, they want to start with Jr/Sr female classes. Why not start with Freshman and grow by a class each year? If your kid transfers there as jr/sr they are going to have to sit out a year due to the transfer rules.
They do not want upperclassmen all firing on the youngest girls ... let them get used to being around chicks first.

Wow, significantly lower.

Unless you're lookin at an all religious faculty (which is seemingly not even possible today), it is hard to conceptualize paying salaries and benefits and maintenance while only bringing in 7-8 k per year per child.

I feel like that is the tuition rate most suburban private schools charged 20 years ago.

I hope it doesn't hurt Rosary or ACC. Even at a different price point, my concern with ACC would be that parents of daughters who were sent to ACC and have the means to pay more may prefer the Marmion choice.

And if not, where will all these females come from for Marmion? I assume Batavia and surrounding western burbs will provide some, just like they do presently for their boys. But I would think most of the families of girls with means who want Catholic/Christian education in Aurora are already paying for Rosary, ACC, or AC. If Marmion isn't going to make inroads with the ACC crowd, I don't know that there is enough female population for this to be a successful transition. I just don't see a ton of new families who are going to be like "I was going to send my daughter to Batavia HS, but now there is finally a private option in Aurora I am satisfied with."

My only prediction with limited knowledge is that either this will be a failed experiment by Marmion OR it will be real bad news for at least Rosary if not ACC. I can't imagine all three thriving, but I hope I am wrong.

ICE Semis

The size/speed and depth of the CCL may be too much for both teams. Neither will go down without a fight. I think CC has the best chance of the two being at home. From all looks, DePaul likes to throw the ball. CC's pass rush has been pretty strong all season. The last two games they seem to be getting a lot of pressure. If the coalers can keep that, they got a chance. If DePaul keeps the QB upright, it will probably not go CC's way.

Wilmington losing their best RB is killer. The margin for error became even smaller. Not sure if they will be able to keep it up. Reents will have them prepared.
DePaul QB is very elusive but seems to be turnover prone from what I see

How is the spread impacted with Wilmington being on the road and not having the support of the backwoods brethren leading them out to battle?

Jca vs morris

Weather should be partly sunny and dry, 45° with 5 mph wind from the West.
Probably no surprise on this homer’s pick, but I am taking the Hilltoppers by a few scores.
The O-Line is getting the job done for bruising RBs and I do not envision that changing the rest of the way. The limited passing game has been effective in the playoffs and is miles from where it was early in the season.
On Defense, the front 7 have been the rock of the team all year and continue to deliver as has DiNovo's kicking, which has been a quiet but effective weapon throughout the year.
My lurking concern is Varner being successful throwing to Mumbrue & Wheeler; hopefully those two can be contained.
The program is 19-4 in Semifinal games with the only home Semifinal loss being to Montini in 2012.
A number of the Hilltoppers are baseball players and surely remember too well that Morris knocked them out of the playoffs last Spring.
Not to nitpick, but aren't the Hillmen 20-4 in semi-final games? They have 15 state championships and 5 second places, meaning they have won 20 semi-final games, right?

Marmion Academy To Go Coed

It’s seems odd since it’s not a situation where MA needs the female enrollment. Sometimes just stick to what you are good at but I guess things change as well.
Kind of a big risk that could blow up in their face. I can see the loyal Rosary families coming together and no one leaving as well.

Aurora Central is so much cheaper - I don't see this effecting them.

Marmion Academy To Go Coed

The obvious big question is......

Marmion currently multiplies their boys only enrollment of 520 times two to give them an enrollment of 1040 for IHSA purposes. Now that they have girls, I assume that goes away. To start, I imagine Marmion will have a small number of girls. Their coed enrollment could be around 600 for a few years placing them in 4a where they could win some playoff games.
